Dating to the first half of the 19 th century. The microscope is unsigned. Yet several features clearly assign it to France. It is very unique in terms of design, having two separate and ... moreparallel stands, one for the microscope and the other for the sample holder. This microscope features a variation on the theme of the"Ellis aquatic microscope" It collapses into the 15 x 9.3 x 5 cm mahogany case. Internally lined with red velvet. When mounted, the body tube is 9.5 cm long rising altogether(with the case) to 14.5 cm. Both the microscope and the parallel sample holder stem screw into two brass sockets at the top of the case. Due to a devastating illness that her mother has recently been stricken with. Back in 2011 Joanne was in serious pain. It seemed to get worse as time went by. after many trips to the doctor, tests and great expense they discovered that several bones in her neck and spine had been chipped and fragments of bone were causing the pain.later that year she underwent surgery to remove the fragments and repair as much damage as they could. After the two and a half hour surgery she didn't seem to heal and began falling and bumping into walls many times a day which caused further damage. She seemed to become much more frail as time went on. Although her cuts healed, her doctors could not find anything wrong, her frail nature continued and began to get worse. The family had to start paying the mountain of medicall bills from the tests and surgery, however Joanne was sent home from work many times a week due to her condition and soon had to leave to be on bed rest.Before the first bills could be taken care of the

NICE 19TH CENTURY BRASS MICROSCOPE WITH ORIGINAL BOX
Description Here is a nice 19th century brass microscope with its original wooden box in good original working condition. The brass surface has a nice patina from age and the lenses are all in good condition. The mirror has some wear and dust to the back of it and still works well when reflecting light into the lens. The lens focuses nicely by slowly twisting it in an upward or downward position. The original wooden box is in good condition with two brass catches on the front. Facinating 19th century machine(Optical? and a nice example of precision build from a by gone era. It seems to resemble some antique examples of spectrometers from the 19th century and was told it may be victorian era optical lab equipment. Beautiful example of complicated antique mechanical optical labratory equipment piece. Two solid brass scopes. One with fixed eyepiece,len's at both ends with at least 3 take down pieces and mounted infront of some calibrations alined with this scope-a work bed(glass,cast iron,steel) thats moved by a large metal knob,and the other scope which follows directly in line with main scope but is seperated by 4 inches that the bed takes up. one end shows full sized lens and rear shows lens on chrome tube that slides/adjusts inside the brass tube. Its end shows a lens behind a slotted sleeve that adjust vertically ... morein front of the lens via a set screw,the slotted sleeve has a spring so back and forth adjustment is allowed with the set screw. Nothing is broken and nothing appears damaged as all things seems to work and adjust. the surfaces are all very pristine considering the age. Just no abuse or misuse showing(at least any obvious misuse troubles)No Dents. Measurements; stands about 16 inches. About 16 inches long and looks like mostly 1 inch brass for the scopes.Each scope measures about 6 inches with the back scope extending about 5 inches.The stand pole with manufactures badge showing initials? 19TH CENTURY NATURALISTS FOLDING BRASS POCKET MAGNIFIER This form of the microscope goes by a variety of names such as compass microscope. Naturalist’s microscope, simple microscope, entomological microscope. Flower microscope, pocket botanical microscope, and botanical microscope. It was introduced in the last years of the 18th century and was still being used 100 years later. It is brass with a"white" handle and simple lens. The components fold up. A needle probe is used to hold a specimen at one end and can be slid in a groove to focus in on it. The pocket botanic microscope was first mentioned in Adams book. Essays on the Microscope" of 1798. Antique 19th Century French Microscope Brass & Cast iron w. orig box
Here is a great antique French microscope with original box in much better than average condition. Measures 8 1/2 inches in when retracted. Made of brass and cast iron. Original gold paint on base. Optics are clear. Reflector is foggy. Brass has nearly all of the original lacquer on it. Knob retracts it fine and the top lense is removable. Box is in fine condition, beautiful wood, missing one wood spacer as shown. All seams tight. Box has a name I am guess was the original owner and what looks like a retailer stamp on the bottom. Box measures 9 1/2 by 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. Superb example of a mid 19th Century Microscope. Guranteed original for ever. Thanks for looking. Payment to be remitted within 4 days.

Box, and Multiple Lenses.A fairly LARGE microscope measuring 18 inches tall.This scope is a bar-limb type and has an unusual"joystick" maneuverable stage that is much like a Joseph Zentmayer.The scope itself has no name markings, but has a LARGE No. 77 on the front and a small A on the tube.It most resembles some early 1850s era J& W Grunow microscopes I found researching online.It is tarnished, but it good condition.The mirrors are good, and the lenses are all nice.Some of the lens have Bausch& Lomb on them, but I am reasonably sure this is NOT a Bausch& lomb microscope.There are other unusual lenses and LARGER size eyepiece/ tubes also included that I am sure are correct for this scope.The box has wear, but is still pretty nice and has two drawers inside.No ... moreKey.Overall a very unusual and early brass scientific instrument.Buyer Pays Shipping. French brass nineteenth-century field microscope
There are no letters. Symbols or numerals on any surface of this that I can see. The lower objective is missing the glass lens. The mirror and its gyro mount are missing. The lower lens stage bezel unscrews smoothly. As well as the base. The upper two stages allow unscrewing with little resistance. The center stage threads to the bottom are not responsive and may be frozen. I don't think this is solid brass. It is probably plated. For parts or repair. No returns. Incomplete. For decoration purposes only.

Reminiscent of a drafting compass. It was used during the 18th century for inspecting small opaque objects such as fauna or flora. To use the instrument, the user would mount the specimen with the forceps and locate it just opposite the lens. The silvered reflecting Lieberkuhn mirror focuses more light on the top surface of the specimen. These microscopes were very popular as pocket field aids for naturalists. The microscope comes with a black leather coated case lined with green velvet.
