Antique brass single to triple lens 18th century compass microscope
Due to some new priorities that I set. I clear now a section of my collection of antique field microscopes in favor of other models. Between June and August 2013 I will gradually list some high end single and compound microscopes, ranging between the 2 nd half of the 17 th. The 18 th. And the early 19 th centuries. If you are a serious collector. Please follow my lists. I will neither provide BIN prices nor sell outside of eBay, so please avoid addressing me with such requests. Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is an antique"compass microscope" Probably dating to the late 18 th century. The microscope is unsigned. It comes with one integral lens and two additional stacking button lenses. Providing altogether relatively very high magnification estimated ... moreat ~100X. The special specimen holder having the three prongs is paralleled by item R.M.S. No. 21 reviewed in Gerard Turner's book The Great Age of the Microscope. However. The model depicted there is different. The microscope has a nice ebony lacquered handle. But otherwise the finishing seems to be somewhat cruder than the usual for these. The case or etui that presumably accompanied it is missing. SHIPPING(please read carefully! Shipping is made promptly(within a day) after receiving cleared payment. By EMS(Express Mailing Service) PLEASE NOTE: sometimes items are held by the customs for longer periods of time. In the very unlikely case of a problem. Please do not open a case against me before contacting me first! If you are a serious collector. Please follow my lists. I will neither provide BIN prices nor sell outside of eBay, so please avoid addressing me with such requests. Please read carefully the following report. The figures are an integral part of this description. Offered for auction is an antique brass case-mounted Ellis-styled aquatic/ botanical microscope. Dating to the first half of the 19 th century. The microscope is unsigned. Yet several features clearly assign it to France. It is very unique in terms of design, having two separate and ... moreparallel stands, one for the microscope and the other for the sample holder. This microscope features a variation on the theme of the"Ellis aquatic microscope" It collapses into the 15 x 9.3 x 5 cm mahogany case. Internally lined with red velvet. When mounted, the body tube is 9.5 cm long rising altogether(with the case) to 14.5 cm. Both the microscope and the parallel sample holder stem screw into two brass sockets at the top of the case. The microscope stage is sliding along the column for focusing. Below it. A 2.8 cm diameter single sided mirror is mounted on a typically French 8 shaped bracket screwed to the column(see the discussion here regarding this style) The original accessories include three lenses with different magnifications. A glass stage disk with a polished depression for observing pond fauna and flora in aquatic samples, brass tweezers, and a special mounting wrench for the rater primitive stage forceps. he microscope, its accessories, and the mahogany case are all in very good overall condition. It dates to the first half of the 19 th century. SHIPPING(please read carefully! Shipping is made promptly(within a day) after receiving cleared payment,

French brass nineteenth-century field microscope
There are no letters. Symbols or numerals on any surface of this that I can see. The lower objective is missing the glass lens. The mirror and its gyro mount are missing. The lower lens stage bezel unscrews smoothly. As well as the base. The upper two stages allow unscrewing with little resistance. The center stage threads to the bottom are not responsive and may be frozen. I don't think this is solid brass. It is probably plated. For parts or repair. No returns. Incomplete. For decoration purposes only.
