Has some wear overall and some finish loss. Everything seems to move as it should except for the knob on top, not sure of its purpose. There is no eyepiece. Has 4mm.85 and 16mm.25 objectives. Any questions or information is all welcomed and appreciated. This microscope is made of brass and black metal. All we have done is to dust this piece. So the brass. Although warm appears scratched. It looks really retro as it is. But I would think if you wanted to use it you would need to shine it up. I leave the cleaning of these valuable older treasures to the experts. The base is black and measures 5 1/2" longest) 3 3/4" widest) Base does have minimal surface rust(photo 7) and a screw that does turn. I think this screw may tighten the base into place. Back of base has a round metal plate that I think is brass. It reads: Bausch& Lomb Optical Rochester N.Y. New York City. The Bausch is a little hard to read. The mirror rotates and swings freely. The mirror measures 1 3/4" across. The metal around one side of the the mirror has some age rust(photo 7) One side of the mirror magnifies the other is just regular mirror. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. The microscope raises up and down without problems but may need to be lubricated. At the tallest it is 14" retracted 11" The piece closest to the slide stage is marked: Bausch& Lomb 16 mm 0.25 N.A. T

This is one of the more rare Bausch& Lomb American Type microscope models. It was only manufactured over just a brief 3-year period from 1889 to 1891. The featured instrument is very similar in design to the B&L“The Model” microscope. But it lacks the rack and pinion focus mechanism and is built upon a horseshoe shaped foot with rectangular pillars instead of the“Y”shaped foot with round pillars that characterized“The Model. This instrument bears the name of the manufacturer in fancy script on the top rear face of the circular stage. Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Please see the accompanying close-up image of this inscription) However, this instrument does not bear a typical serial number. For some unknown reason, Bausch& Lomb did not inscribe serial numbers on their earlier microscopes. Brass ... moreMicroscope My clients husband found this microscope in the remains of an old building and cleaned it up very well. Most all the adjustable parts move. Though some are a little harder than others. It is missing 1 of the 3 magnifying lenses that can rotate to any one of the 3 positions. It may be missing other parts that I don't know about. The eye piece does not appear to be the proper one for this scope, but does fit in the chamber. The mirror at the base does have blemishes on both sides. It has many more options than some of the other scopes that I have found from this era. It has 2 patent dates that I can find, one from Feb 1897& one from Aug. 1897. The serial number is on the base#26739. It is 14 1/2" Tall x 6" Deep x 4 1/4" Wide I was unable to really see anything as I didn't have the knowledge or the material to test. I'm sure that it does need some restoration. Though it is a great looking decorative piece as it sits. This is the condition it has been in for many years and I did not attempt to polish or take apart to clean. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. Offered for auction is a fine Bausch& Lomb portable microscope Model BHP S.N. 74484. Dating to 1908. This full research microscope is housed compactly in a 29 x 19 x 8 cm mahogany carrying case. It sets up by simply spreading the hinged base. Then swinging the stage 90 0 and locking it into place. The profile of this instrument features an integrated"jug handle" cut into the squared off limb. A design that became popular among some producers between ca. 1900 and 1920. This B&L"Portable Microscope Model BHP" has all the features and rigidity of their research stands. But in a convenient traveling form. Not many of these microscopes were produced, because their price was over two times the price of a regular B&L Model BH desk-top microscope. I tested all of the lenses using a piece of paper with writing on it, each lens was able to get a fairly clear picture. The mirror does have some blemishes on it and some appear to be permanent. The frame of the microscope is all brass and is in pretty good shape. There is definitely some wear and tarnish on it but nothing major. Up for auction(sale) is a Vintage Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Brass Microscope My clients husband found this microscope in the remains of an old building and cleaned it up very well. Most all the adjustable parts move. Though some are a little harder than others. It is missing 1 of the 3 magnifying lenses that can rotate to any one of the 3 positions. It may be missing other parts that I don't know about. The eye piece does not appear to be the proper one for this scope, but does fit in the chamber. The mirror at the base does have blemishes on both sides. It has many more options than some of the other scopes that I have found from this era. It has 2 patent dates that I can find, one from Feb 1897& one from Aug. 1897. We do have a letter that was written to Bausch& Lomb to find out more information about the microscope. This is a very cool World War I era antique/vintage Bausch& Lomb microscope acquired from the University of Colorado. Boulder. Ocular, lenses, and body are label'Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, NY. This unit has a cast iron body and I believe the rest of it brass, though some of it has been enameled black. One of the lenses is labeled 170mm and the other 16mm. Light passes through the optics, but that is the extent of my testing. 93' is etched into the side of the ocular and stenciled onto the base. Table has a small crack on the side. Vintage Bausch& Lomb Antique Brass Microscope Circa 1899 The pictures do not do justice to the way this instrument gleams! All the movements move freely with no binding or sticky spots. The Irises on the condenser move freely as well. The bottom iris looks like it is missing a couple of the leaves, there is what appears to be one of them that was in the drawer of the case. It is shown in one of the pictures. The Case is in good shape. But it is showing it's age, the cabinet does lock and includes a key. I have added a shipping charge to this due to the extra care that is needed to package this securely to ensure it will arrive safely also to cover the extra charges due to it's weight.

There is some corrosion to the brass and painted surfaces in places. This microscope appears to be a bar limb design. I do not see a serial number on the microscope. But do see the number"37" impressed on the bottom of the stand. The objective has Bausch& Lomb impressed on it and"tube length 8.5" I can see Bausch& Lomb on the eye lens, but not a strength The mirror at the bottom of the scope is two sided. Not cracked or blistered, but the mirroed surface does show some wear. The glass for the lens and objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. I see no blistered cracked or missing glass in the lenses or objectives. The microscope is 11.75" tall. By 4-1/8" across, by 6.5" wide. This auction is for an amazing early Bausch& Lomb Universal brass microscope with original mahogany case. Additional lenses and accessories. This has the earlier one line patent on the side. There is an original B& L cardboard card for magnifying combinations that identify this as microscope number 3316. The scope is in great condition with no dents or scratches. The varnish is crazed in some areas. There are spots of tarnish as well. I will not clean the microscope. I will let the winning bidder decide on the finish. Everything moves easily with precision. It has four Carl Zeiss Jena eyepieces(1. 2, 3, and 6(Compens Ocular) and an adapter for them. The six needs to have the bottom lens reinserted. It looks like the retaining ring was bent. The lens has no issues. It also has five B& L eyepieces(two bases are labeled A and two ... moreare labeled C, and one labeled D but the lenses are etched A, 1, D, and unetched) There is a C base with no upper that is different from the other four. There are four objective lenses(3/4, 1/5, 1/6, and 4/10) with brass cases. There is a B& L rotating"shutter" piece(pic. 8) that when rotated closed metal shutter in the small hole. A brass adapter for an eyepiece? A dual stage adapter for the objectives. Also included is a rare example of a James L. Pease quick change adapter(patented feb. 13 1883) pic. 9) The B& L light condenser is in its original box with additional eyepiece marked 1. It is in excellent working condition. The hinge has separated from the box though. Inside the drawer is some additional equipment with a cool ivory container. Brushes, needles, objective rings some additional tools. You are bidding on this Antique Brass Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Microscope with 2 lenses. It measures about 11 1/2 inches high when adjusted all the way down. Marked on the back knob is Pat. Feb 16 1897. On the eyepiece lens top is 7.5& in a triangle B-L Z S. The eyepiece is in very good condition. Both sides of the bottom mirror look fine. There are some marks and scratches on the brass throughout but it looks pretty good. The part that turns and the lenses screw into has a black paint coating on top of the brass. Beautiful brass antique microscope Bausch Lomb with case lenses
Up for bids is a wonderful brass and enamel microscope from a local estate. It come in the original case. The lenses are original and come with the small containers as well. The microscope is about 14" tall. All the moving parts move as they should. The box is worn and could stand some re-gluing. There is some wear to the scope as shown. Displays beautifully. Antique 1915 Brass Bausch & Lomb Microscope Case Lenses Cedar Oil
Antique 1915 brass Bausch& Lomb microscope. Serial number 101997. All 3 feet swing out. Has a 16mm. 4mm, 1.9mm lenses, Includes a partially filled bottle of cedar oil, a blue lens, 2 eyepieces- 5& 10. Microscope stands 11 3/4. I don’t have any slides but light goes through. double sided mirror. Condition- everything seems to work as it is suppose to. Has been lightly cleaned. I didn’t find any missing or broken pieces. It will need a deep cleaning. I didn’t want to risk improper cleaning. Lenses have there cases. The case- when I found it, the box was locked with no key. After all attempts, I had to remove the back and some of the felted supports. It is missing the back of the box- I thought I had it but I can’t find it. Antique Bausch & Lomb Microscope Pat. Feb 16 1897 Brass 3 Lenses Cal University
The microscope was acquired by the University of Berkeley in 1910 and used in the Agriculture Dept. Antique Brass Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Microscope with 2 lenses. It measures about 11 1/2 inches high when adjusted all the way down. Marked on the back knob is Pat. Feb 16 1897. On the eyepiece lens top is 10. The eyepiece is in very good condition. Both sides of the bottom mirror look fine. There are some marks and scratches on the brass throughout but it looks pretty good. The part that turns and the lenses screw into has a black paint coating on top of the brass. The black is flaking off in spots. All the brass lens has"Bausch& Lomb Optical Co Rochester N.Y. U of CA AG 26" 16mm 0.25 N.A. 4mm and 1.9mm. The lenses need to be cleaned. The slide clips are ok, as is the deck(shows some wear) There is a triangle B-L Z S on ... morethe black cast iron bottom. I believe this is a late 19th Century microscope. The only number on it is"63" on the outside of both feet. It weights about 4lbs. 8 ozs. and is 10 1/2" tall when compressed. All parts seem to be working. Probably c.Late-1890's vintage. The microscope has a Patent Date of Feb. 16. 1897 on it. The microscope is in working condition. The 2 lower magnification lenses seem to magnify and focus objects fine, but I couldn't get the highest power lens to focus. Not sure why- maybe I just don't know how to properly operate machine. I know little about microscopes in general myself. Microscope looks to have it's original finish on surface. Bottom double-sided reflective mirror in good condition. The iris mechanism in the assembly above mirror opens and closes fine. The three objective lenses on microscope are Bausch& Lomb lenses. Microscope ... morewas found in this antique wooden case which has old and worn ebonized patina on exterior surface. There are no extra lenses in the box but has three empty Spencer storage tubes for lenses found in the storage racks. Also some kind of Spencer glass plate or slide of some kind with serial#5914 etched on it. Also a full bottle of Immersion Oil for objectives. The box has no key for the lock. You are bidding on a Antique Bausch& Lomb Microscope with a jug handle. It measures 5 4/8" x 4" x 12 4/8" in the closed position) The eye piece and the adjustment screws move just fine. They may just need to be oiled if that is possible. The nose piece also moves just fine and clicks the objectives in place. It is missing the slide clips and we believe the substage condenser is missing. It does have some paint loss and scratching from use. The mirror doesn't have cracks and only seems to have some very small spots on it on one side. It does appear to work when we look through the eye piece, but we have not tested it with a slide or object. We do not know as much as we would like about this piece so please ask questions if you have any. See pictures for condition since all individuals have their own opinion. Serial number is faint but seems to read 66734 which I believe places the date of this scope to about 1907. Approximately 11 in. tall when turned all the way down. 4-1/4 in. wide, and 5-3/4 in. deep. Very Good condition, light wear, see also pictures. There are no breaks, chips, or cracks. Wooden case has some wear, and a crack in back. This microscope is marked Bausch + Lomb on the base. The serial number is 22885. It has a mirror for lighting. And the part that swings out(below the object stage) also has a light blue glass piece that one can move in or out of the path of light. It has a revolving turret for 3 lenses and comes with four different B+L objective lenses, each one in its matching brass container. They are marked: 1/12, 1/6, 2/3, ... moreand 8mm. Bausch and Lomb continental microscope circa 1903. This has a fully adjustable slide manipulator. There is wear to the plating on the manipulator. There is an adjustment knob broken off the the side on the manipulator. It is present though. The large dial on top of the main shaft is loose and not connected to anything. It currently does not adjust anything. The lever to tilt the microscope is stuck. I did not want to force it and risk breaking the handle. All other knobs and adjustments appear to be working. This has three eye pieces; 7.5. 1 and 2. There are three objectives; 2/3. 1/6 and 1/12. All three have brass storage containers. The mirror is plano and concave. The box is locked and the latch has been pulled out of the door. The only damage is the screw holes are stripped. There are many photos. This auction is for a well preserved Bausch& Lomb brass and black painted iron microscope. It has a few small marks and imperfections. But it is in generally shiny and new condition. It has the choice of two objectives and two different eyepieces. There is a blue glass piece and an extra set of slide holders. They come in a fitted box with a small plastic cover for the microscope. I bought this at a Radio Swap in Michigan about 6 years ago, because of its excellent condition and impressive look. I can tell you what I know. Engraved on one of the feet is Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester, N.Y. On the base at the top rear is stamped 36832. The base appears to be Solid Brass with some kind of Bone or Ivory Locking Adjustment Arm/Handle. It has 3 Objective Lens, which are marked(1) 1mm, 1/12, 1.32 N.A. 160.0mm Tube Length, 2) 2/3, 0.24 N.A. 160.0mm Tube Length, and(3) 4mm, 0.65, 43x, 2/3. The Microscope is stamped Pat. Feb. 16. 1897. There 2 Eye Pieces which are marked 1. The Objective Lens have Storage Containers, with the size stamped on top, and seem to ... morematch the lens.
