I have seen other field microscopes similar that were made by"The Harvey Lewis Co. and other that were made in Germany. I am not sure if this one is either. There is a date inscribed on the inside of the box. 7/30/25. With the initials J.J.H. Also included is 1 prepared glass slide and 1 tweezer. The box has two clasps that hold it closed. There is a crack through the bottom side of the box. But it does affect the integrity. Microscope measures: expanded) 7 1/8" x 1 7/8 at the base Wood box measures: 7" X 2 3/4" X 2 1/8" Take home this great piece of early history. Will pack carefully. I am going to do my best to describe this antique ... morebrass microscope. But as I am not an expert by any means in this area please forgive any incorrect terminolgy. Any questions or information is all welcomed and appreciated. This microscope is made of brass and black metal. All we have done is to dust this piece. So the brass. Although warm appears scratched. It looks really retro as it is. But I would think if you wanted to use it you would need to shine it up. I leave the cleaning of these valuable older treasures to the experts. The base is black and measures 5 1/2" longest) 3 3/4" widest) Base does have minimal surface rust(photo 7) and a screw that does turn. I think this screw may tighten the base into place. Back of base has a round metal plate that I think is brass. It reads: Bausch& Lomb Optical Rochester N.Y. New York City. The Bausch is a little hard to read. The mirror rotates and swings freely. The mirror measures 1 3/4" across. The metal around one side of the the mirror has some age rust(photo 7) One side of the mirror magnifies the other is just regular mirror. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. The microscope raises up and down without problems but may need to be lubricated. At the tallest it is 14" retracted 11" The piece closest to the slide stage is marked: Bausch& Lomb 16 mm 0.25 N.A. T

It has a bit of the surface enamel missing from the stage(pictured) and the locking mechanism on the original mahogany wood case does not work- I believe it just needs a magnet to be replaced to function properly. Glass Beaker Vintage sun turned purple glass scientific. Apothecary, or medical double spout footed measuring beaker. It has a very pretty light purple tint to the glass. Piece measures just about 7.25" tall. And the base is 3" diameter. It is marked on one side and plain on the other. Left side reads from 1-21, right side reads 2-22 This piece would have been made from the late 1880's- 1915. This was the period of time that they used manganese in glass production to keep it clear. The mineral causes the glass to turn purple when exposed to light for a period of time. Condition is very good. No chips or cracks. You can see and feel the mold lines from the manufacture process. Here is a great older metal microscope for your buying consideration. Recently picked it up at an auction. Would make a great gift or keep it for yourself. The microscope scope and the lens and objective case and dials are made of metal. The black painted part of the microscope stand are in very good shape. The eye lenses have a 10x and 15x. They are both Zeiss eyepieces. There are no dates noted on the microscope or accessories. The serial number of 250927 is on the microscope would make it as having been produced around 1911-1912. The mirror at the bottom of the scope is two sided. Not cracked or blistered, but the mirrored surface does show some wear(loose from stand) The glass for the lens ... moreand objective are dusty and may have some minor scratching. I see no blistered cracked or missing glass in the lenses or objectives. The microscope is 12.5" tall. By 5-3/8" across, by 8" wide. Nice what appears to be the original wood case. The wood case is intact, still has its' lock, and the key that works it. There is a slide drawer holding all the eye lenses and then a drawer on the right side that has nothing in it but holes to hold some accessories. There is also a metal box the has a blue shade that is electrified. Also a plastic cover that can be put over the microscope when it is out of the case. The objectives are a 8(2) A 40(65.17) and a 90(1.25) Handle is still on the top of the case. Great etching into the metal body and plate of the name of the company. This devise is from a school lab for studying and demonstrating electrical motors and possibly dynamos. The wood base is 18 5/8 by 10. It is 10 1/2 tall overall. The shaft is 17 3/8 long. The outer ferrous ring diameter is 9. All measurements are in inches and are approximate. It weighs about 45 pounds. The rotor is free and the bearings appear sound. The wires from the rotor are unattached from the slip rings. Otherwise. A really nice Spencer microscope in brass and cast black painted metal. This piece has three lenses along with swing out underside style lens. In good condition with some wear from use. A stain to the brass on the right side by the platform. Top of the under lens has some corrision to the metal. The base has some loss to it's black paint. The microscope has all of it's parts working and functional. The eyepiece is 10x. Comes with a wooden case with key. The top of the case is marked- E. Leitz N.Y. The Nikon H(Hand" was designed in the 1960s by Nikon after the introduction of the commercial model of McArthur's folded optics microscope by Vickers in the 1950s. However. Nikon took the concept many steps ahead and produced one of the most sophisticated portable microscopes ever to be made. It is considered by many the best field microscope of all times. Production ceased in the late 1960s. Nikon H was also the first microscope to operate in space. During the first Skylab mission of NASA in 1973-4. With the battery compartment clean, the bulb(which is the original type of flashlight bulb of the 1960's) still functions(see photos) The ocular is clear(but it can use some delicate cleaning) and the objectives are perfect. The paint seems to have been repaired in one area on the right side of the ocular tube. The stage clips, clips holder and one of the tiny strap hooks below the ocular are missing. The leather case has been repaired in the past with the two strap hooks being efficiently glued back in place by some sort of strong solder. Because of these issues I list this microscope with a low BIN price of about $1000 less than the current value of a microscope of this kind in very good condition and with the original box. However. Vintage Antique 1908 Jug Handle model Bausch & Lomb Co Microscopes with Case
Very cool early Jug Handle 1900's Bausch and Lomb Microscope with variable light adjustment. There are 3 eye pieces with this microscope and all are in good condition but need cleaning. The microscope stands just at 14 inches tall when focused on an image. etc. All knobs are smooth and it is an operating microscope that can be used still. I was amazed when I put a pre prepared slide on it and adjusted the mirror for the light to come through. It lit up the subject great. A light filter on this one that adjusts to control the amount of light coming through the subject slide. Please not that the case is missing the lock mechanism and the top of the wood box has been broken and re-glued. It still looks great though with the microscope. Also there are 3 eye pieces one is on the microscope. There are also 3 screw top metal containers marked ... morewith the company logo but there is nothing in them. Vintage 1883 Bausch & Lomb Microscope in Original Case - Very Rare. Serial #2165
Vintage 19th century Bausch& Lomb Microscope. Very rare and early model. With an extremely unusual design. This was made for the Arthur H Thomas Company. I researched the very low serial number of 2165 and it indicates a manufacture date of 1883! I discovered this item at a farm estate sale, and the family members only thought their father had bought it at a state liquidation sale decades before, and remember him using it from time to time. I am not an expert at microscopes and may not use the exact terminology, but I will do my best. I have been told this was a"comparison microscope" but cannot confirm that information. It certainly is very different from any other microscope that I have ever seen. Many of the components are made from brass, cast or stamped metal. It appears to have been well maintained, and has no major damage ... morethat I can see. I have not cleaned the lenses, and only given the outside a very gentle cleaning to remove dust. There are two hexagonal focusing prisms which work independently of each other, and are fully functional through their designed range of operation. The left and right focusing knobs move freely, with circular brass slide holders. Mirror rotates freely and is intact, but clouded. It has a removable steel lens cover. Original dovetail joint wooden box with functional hinge and clasp. It has normal wear, with surface scratches/chips and one burn mark at the top corner of the box(see pictures) I have no slides or other items with the microscope, other that what is seen in the pictures. This hydrometer collectible dates from between the late 1890's to about 1920. It was used in wine. Alcohol and/or beer making. Breweriana collectors will love this item. Great present for the collector. Beautiful patina on. What I believe is sterling silver, hydrometer. Very decorative bulb. The stem is numbered from 0 to 20. I have seen no other so decorative or ornate. It is a very special piece when paired with its own personal contoured wooden case. The carved wooden case. Which looks to be carved from a single solid piece of wood(see last picture) fits the hydrometer snugly and is lined with a deep purple velvet cloth on both top and bottom. There is obvious ware on the lining but still in very good condition. The stem is loose from the base(see picture#11) but. If desired, can easily be fixed. Measurements are approx. Vintage Bausch & Lomb Colorimeter in Original Case - Serial #2165
REVISION: I have revised my original posting. After receiving an email with additional information about this item. See below. This was made by Bausch& Lob for the Arthur H Thomas Company. Serial number 2165. I discovered this item at a farm estate sale. And the family members only thought their father had bought it at a state liquidation sale decades before, and said they remember him using it. This item is a" Duboscq Colorimeter" Colorimeters are used to determine the concentrations of substances by measuring color intensities. The DuBoscq type of colorimeter works by comparing the colors of two solutions of a colored substance, a standard with a known concentration, and a sample with an unknown concentration. Many of the components are made from brass. Cast or stamped metal. It appears to have been well maintained, and has ... moreno major damage that I can see. I have not cleaned the lenses, and only given the outside a very gentle cleaning to remove dust. The 2 sample cups are missing. There are two hexagonal prisms which work independently of each other, and are fully functional through their designed range of operation. The left and right knobs move freely, with circular brass slide holders. Mirror rotates freely and is intact, but clouded. It has a removable steel lens cover. Original dovetail joint wooden box with functional hinge and clasp. It has normal wear, with surface scratches/chips and one burn mark at the top corner of the box(see pictures) I have no other components with the item, other that what is seen in the pictures. Vintage, Miniature, Brass, Field Microscope, Made in Germany
Very nice. Pocket size, field microscope. When assembled it stands just 3.5 inches tall, the cylinder with eyepiece is 2 inches long and 1 and 3/8 inches across. The cylinder appears to be brass with an Bakelite eyepiece. The sturdy base is steel painted black and the mirror is double sided: one side is the actual casing which appears to be polished stainless steel and acts as a mirror while the other is an enclosed glass mirror. I imagine this is to give 2 different intensities of reflected light dependant on the subject to be viewed. The underside of the cylinder has Made in Germany stamped into the metal. see photo) The operation is quite simple, by depressing the 2 spring loaded pins on the sides of the cylinder an opening appears into which the slide is inserted. Antique Vintage Leitz Minor Folding Traveling Microscope w/Case Lens Condenser
You are looking at a Leitz"Minor" microscope in very fine condition-not exactly the sort of microscope usually found on ebay. This may be the best surviving example. If you scour the internet. Or look in any of the major microscope museums, you won't find one this nice. Its' lenses are optically perfect; it appears to have seen little use, and has been cared for by someone intelligent who knows how to use microscopes. Even the numbers on the tube are unscathed by case rub. I bought it a few years ago for approximately $1800 US with intention of using it on an expedition that never materialized. It is awesomely light and small, complete with all accessory lenses, the condenser, the stage clips, filters, iris, oculars et all. It spent several decades in a glass display, but the case did not, so the case is less than perfect, ... morebut complete and fully functional. Fully accessorized, its' magnification goes from 8 to 250X, and it has zoom functionality. The lenses are unique to this particular scope; however, other RMS Leitz objectives work just fine, making the magnification useful for bacteriology. Light in your backpack to remote areas, or fine in your microscope collection; this is likely your only chance at one of these tis nice. Vintage Brass Field Microscope with wooden case base
The images are actual photos of the Microscope. The body of the microscope is brass and measures 5 inches in height and extends by one inch. All pieces move freely and join together well. I cannot find any name on the device/pieces only numbers on some. The tweezers do have the word Depose on the top. Three lens eye pieces(Brass) are in the set. One is missing its lens. They are numbered 1. 2, 3. The mirror has some paint lost under the glass. The slide surface glass is clear and chip free. The case is not original to the microscope. I believe it is a reproduction of what the original case looked like. The construction is excellent on the case. Tight dovetail joints and brass screws on the top. The exterior wood is oak.
