I am going to do my best to describe this antique ... morebrass microscope. But as I am not an expert by any means in this area please forgive any incorrect terminolgy. Any questions or information is all welcomed and appreciated. This microscope is made of brass and black metal. All we have done is to dust this piece. So the brass. Although warm appears scratched. It looks really retro as it is. But I would think if you wanted to use it you would need to shine it up. I leave the cleaning of these valuable older treasures to the experts. The base is black and measures 5 1/2" longest) 3 3/4" widest) Base does have minimal surface rust(photo 7) and a screw that does turn. I think this screw may tighten the base into place. Back of base has a round metal plate that I think is brass. It reads: Bausch& Lomb Optical Rochester N.Y. New York City. The Bausch is a little hard to read. The mirror rotates and swings freely. The mirror measures 1 3/4" across. The metal around one side of the the mirror has some age rust(photo 7) One side of the mirror magnifies the other is just regular mirror. The mirror side that does not magnify has some silver loss around the edge(see photo 7) this does not seem to effect the visiblity. The mirror will be removed for shipping as to decrease the risk of breakage. The area that holds the slides is black, the two slide holders are intact with good movement and I think they are brass. The opening in slide stage is 1/2" The underside of the slide plate has a circular dial I believe brass piece. This circular dial has 4 holes, I think they are used to regulate the light that reaches the mirror. This dial moves freely and the largest opening measures 1/2" across. The microscope raises up and down without problems but may need to be lubricated. At the tallest it is 14" retracted 11" The piece closest to the slide stage is marked: Bausch& Lomb 16 mm 0.25 N.A. T

Vintage Bausch & Lomb Microscope 282199 with Light Source
I have a vintage Bausch& Lomb microscope that has been stored for many years in a storage shed. The microscope has a number on the front: 282199- possible 40's– 50’s. All knobs work freely and lenses look alright. The adjusting plate knob(two knobs exist side by side on the plate area) outside knob appears to be bent. But still works perfect. Microscope used to be part of the Arkansas State Board of Health. And is marked this in three areas(see Pics. Top lens is marked W10X-15.5MM. Bottom three are 97X. 43X, and 10X. Microscope is dirty here and there. And needs to be cleaned. Also included is a working light source 120v lamp with an on/off switch– all works. And lights up as shown. We are offering this rare microscopist's microscope turn-table for your consideration. It was patented Dec. 14. 1886 by E.H. Griffith(Ezra Hollis Griffith) of Fairport, NY. The patent no. is 354,130. There is no model number. Patent application was filed April 8, 1886. Serial No. 198,289. Griffith died in 1894 at age fifth-six. He was a professor and for twenty-seven years represented De Land& Co. Soda Manufacturers in Fairport, NY. In early life, while a teacher, he became interested in the use of the microscope. The desire for a portable instrument led to his invention of the Griffith Microscope, a very notable and popular instrument among specialists. Griffith was instrumental in organizing the American Microscopical Society. We believe this microscopist's turn-table is rare. We haven't run into another one of these. Vintage Steindorff Microscope in Perfect Working Order. Germany. 1920s. With Plywood Case Fine German Steindorff microscope made in Berlin in the 1920s. This instrument is in good working order. The microscope has the classical black enameled iron base and frame. The mobile component parts are made of brass and chromed metal. It has a three-lens revolving nosepiece. All the microscope’s parts are original. Except the case that has been custom made, and work perfectly. The microscope’s turret bears an engraved inscription with the manufacturer’s name and the place where the factory was located: Steindorff& Co. Berlin. Under this inscription we can also see the instrument’s serial number: 50185. Steindorff& Co. Was a German firm that manufactured microscopes and scientific instruments for over one hundred years. In 1879 Emil Steindorff ... morefounded the factory in Berlin. And in 1915 his brother Otto shared the ownership of the company. After many years of development, in World War II the Berliner factory was destroyed but the firm kept on with their business. In 1951 an American branch was founded to distribute Steindorff microscopes in the USA. After decades of success, in 1986 the company went bankrupt. This particular microscope comes into a plywood protecting case with flexible handled and lock with key. Though it is not the original case. It is perfect to store and transport the instrument. The case is in good condition: the hinges are perfectly preserved and the outside is covered by a shiny transparent finish. Inside there is also a small plywood stand bound to support two lenses. The three lenses come with their metal corresponding metal sleeves. Any lover of scientific antiques will recognize a first-class item in this Steindorff microscope. Vintage Brass Doctors Working Field Microscope Civil War Era
Untitled Document Description Civil War Era antique brass working Doctors Field Microscope is a great item to own or give as a gift. The microscope itself is in beautiful condition with what I would consider signs of normal use with some small surface scratches on the outside which should buff out and a tarnished patina on the inner surfaces of the tube. These surface blemishes do not take away from the usefulness or desirability of the piece and most likely will disappear if professionally cleaned. There is a light“tuning reel” on the side that adjusts the light source for pin point brightness to a much broader range of light across the entire slide. There are multiple size openings to adjust the light source needed accordingly. It is this small wheel/coin looking thing located on the side just below where the slides are placed. This brass ... moretuning wheel is what makes this a working Doctors field microscope. And not a simple student version. Plus there is an extra screw on the shaft that allows the doctor to secure the microscope to the desired height and keep it there without it slipping. A must have accessory when working long hours in the medical field with this type of microscope. The mirror reflects nicely. But could use a good polishing. The magnifying lenses have no cracks, but have some surface scratches, and needs professional cleaning. Also included is an extra wooden encased magnifier lens. This extra lens would have given the doctor a better look at any given tissue sample placed on a slide. This lens shows signs of field use with surface scratches on the lens that might polish out nicely. The case has a sizable crack running nearly the length of the lid and is not fully secure. But still has integrity. This working Civil War Era Doctors Field Microscope is a really awesome museum quality item all the way around! The serial number on this microscope is 67927. According to my research. That serial number places the Manufacturing date sometime between June 23, 1920 and May 23, 1921. This microscope is even OLDER than one that just recently sold for about $400. Both of the brass knobs turn and the mirror is intact. With"no cracks" It could use a cleaning if you prefer the polished look, but I know some collectors prefer the aged natural look, so it has been left untouched. I am no expert in microscopes. I have a bausch and laumb straight razor, this item is in good condition, the blade measures 3 inches and the razor with the handle measures 10 inches, the blade seems nice and straight, it does have one little nick in the blade, and a couple black spots on the blade, the handle is in very good condition with minor scratches, the rivets in the handle are nice and tight, the case appears to be original, in fair condition with a few scuff marks on it.

A set of three antique/ vintage arranged microscope slides. The slide shown on the left-hand side of the listing photograph appears to be made of some sort of light wood. With a green covering. Overall in very good condition, although there is a very slight curvature to the wood. Contains spines arranged in a star pattern. The middle slide was created by the renowned diatom arranger. K.D. Kemp, and dated 20/ 10/ 93. And titled"Exhibition Bird. Also indicates"Styrax" and"Diatomacea. The slide contains a remarkably tiny arrangement of what appear to be diatoms in the shape of a bird with its wings spread. Unfortunately I do not have the facilities to take a good, clear image, but tried to capture it in the listing photo. The bird is a bit challenging to locate at first. Around eye piece reads: Krauss Bausch& Lomb, Paris, Rochester, NY, USA, Tokyo, petrogram. Also on the body of mircoscope reads: Bausch& Lomb Optical co. Rochester, NY, USA. The piece on the eye of the microscope looks to be 20x wide F. There is also maybe a serial number on the eye piece: 121604. This mircoscope measures 11 1/2" tall and does show some wear and age as shown in pictures but I don't see any broken pieces or cracks. Please pay within 3 days after auction has ended. RARE 1800s Vintage Brass Student Microscope with Rack & Pinion Focus
Featuring Rack& Pinion focus and a compound lens. This rare, Nineteenth Century Brass Student Microscope is in fair original condition with a few correctable problems. The rack and pinion turns and adjusts freely, while the brass arm that holds the lens appears to have a slight bend. One of the two specimen slide clips is missing; and the small, secondary eyepiece lens appears to be cracked with a small missing sliver. The primary lens appears to be fine, and the general appearance of the unpolished brass appears to be good. Each individual part is die-stamped with a small part number. The non-original base is simply a piece of wood that someone stained(the actual base would be a small, dovetailed box with a storage drawer) I believe this microscope was the first item I purchased when I started ebay back in 1998. This listing is for a vintage Bausch& Lomb brass and cast school microscope. The patent date is Feb. 16. 1897. This piece came out of an old school that has been torn down. There are 3 lenses. there is a 16mm- 0.26 lens. a 4mm-0.65. and the top lens is a#10. There are 5 glass slides and several glass slide covers in the drawer of the case. The microscope measures about 13 1/4" fully extended. There are spots on the brass finish. There are scuffs and scratches from use over the years. There is a chip in the glass on the#10 lens. The lenses need cleaned. I did not attempt to clean the microscope parts.I will leave that to the experts. This is a nice collectible piece. Thanks for looking!
