Antique Brass Map Distance Measuring Gauge Instrument Tool Switzerland c1800s Description: This is an antique brass and steel instrument for measuring ... moredistance on a map. It is marked Made in Switzerland and dates. I would guess, to the late 1800s. The scales reads'Inches to Miles or Verstes' and'Centimeters to Kilms. There is a castle logo flanked by the letters'F' and'C' at the end with the wheel. The gauge is 1 3/8 inches in diameter and the length including the brass handle is 4 1/2 inches. The dial is covered by a glass crystal that is cloudy in the center. The gauge works perfectly with the wheel turning in either direction and the hand moving accordingly. I checked it against a ruler and it seems to be accurate. An early map distance reading instrument to collect and use. Thanks for looking. Payment: I appreciate your interest in my auctions. Please make your payment within 5 days of the auction's end. Contact me for my mailing address if you want to pay by some means other than paypal. When items are to be shipped by first class mail. Early MicroScope---Antique---Medical Persons, Scientists, and Wonderful Nerds
Very Early Micro Scope circa 1800s? The microscope is made of wood and metal. The base is wood.about 6" long and 3 1/2" wide.maybe a 1/4" thick. A stamped metal ornate frame is nailed to the wooden base. The ornate frame holds a lense that allows focus on the viewing slide. Also attached to the wooden base is a mound that is encased in metal. I think it was the place that a candle or other source of light would have been placed so the item on the slide could be viewed. The metal frame is about 6" high. That's about all I know.I do believe that this is a very special item for those collecting early scientific or medical equipment. Thanks for looking. If you have any questions please email me and I'll answer as best I can. The bidding is started at $1.00 with $10.00 S&H. Please use PayPal to make the purchase ... moreif you are the lucky high bidder. Good Luck.

ANTIQUE TRAVELING TINY BRASS FOLDING POCKET MICROSCOPE / LOUPE NO RESERVE
For sale I have a truly antique brass pocket folding microscope/ loupe. Historically these were carried into the field to examine small specimens of insects or any thing diminutive. Folded it measures 1 and 1/8 by 3/4 inches. Unfolded it stands about 1 and 1/8 inches tall I see a great deal of new ones are being imported as loupes for examining jewelry Surely that is a handy use for them. Antique Vtg MYSTERY Brass Pressure Gauge Meter Specific GRAVITY Steam Whistle
Here is an interesting and unusual old brass scientific instrument or some sort of steam whistle perhaps. Originally from the estate of a collector of train. Ship and military items, I've had it for years and never had any idea what it was used for. It appears to be some sort of gauge to measure pressure possibly. The only markings I can find are the letters"sp.gr" on the ruler which I think is for Specific Gravity. There may be some missing components. Stands 18" high and has a few shallow dings. Otherwise, nice clean general overall condition. If you know what this is, I'd appreciate knowing! PLEASE NOTE: I ship once a week, generally Fridays.
Antique 1890's Microscope Slides 4 Teaching Medicine, Histology, Embryology, etc
Description: Here is a great set of over 40 microscope slides that were used in the teaching of Medicine. Histology, Embryology, etc. They date from before the turn of the century, and were all professionally prepared by Bausch& Lomb and by Ward's Natural Science Establishment. Of course, each specimen slide is labeled and still in great condition(one is broken in half, but still usable) They are housed in their original custom hardwood box, which(as you can see in the photo) opens and allows each of the 4 trays to easily slide out(every tray has 6 slots which can hold up to 3 slides each) The trays, as well as the box, are also still in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or major scratches(the box does show some staining and signs of wear-but after 120 years I guess I would too) The box is about 9.5" x 5" x 3" ... morePlease Note: As you may know. EBay now requires a shipping cost be entered when listing an item for international sale, and it is impossible to accurately do so without knowing the final destination. The price that I have entered is just a guess to cover the cost to anywhere in the world, and you will not be charged any more than that; however, if the actual shipping cost is less, then you will be issued a refund for the difference(we never add any extra for packaging or handling, so you will pay for the actual postage only) Fine Print: We invite questions. Prefer PayPal(although we will accept all other forms of payment) ship USPS twice a week, and offer a full money back guarantee(less shipping, which we try to keep close to, or just below, the actual postal charges) No, we're not a store, a dealer or even a collector; it's just time for us to get rid of some of this stuff. Shipping will be combined whenever possible. Any"cross-hatching" in the photo is from my crummy scanner, and not on the item itself. Thanks for your time.

ANTIQUE ULTRA SOMA-THERMO-RAY MODEL C. X-RAY MACHINE-VACUUM TUBE W/PLATES & PADS
ANTIQUE ULTRA SOMA-THERMO-RAY MODEL C. X-RAY MACHINE IN WOOD. W/PLATES AND PADS. I know very little of this item. Comes fresh from an estate. The pictures do not show it but there is a metal back. I just took it off to take pictures of the inside. This is very heavy and weighs almost 150 pounds. Made by Soma Ray Laboratories. San Francisco. California. The cord and plug will need to be replaced. In the drawer was an article referring to this machine. It was printed in the newspaper. Its from the Muscatine newspaper that quotes it from over 100 years ago. I will quote it word for word but I think that some of the wording in the article are incorrect. Drs. Fulliam and Miller, the up to date physicians on Second Street, have recently added a large micaphase static electrical machine in their office and are now prepared to give Muscatine residents ... morethe wonders of X-ray treatments, of which so much has been said and written. The above clipping will be included with this item. If there are any questions please ask and I will answer the best I can. This is local pick-up but I would be willing to ship freight as long as buyer pays exact cost. Plus insurance. I would have it professionally packaged and shipped. THANKS FOR LOOKING!
Rare and Antique Dilatometer in Working Order. Circa 1880
Rare and Antique Dilatometer in Very Good Condition and Working Order. Circa 1880 This curious item is a dilatometer: a device that calculates the change of volume of the different materials(metals in this case) when heated. It shows an extremely simple though ingenious configuration. Being in magnificent condition too. The instrument works fine and is quite attractive; it is made of polished brass, stands on a solid wooden base and mounts a silvery metal scaled arch. It is probably a teaching instrument, though these devices were also used by the factories to calculate the capacity for extension of the different materials. The article we are talking about has a solid mahogany base in good condition. Rectangular in shape and with four small square legs that provide it with height and stability. The brass components of the device are attached ... moreto the base. We can see two vertical stands, one at each end, that support the metal rods to be tested. The right stand has a screw to immobilize the rods. Between both stands there is a horizontal hollow cylinder with three chimneys designed contain wicks; these wicks must be lighted to heat the rod. When the user puts the rod over the three fires. The metal expands and the left end of the rod pushes a metal plate connected to a brass vertical stand. The plate is attached to a metal pointer; the two pieces make up an element that oscillates on a screw. The screw is connected to a 90-degree scaled angle. When the metal rod expands the pointer moves upwards and indicates the degrees corresponding to the maximum change of volume. This is quite a reliable system that, in spite of the trace of time, still works perfectly and preserves all its charm. Quite ingenious and full of character. This fantastic dilatometer is bound to become part of an attractive collection of scientific antiques. Measurements: Width: 16.5 in/42 cm. Height: 9.8 in/25 cm. I think I left nothing in the description but if I forgot something. I'll be glad to answer any questions. Bid with confidence. We a

This one has far less wear& tear on it than those typically do. That said, It does have some signs of normal use, including some finish discoloration and loss, this is partially due ... moreto the fact that this Great Scope's Factory Finish is- in part- clear lacquer over an Unusually Heavy SOLID Brass/Bronze Stand or Frame. The lacquer over-coat often get's discoloration over time in spots and patches from human handling. But these areas can be buffed out to an absolutely fantastic- incredible"Golden, shine or even a mirror polish if you want to take the time to do that. Scope works. Focus and Fine Focus work, Mirror spins and revolves, Diaphragm blades open and close easily and look very good, lower stage goes up and down smoothly, tilt works fine, turret revolves just fine. M issing are the 2 hold down pins. To hold a glass slide in place, but these are usually long gone from these Antique Scopes. Side screws for adjustments on either side of the table maybe bent from falling over, or may have come that way, as they match pretty well( I am not sure how perfect any of the lenses are. But at this point in it's life, this Lovely Scope is pretty much definitely going to a Collector/Buyer for Display Only anyway, which brings me to a Main $$$$ Selling Point. Someone else on Ebay has what looks to me to be The Same Model Carl Zeiss Microscope. Differen

This listing is a for a beautiful old instrument-100 years old next year. It would make a great addition to a collection of old scientific or medical equipment. Antique 1800s R & J Beck Brass 3 Power Microscope with Case & Accessories
This is an Antique 1800s R& J Beck Brass Microscope with its original Case& Accessories. This microscope has never been shined up so there is a lot of surface wear that has not been altered. There is also a part that goes where you look at your speciman that has a circular glass lens that is cracked. The case is very well constructed and has the original key. Even the tweezers have somehow stayed with this scope. The number 8918 is on the edge of one of the feet. I am by no means an expert on these scientific devices so please look closely at the images for best description. Shipping will depend on your zip code.

Antique 1920's CARL ZEISS JENA microscope camera outfit in wood box!
Here's an antique microscope camera outfit. Made by Carl Zeiss of Jena, Germany, probably in the 1920's, for making 4.5 x 6 cm exposures on glass plates or cut film. Please don't ask me to explain more about it or how it works because my knowledge of microscopy is rudimentary at best. I probably only know enough to be"dangerous" Whatever, you can see it for yourself, and although untested and I don't know how to operate the shutter(if it works at all after nearly a century) it appears to be in a very nice state of preservation, featuring clean bright viewing system, some sort of dedicated objective in its own little black metal storage tube, a pair of perfect original plate holders, a graduated exposure scale for test exposures, and an additional mask for making round exposures, all nicely protected in the original ... moreheavy duty wood outfit case. Very cool! Look at the pics below.it's a fascinating piece of vintage Zeiss technology! Postage is totally free to anywhere in the United States, but international buyers will be required to pay the actual cost of shipping this 5 pound 14 ounce package to their location by USPS Priority Mail. I'm sorry, in the United States we are legally obligated to use Priority Mail for international shipments weighing over 4 pounds. If you're not satisfied with the purchase for any reason, send it back within 14 days for a full refund, in accordance with eBay's guidelines. Thanks for looking at my eBay sale, and feel free to ask questions or offer comments.
