This piece is not marked anywhere. So we're not certain who made it or when, but based on the materials used and the style, we're guessing this dates back to the early 1900's. This microscope features a cast iron base, brass upper and a cast aluminum center section. The microscope has one adjustable eye piece, a rotating dial that lets in differing amounts of light and and adjustable magnifying glass on the bottom. It comes in a beautiful wooden case(possibly mahogany) that has dovetail joint construction and is really nicely built. The case has two drawers that are packed with glass slides, an extra eye piece, glycerin for setting ... morethe slides and some tools. This is a great set that would look amazing as a piece of decor, or would be a great addition to any vintage medical instrument collection! Condition: This piece is antique and used with some wear. The microscope is hard to focus. But appears to be working as intended. It may need some slight adjustments to work perfectly, but we see magnified, lighted images when we can get it to focus a little. There is light wear to the housing with some light tarnishing on the brass. The case is in good condition, but the two drawers in the case appear to be replacements and not original. Please look closely at the photos for condition details and ask us any questions before bidding. There is no signature only a number as shown in a picture on the underside of the prism. Looks like someone has added a modern light fixture. Possibly to make a lamp. Rochester NY. A brass and twin pillar iron base microscope with a convex mirror and with wheel stops with 4 different apertures. It comes with a Bausch& Lomb objective 8mm.50. 21X and a15X B&L eyepiece. There is a number 12 on the base of one of the claw feet. Dimension are 5" x 5" and a height of 11" to 13" Based on the signature. I estimate its production date to be ~ 1902. GUNDLACH BACKGROUND Gundlach was born in 1834 and emigrated to America in 1872. Already a well known and accomplished optician. His objectives were considered among the best, especially when cost was a consideration and ... morewere already being sold in this country by Queen& Co. In 1876, Gundlach went to work for Bausch& Lomb, in Rochester, making many contributions to the emerging Bausch& Lomb line of stands. By 1878, he had severed his connection with Bausch& Lomb, and opened his own business in Rochester. Rare Antique Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Spencer Belcher & Mason Microscope & Lenses
Here we have an antique microscope that is marked"Belcher& Mason Birmingham. England" on one part and on the lenses it's marked"Spencer Lens Co" It is also marked Spencer and Serial Numbered on the base. There are 4 eye pieces that are marked"Ernst Leitz Wetzlar" There is also a wooden box with sliding draws for additional eye pieces. I'm not sure what is missing but there is most likely a few parts missing. Also there is some damage to the rotating lens area of the microscope as you can see as well as wear all over the microscope. Very nice 19th Century microscope with Ross pattern Y-shaped foot. Has movable stage using a joystick. Comes with case with working lock and key. Two eyepieces and one objective. Microscope is beautiful to display. Nice tone. Foot and stage have beautiful swirly machined pattern finish. No makers mark I can find, but a very nicely built microscope. Stage moves with joystick. And substage there is a rotating aperture disk. Mirror is excellent. Note that the A. Topping lamprey section slide in some of the pictures is not included with microscope- it is there just for illustration purposes( and the books and other microscope cases in the background are also not included- they are just on the table where I took the pictures! I tried to take a photo through the eyepiece of the slide and that is shown in one of the pictures- looks a lot better ... moreto the eye as I could not focus my hand-held digital camera easily. Optics are excellent. Objective included is a low power(2" objective. It has a removable aperture stop as can be seen in one picture inset. Two eyepieces of different powers included. The case is a beautiful item to display. Nice aged tone and solid brass handle. Looks like this originally housed many accessories. Note that the wood platform that the microscope would be screwed on to is detached, and I did not fix this, it could be repaired. Case has crack on back panel which could also be fixed, or just left alone. There is a loose piece of wood in the case which would be hold or guide part of the microscope or accessory, I'll leave it loose. Antique Brass Field Pocket Microscope Eyepiece Magnifying Glass Etc
Here is a lot of antique scientific field instruments. I'm not exactly sure what they were all used for. There is one that is a pocket brass microscope for looking at slides. The other brass piece looks to be for the eyepiece of an early field microscope. Then there is another metal piece with tripod legs that I think was for using a magnifying lens. But the lens is not there. Then there is a little magnifying glass with clip for attaching to table and last is a little glass cup that has some a little magnifying lens on the end of it. Interesting lot, brass pieces measure approx. 1 13/16" in length.

this is an antique burdick medical heat therapy lamp called the zoalite type z2 and serial no. 258. made by the burdick cabinet co. of milton. It was acquired from the former owner's daughter who told me her dad was a scientist. This was his laboratory microscope box, and she was liquidating his estate. Box measures 13.75" tall by 8.25" by 6.5" It is being sold"as is" as was found for someone w ho collects old laboratory- scientific- microscope items. What makes this wooden box unique is that it still has its original Levitt-Ferguson Company plate on the top. I did not find any others by this maker for sale on line right now. I tried to find information about ... morethis maker but it was limited. I found a mention of the President making a speech in the 1920's and this address: 523 N. Eutaw Street. Baltimore, MD. This wooden box is not dated. I estimate it is circa early 1900's-1920's. I took photos from all sides so you can be sur e you are ok with condition and quality before buying. Patina outside finish has marks in various places. Rub and scuff, scratches, dings, remains of paper label, etc. There are two small holes in front door at bottom and along side. Front door has lock, no key. Metal hardware has wear and discoloration as you can see in the photos. Has three lens head, one is marked Bausch& Lomb, another marked SPI? PSI? This one has an electric lamp fixture, side mounted. Including electric power corded transformer and plugs.
