But everything seems to move and work great! This is a very rare microscope! You will not find one for sale anywhere! Great ... morefor the high end collectors! Biography: Robert Bruce Tolles was born 1823 in Connecticut and had little formal education. In 1844. He was apprenticed to Charles A. Spencer in Canastota, NY, and about 1858 established his own business in Canastota. By 1859, he was fabricating microscopes with Charles E. Grunow. Tolles made major innovations in the optics of microscopes and held several patents. In 1867. Tolles moved to Boston and became a partner in Boston Optical Works, at 66 Milk Street. And later 131 Devonshire Street, Boston. The partnership broke up in 1872, and Tolles continued the business on his own. Charles Stodder, who had been the distributor of Tolles microscopes and telescopes since 1860, and formerly a partner in the Boston Optical Works, continued to sell Tolles products after the dissolution of the partnership. After Tolles died in 1883. The business was carried on by Charles X. Dalton, who had worked for Tolles making metal microscope and telescope stands since his Canastota days and who had moved with him to Boston. This is a one deal and will not be relisted! Good Luck!

Small antique brass microscope parts(stage and optical tube) As is/ shown. Appears to be from a Cary Gould Type Field Microscope. Likely mid 1800’s. Unmarked. Some light loss of lacquer. 1800's - Attractive Antique Brass Microscope Gould Type - Unsigned / Incomplete
Attractive antique brass field microscope with wood box. I believe it is in the style of Gould. Unmarked. I estimate this to be from the mid to late 1800’s. Please review the photos for a better sense of the condition; happy to send additional pictures. It is incomplete. But still includes a lot of the major pieces to make it for a very nice presentation piece; not sure what would have been originally included, but it is certainly missing the reflecting mirror and there appears to have been some kind of additional attachment to the stage. There is some loss of lacquer on the brass. But still shows nicely. Gears slides up and down fairly well with some slight looseness(teeth are intact) Box is in good condition with a good antique glow. But some of the inside dividers have come off and there appears to be some minor gluing at some point. Please ... moredo not hesitate to ask questions. Antique brass Bertrand "furnace" microscope, mid 19th century
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE HE Offered for auction is a nice and very well preserved"furnace" microscope by Bertrand. Dating to ca. 1840-70. The catalogue of the Billings Microscope Collection of the Medical Museum(Washington DC. 1974) attributes this type of tiny"mineral or furnace type" to Français Bertrand and to the production date of 1840. This tiny version of the Martin"drum" microscope was designed in France by Bertrand in 1839. The little microscope mounts into the grooves cut into the lid of the mahogany box. This pocket-sized instrument mounts like a chimney on top of the mahogany case and that is perhaps the reason that this model is also known as a furnace type microscope. Despite the date supplied by the Billings catalogue. These pocket microscopes seem to have some variations, and ... moreit seems that they were marketed over longer sequence of time, I believe well into the second half of the 19th century. Indeed, Brian Bracegirdle suggests in the Science Museum catalogue(2005. On CD) the years 1880-90 as the date of some of these instruments. I think that it would be more logical to assume that this design. Having several variations in size and style, was manufactured between ca. 1840 and 1880. Here we see a somewhat larger version of Bertrand's"furnace microscope" This microscope is signed inside the case lid"Manufacture d'armes et de cycles de Saint-Etienne" Founded in 1888. This is most likely the retailer and not the maker hence the instrument may be decades earlier. Yet it does indicate again that these microscopes were traded also later than the 1st half of the 19th century. SHIPPING The microscope in its case will be wrapped very carefully and shipped promptly(usually the same day) after receiving cleared payment. Signed for and with tracking number. Please note, s hipping will be made by express mailing service(EMS) Hence it is expected to arrive within five working days. HOWEVER. Sometimes items are held by the customs for

Circa 1850 Thomas King Bristol England Antique Brass Microscope
This is an English microscope. It is circa 1850's. It was made in Bristol. Microscope is 13 inches tall. Thomas Davies King(1819-1884) exhibited three microscopes(at least one of which was of his own design) And an illuminator, at the 1851 Great Exhibition of London. These were described as, Compound achromatic microscope mounted on a pyramidal tripod, with mechanical stage, traversing in rectangular planes by micrometer screws, achromatic condenser, polariscope, double refracting goniometer, cobweb micrometer and other eye-pieces, insect forceps, and various accessories. In this microscope the weight is equally distributed over the base, and when inclined at its working angle the chief portion is brought below the point of suspension; the traversing stage has divided scales and verniers, whereby admeasurements can be accurately determined” ... morea“Student's compound achromatic and single microscope” and an“Improved spherical prismatic illuminator, for transparent and opaque microscopic objects, enabling the rays of light to be thrown either obliquely or vertically” He was awarded an Honourable Mention for“workmanship. of the first order” His business was located at 2 Clare Street, Bristol, which was also his family’s home. Sometime thereafter, another shop was opened on the corner of Denmark Street and St. Augustine’s Parade. This information is an excerpt from Brian Stevenson's essay on Husbands and Clarke(at one point King's senior journeymen) I recommend reading this essay if you are interested in 19th Century microscopes from Bristol. Antique brass E. Leitz Monocular Microscope, unrestored condition.
Antique brass E. Leitz Monocular Microscope. Unrestored condition. This is an Ernst Leitz microscope No. 224377. Note: it appears to be all original Leitz except the nosepiece is from a Spencer. The objective is marked: 3 E. Leitz Wetzlar, the condenser is not marked but does have a freely working iris diaphragm, the condenser carrier has an unusual(to me at least) height adjuster. The plano/concave mirror looks good and the coarse and fine focus adjustments are both silky smooth. Since I don’t normally deal with antique microscopes, I have not made any attempt to clean or polish this microscope. I think it would look great if it were cleaned up. NO RESERVE.This is an ANTIQUE 19th Century Brass Microscope. Box, and Multiple Lenses.A fairly LARGE microscope measuring 18 inches tall. This scope is a bar-limb type and has an unusual"joystick" maneuverable stage that is much like a Joseph Zentmayer. The scope itself has no name markings, but has a LARGE No. 77 on the front and a small A on the tube.It most resembles some early 1850s era J& W Grunow microscopes I found researching online. It is tarnished, but it good condition. The mirrors are good, and the lenses are all nice. Some of the lens have Bausch& Lomb on them, but I am reasonably sure this is NOT a Bausch& lomb microscope. There are other unusual lenses and LARGER size eyepiece/ tubes also included that I am sure are correct for this scope. The box has wear, but is still pretty nice and has two drawers inside. No ... moreKey.Overall a very unusual and early brass scientific instrument.Buyer Pays Shipping. Antique Vintage German Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Brass Microscope #2
Antique German brass microscope. Marked E. Leitz Wetzlar Germany No. 250088 Very good condition; I do not see anything wrong with it. No scratches, dents or damage that I can see. It came from the estate of a doctor who had a large collection of microscopes. This was on a shelf in his home library. It appears to have been well taken care of. As to whether it is in working condition. My best guess is that it probably is functional, considering where it came from and how it was stored and displayed. I am not a science person, nor an expert on microscopes, and only remember how to use one from high school science classes, but from what I can see, it is in very good to excellent condition, and all the knobs rotate freely and easily. It is heavy and weighs about 8 1/2 lbs. Please see photos and feel free to contact me if you have questions. I ... morepack carefully and usually ship on the next business day after payment clears. Antique brass microscope lens rare vtg unique science artifact mechanical scope
This microscope lens is in very good shape besides the cosmetic wear. The item is disassemble-able. You can remove both lenses from either side. The peice is about 2 inches long. I have taken pictures of the item disassembled so you can see how old it really is. The smaller lens is actually a cube of solid glass, and the larger one is coin shaped. It doesn't work like a telescope, if you look through it, it will be blurry.
