I believe the serial number dates it to the 1920's. It still operates beautifully and is in terrific condition. The comes with an original Leitz paper certificate tag. The brass and other metal parts have a wonderful patina and very little wear or discoloration spots. It's amazing how well the microscope still functions and produces a bright and sharp image. This is an English microscope. It is circa 1850's. It was made in Bristol. Microscope is 13 inches tall. Thomas Davies King(1819-1884) exhibited three microscopes(at least one of which was of his own design) And an illuminator, at the 1851 Great Exhibition of London. These were described as, Compound achromatic microscope mounted on a pyramidal tripod, with mechanical stage, traversing in rectangular planes by micrometer screws, achromatic condenser, polariscope, double refracting goniometer, cobweb micrometer and other eye-pieces, insect forceps, and various accessories. In this microscope the weight is equally distributed over the base, and when inclined at its working angle the chief portion is brought below the point of suspension; the traversing stage has divided scales and verniers, whereby admeasurements can be accurately determined” ... morea“Student's compound achromatic and single microscope” and an“Improved spherical prismatic illuminator, for transparent and opaque microscopic objects, enabling the rays of light to be thrown either obliquely or vertically” He was awarded an Honourable Mention for“workmanship. of the first order” His business was located at 2 Clare Street, Bristol, which was also his family’s home. Rare Superb Antique Brass Field Microscope in Fine Mahogany Case
Fresh from the local Cape Cod estate we offer you this fine brass microscope with the original box. This instrument is unsigned but is beautifully constructed and it includes two lenses(marked 1 and 3) as shown. Everything works smoothly and it appears that the instrument was well cared for. The mahogany box measures 10 1/4" long. 2 1/4" high and 5 1/2" wide. The box serves as a base as shown on the photos. Antique brass E. Leitz Monocular Microscope. Unrestored condition. This is an Ernst Leitz microscope No. 224377. Note: it appears to be all original Leitz except the nosepiece is from a Spencer. The objective is marked: 3 E. Leitz Wetzlar, the condenser is not marked but does have a freely working iris diaphragm, the condenser carrier has an unusual(to me at least) height adjuster. The plano/concave mirror looks good and the coarse and fine focus adjustments are both silky smooth. Since I don’t normally deal with antique microscopes, I have not made any attempt to clean or polish this microscope. I think it would look great if it were cleaned up. Found this at a very unique auction! The guy was mid 80s and he was a machinist/ mad scientist for General Electric. He had more contraptions than Einstein! Very unique and rare items. He made a lot of the stuff and he was known for making amazing telescopes. This was found in the basement and I just thought it was awesome! I don't know if he made it but as his other worked showed he had the capability. I couldn't find any markings. Use as microscope or repurpose! Nice brass work! Thanks for looking! ANTIQUE BAUSCH& LOMB BRASS MICROSCOPE SERIAL 65202 approx. 1906 Up for sale is antique Bausch and Lomb Microscope. The name of the manufacturer is boldly identified on the triple position rotating objective and three smaller objectives. There is the inscription on the right side of the horseshoe foot as follows: Bausch& Lomb Optical Co. Rochester. N.Y” see image) and on the left side is"Arthur H Thomas Co. Philadelphia" Both inscriptions are very faint. A brass medallion found on the rear of the foot provides us with the serial number of the instrument. 65202” see close-up image) At the base of the body tube is a B&L triple position rotating objective nosepiece equipped with the following B&L objectives: 16mm. 4mm and 1.9mm When the graduated drawtube is depressed into the body tube and the body tube is fully racked ... moredown to its lowest position. The microscope stands about 12 inches tall. When the instrument is set up for observations with the drawtube fully extended, it stands about 15 inches tall. Condition: Microscope is non working condition. It has a few missing parts. 10X eyepiece appears to be non original. There is some rust and age spotting.

This is a stunning original antique Bausch and Lomb Optical Co. Brass microscope made for Temple University in 1915#82. it comes with is original 1915 handmade box which is nicely dovetailed together. It is fastened with a pivoting handle at the top. A lock which has a key and does work, a mount on the bottom to hold the microscope, and original wood sliding holders at the top. The microscope is in very nice condition and all the components work accordingly. it is an extremely heavy piece and measures 11 inches tall by 7 inches by 4 inches. the box is also in nice antique condition and has acquired a lovely patina from age.measures 15 1/2 by 7 by 8 1/2 inches. it is a very nice quality set the only piece missing it the top eye piece but can be purchased right here on ebay. Antique 19th Century French Microscope Brass & Cast iron w. orig box
Here is a great antique French microscope with original box in much better than average condition. Measures 8 1/2 inches in when retracted. Made of brass and cast iron. Original gold paint on base. Optics are clear. Reflector is foggy. Brass has nearly all of the original lacquer on it. Knob retracts it fine and the top lense is removable. Box is in fine condition, beautiful wood, missing one wood spacer as shown. All seams tight. Box has a name I am guess was the original owner and what looks like a retailer stamp on the bottom. Box measures 9 1/2 by 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 inches. Superb example of a mid 19th Century Microscope. Guranteed original for ever. Thanks for looking. Payment to be remitted within 4 days.

Grapf Apsco 900x Antique Brass Microscope . Working Condition .
This is for a 900x Grapf Apsco brass microscope. It has been tested and is in good working condition. The fine focus is free and works well. The 90x objective lens is clear and is an upgraded APO achromat. It requires immersion oil for the best resolution. The objective lenses are 10x. 43x and 90x APO achromats. There are no stage clips, but a piece of a prepared slide is in place for testing. There is a two or three business day wait after cleared payment is reeceived, untill I can ship it out. Offered is an Unmarked French Antique Lacquered Brass Field Drum Microscope from ca1850's. Additionally it is a Monocular Compound Achromatic Brass Microscope. The bottom of the body tube has two screw on and off lenses for adjustment of magnification. It features a bull's eye lens. The original Mahogony wood box, glass plates, and a period tweezer. It is 9" tall fully extended and has a 2 3/4" bottom diameter. I did clean up all the lens and provide a basic clean-up on the entire microscope with Windex only. Since it is unmarked. I was able to access a multitude of pictures and info concerning French Drum Microscopes, and I will share my research ... morewith you. I will provide four manufacturers' or instances of this type of microscope, to provide dating and provenance: 1. Charles Chevalier lived from 1804 to 1859. His 1848 microscope which can be found on Ebay. Is functionally similar to the instrument being offered, though not as sophisticated as far as features, and operational knob control. Since he worked through 1959, it was very possible that he added the features seen as he progressed from 1848 to 1959. 2. Construction No. 3 by Lerebours& Secretan. Antique German brass microscope. Marked E. Leitz Wetzlar Germany No. 250088 Very good condition; I do not see anything wrong with it. No scratches, dents or damage that I can see. It came from the estate of a doctor who had a large collection of microscopes. This was on a shelf in his home library. It appears to have been well taken care of. As to whether it is in working condition. My best guess is that it probably is functional, considering where it came from and how it was stored and displayed. I am not a science person, nor an expert on microscopes, and only remember how to use one from high school science classes, but from what I can see, it is in very good to excellent condition, and all the knobs rotate freely and easily. This Spencer Lens Co. 1900 Microscope has a Brass Body and a Cast Iron Base. The only large part that is magnetic is the base. The eye piece is 8X. And the bottom lens is a Bausch& Lomb 2/3 Series 1, 25 NA. The Patent was given on December 11, 1900 with the date that the Microscope was made was August 28, 1906. The microscope is about 11 5/8" in height. The base is about 5 7/8" deep with the width of about 4 3/16" I found this microscope at an estate of a Dr. from Illinois. This microscope lens is in very good shape besides the cosmetic wear. The item is disassemble-able. You can remove both lenses from either side. The peice is about 2 inches long. I have taken pictures of the item disassembled so you can see how old it really is. The smaller lens is actually a cube of solid glass, and the larger one is coin shaped. What a great find. Looks like a beautiful museum piece. For it's age I would say condition is decent. Microscope moves and appears to function but the lens are dirty and need to be cleaned. To be fully functional I would believe it needs a good thorough cleaning/ oiling ect. It appears to be mostly complete. Pictures show the different lens and eyepieces that are included. The wooden case has some wear. It has a crack on one side but is still solid and working. The lock is broken and appears the key broke off inside of it. For this item please inspect and study the images as they are your best description. There should be no need for returns but as an antique item like this it sells for AS IS. Antique German brass microscope. Marked: E. Leitz Wetzlar Germany No.152080 Good vintage condition; there are some signs of wear: there is a chip on two of the corners of the flat surface where the slide goes. The japanning on the cast iron base shows wear. It came from the estate of a doctor who had a large collection of microscopes. This was on a shelf in his home library. It appears to have been well taken care of. As to whether it is in working condition. My best guess is that it probably is functional, considering where it came from and how it was stored and displayed. I am not a science person, nor an expert on microscopes, and only remember how to use one from high school science classes, but from what I can see, it is in very good condition, and the knobs rotate freely and easily. Dancer- Optician- Manchester(UK) Although in very good mechanical condition much of the original clear lacquer is deteriorating or missing from this instrument. This is most evident on the foot. Support standards and stage. This Microscope has an unusual stage motion which is achieved through a complex(for the time) centering mechanism. The stage is controlled by 2 knurled disc screws set at 45 degrees to the stage. A front to back sliding slide-holder rides in grooves set in the upper stage platform. No condenser or other sub stage components are present. The Flat mirror shows deteriorated silvering however the Convex mirror is in good condition with slight deterioration mostly at the edges. The tube length is adjustable through use of a telescoping inner-tube which has a usable extension of about ... more4&1/2" The coarse focus rack and pinion are in very good condition with no missing or damaged teeth. The focusing range is long at nearly 5" The fine focus control is of a type common with instruments from this period and uses a knurled wheel screw- set close to the objective- to drive a lever used to move only the objective mount. The mirror at the bottom has some black specks on it but is still very useable. There is one glass slide in the box wrapped in presumably a very old piece of cloth. It is attributed to Nachet. Also resembles German model based on the Oberhaeuser pattern. Made in the the mid 1800's. I have not been able to find an exact match to this microscope. Shutter rolls open. plate moves underneath. Scope goes up and down missing glass. I have tried to show a curate pics. Email me if I am missing something or u have questions. Measures 23 1/2 at highest on scope. Screw on shutter has bend although operates smooth so not sure if it's suppose to be that way. The scope doesn't have the smoothest movement when compared to slide movement and has a fall at bottom. tightening and cleaning? This is an ANTIQUE Spencer BRASS Microscope. It was given to me by my family doctor in 1955- he had it in medical school. It comes with a very tall beautiful GLASS VESSEL(Bell Jar) enclosure that envelopes the microscope. SEE PHOTOS) The Bell Jar consists of very thick heavy glass with a flat smooth bottom that creates a tight seal. It is 19.25 tall x 11” diameter at the base. And a 9” diameter cylinder. The combination of the vessel and microscope makes for an exquisite presentation. Both have been kept in air conditioned storage for 51 YEARS! The microscope is in very good condition. Esthetically& functionally. It seems to have an unusually INTRICATE STAGE MECHANISM and lens mounts under the stage(see photos) It is marked Spencer Lens Co. Buffalo New York. Antique French Victorian Brass Microscope w/light magnifier & nice storage box.
This is a no reserve auction. If you collect scientific instruments. You will want to see this item. You are looking at a beautiful French made 19th century Victorian, turret-less microscope of beautifully polished brass. When the two beautiful telescopic shiny brass tubes are fully extended the microscope stands a full 15 1/2" tall. With the tubes fully retracted, it stands 11 1/2" tall and stands on a sturdy 3 1/4" W x 5 1/4"L, base. The stage that the specimen slide rests on is 3" x 2 1/2" It is focused in 3 ways. The general focus is attained by pulling out the upper tube to get in the general focusing range. Once you have the range, you attain a finer focus with the vertically mounted brass knobs on either side of the ocular tube. On the lower powered lenses, this is generally all that is needed to bring ... morethe specimen into crystal clarity. On the higher powered lenses, a yet finer focus can be attained by turning the horizontally mounted brass knob on the backside of the microscope. The microscope and its' accessories comes in a beautiful wooden box measuring 12 1/4"H x 6 1/2"W x 3 3/4" D, with storage for the(4) black eyepieces numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 and(3) brass lenses numbered 1, 2& 3. There is a paper table in French, inside the door which tells you the power of the various combinations of these eyepieces and lenses. There is also a beautiful light magnifier mounted on a beautiful brass stand, which has a compound hinge that enables you to set it up at any angle, in any position around the microscope to magnify light into the mirror so as to sufficiently light the prepared slide. There is also a pair of tweezers, a scalpel and a pointed probe for dissecting and preparing specimens for viewing. Underneath the stage(which is the platform that the slide sits on) is an adjustable shutter that closes and opens to enable you to let in the amount of light necessary to see the specimen at its' maximum advantage.
