Vintage Dog Cast Iron Weather Vane PARTS LOT
Up for auction is this vintage cast iron dog weather vane. It is being sold as a PARTS LOT only because it has several broken pieces that will need mending and the tip of the dog's tail is missing. It looks like the original paint. Though it does have surface corrosion and will need to be refurbished. It appears to be all there(Except the tip of the dog's tail) and should stand approx. 30" tall when assembled. The"W" and the tail of the arrow are broken off. It is heavy cast iron so shipping is based on the weight of the item.

WEATHER VANE: Antique Horse, Painted Iron, 19" Tall x 31.5" Wide
WEATHER VANE: Antique Horse. Painted Iron. 19" Tall x 31.5" Wide This is a really wonderful Weather Vane featuring a trotting Horse and a very long arrow. I acquired him on a visit to South Dakota to see a friend with whom I was at university. The Horse and his Arrow and the Directionals are all made of heavy gauge iron and seem to have several coats of paint and a good deal of rust which makes for a complex and beautiful patina. The Supporting Rod is also iron As he stands now on his wooden stand. He is 19 inches tall and 30 1/2 inches wide. The Horse himself is 6 1/2 inches tall from his hooves to the top of his ears, and 13 1/2 inches long from the front of his raised leg to the tip of his flying tail. The arrow is 22 3/4 inches long, and the Directionals, 18 inches long. I am almost positive that this Horse is the work of some ... morelocal craftsman. Rather than a mass produced piece. The turning device is beautifully and sturdily made with a hollow 3 inch thick walled shaft which slips over a smaller solid iron rod at the top of the Supporting Rod. My best guess is that this Vane probably dates to the early years of the last century. The surface is completely stable. And, apart from the obvious bend in the part of the Arrow on which Horse is attached, there is no damage to the Horse or the rest of the Vane. And he still turns cheerfully on his Rod. The photographs give an excellent idea of the quality and appeal of this wonderful example of American Primitive Art. If you should have any questions. Please don't hesitate to contact me. Vintage ANTIQUE CAST IRON / TIN WEATHER VANE PARTS
FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION are Two Vintage Parts of Two Separate ANTIQUE WEATHER VANES. THE COW is made of molded tin and halved together. It came off an Old Barn in Northern Maine. It dates back to the Early 1900's- this one in particular was made between 1900 and 1917 I would dare say. Measures approximately 9" inches by 6" inches by 1" inch. THE ARROW is as old but probably older than the Cow. Measures 16" inches.

May beautiful piece that has survived with little to zero use! This cast iron vane still sports. What I believe to be, it's original black paint, and shows no signs of deterioration/rust/damage! It is also complete with its original peach colored glass pane, that is cut to match the odd shape of the frame(see pictures) The other vane I have for sale is pictured to offer a size comparison, as the vane in this auction is much larger than other examples I have had in the past, and also much more ornate.The"Shinn" vane is not part of this auction. Vintage Antique Iron/Aluminum Lightning Rod Weather Vane Directionals As Found
Up for auction is a vintage antique grouping of as found architectural weather vane directionals and arrows recently found at auction in the Lancaster County PA area. They are offered as found. The directional North South appear to be a set. The East West fits directly on top, however the E has been broken off even though it appears to have been welded at one time. These pieces are made of metal and attract a magnet. They show pitting and weathering. The other part offered is a directional arrow missing its tail. It is made of cast aluminum and does not attract a magnet. It is not marked. The arrow is approx 16.5" and the N-S is approx. 21" A nice grouping of vintage to antique architectural weather vane remnants. The letters are approx 3 1/4" The arrow hole seems between 1 3/8& 1.5" and the letters seem between 3/4& ... more7/8" Best of luck in bidding. Estate sale find. No cracks or missing cast iron. Included is the original brass bushing(the screw backs out just enough to slip over a pole) The screw that holds the missing piece of glass is brass and I could not loosen it with damage but. You can just bend the tab to insert new glass. 23" long by 4 1/2" by tail. The bushing is about 7/8' inside diameter and the hole in the cast iron is about 1" in diameter. WEATHER VANE: Antique Rooster Whirligig, Painted Iron 21.5" Tall, 11" Wide
WEATHER VANE: Antique Rooster Whirligig. Painted Iron 21.5" Tall. 11" Wide This is a charming old Whirligig featuring a Rooster which I picked up many years ago in Salisbury. Maryland, which is the capital of the poultry raising business on the eastern shore. This Rooster is made entirely of iron. One side of him was painted white with his whirling wing. Red. The other side was painted red, with the wing, white. I am sure that this is a one-off creation by some local craftsman as the thick iron has been cut relatively roughly. But the unknown maker achieved quiet a charming figure. As he stands now on his wooden base. This Rooster is 21 1/2 inches all and 13 inches wide. As the photos show, he has developed quite a bit of rust, but he still stands tall and his wings turn cheerfully in the wind. On the whole. This Rooster is in pretty ... moregood shape and the photos give a very good idea of this charming example of American Folk Art. If you should have any questions. Please don't hesitate to contact me. Iam pleased to offer this early 1800s cast iron lightning rod directional arrow that came from a barn in one of my picks this summer. It measures 14 1/2" long and 2 1/4" at the widest point on the arrow. It is weathered beautifully for age and has many little dimples from many years of service and has no breaks. Repairs, worn through spots. Very even aged. Nice look and interesting design work. See all pictures. Antique Folk Art Tall Rooster Iron Weather Vane Long Island Shipping Available
This is an incredible antique iron weather vane in the form or a Rooster. The vane stands 53 1/2" tall that's 4 feet 5 1/2" and is 36 1/2" wide. It is made of iron with iron brackets and rosehead(hand made) rivets. The Rooster came from Long Island New York possibly from a barn however there are no bullet holes or marks. But then again it is iron. We have him standing on an iron folk art stand, very sturdy. The Rooster is painted with dark highlights and there are traces of gold guiding on the surface. The iron is almost 1/8" thick and the bracketing is incredible. The Rooster is more than likely from the early to mid 1800"s as this is when this style of construction was popular.
