This is an old antique medium purple milk glass lightning rod ball. It measures 4 1/2" across and the rod hole is 1" It is in great condition with no cracks or breaks. The collar rings do have normal age chipping as shown. This would make a nice addition to any collection. I do have other gl obes in my store and can combine shipping to save on postage. Cracks, scratch marking, etc, but as usual, the cuff rim edges are rough from use wear. There is also light dirt debris still inside the ball. VINTAGE ANTIQUE PURPLE MILK GLASS BALL LIGHTNING ROD - FOLK ART DECOR - RARE
ANTIQUE LIGHTNING ROD PURPLE MILK GLASS GLOBE RARE! Globe appears white in photos but is a light purple color) This vintage lightning rod was taken off of a early 1900's farm barn here in Iowa. It served there on the top for over 90 years and was taken down before the barn was torn down. This lightning rod is made of copper and iron and is in good condition for its age. This includes the purple milk glass ball globe which is rare and hard to find. The glass is intact with a small chip on the edge which is hardly noticeable. The total height of the lightning rod is 76" from top to bottom. The glass bulb is 4.5" wide. This great piece of antique. Farm folk art will make a great addition to any home or building décor.

Lot of 5 purple lavender amethyst milk glass lightning rod globes balls
This a lot of 5 lightning rod balls/ globes. They came from the roof of an old home from the early 1900's. And I believe are original(the original roof was replaced at the same time the lightning rods were removed) They are glass(milk glass, I believe) and have a light purple or lavender color. The approximate measurement is 4 1/4 diameter and 4 3/4 tall including ends. The ends have chipping. I have taken pictures of the globes showing both sides(see last two photos in which globes are in same order, just shifted a little in angle so that both holes can be photographed) The globes are also dirty(I believe from the soot of the old heating system, as there was much black soot that came down when the roof was replaced) Please feel free to ask any questions.
