Antique Cast Iron Ornate Weathervane Lightning Rod ARROW ~Looks to be Kretzer
ANTIQUE ORNATE IRON ARROW Measures 22.75" long. There are no breaks. Cracks, or repairs to this fancy old arrow. An eBay search shows me it looks just like a Kretzer but I don't see the name where it usually is. See my last photo. Don't know if they were ever unmarked or if it could wear down that much? We are not weathervane people. There is no glass. See photo 8.Should there be something there to hold the glass? We suspect so.Probably an easy fix for those accustomed to working with weathervanes.

Antique Pig Weathervane Lightning Rod Arrow Primitive Folk Art W/ Bullet Holes
This auction is for a old Pig Weathervane/Lightning Rod Directional Arrow that came from a Missouri estate. It measures 21 5/8" x 5 3/8" The metal pig which I think is zinc measures 9" x 5" The arrow is cast iron and is straight. The back part of the arrow that the pig stands on is designed with twisted metal. It appears that a piece that originally went to one of the back legs is broken. I have a close up of it in the pictures. As you can see this little piggy was used for target practice and has several bullet holes in his body. The legs. Ears, nose, and tail are intact and the pig is secure on the arrow. It is weathered from lots of years on the barn and the cast iron arrow has some rust. I am guessing this one dates back to the 1920-30's. Up for consideration is this stunning 23" Kretzer lightning rod arrow. Made of brass this arrow has a great patina. There is no damage or repairs. The glass is an NOS Kretzer glass that was very difficult to obtain. This is the only modification to this arrow. Also included is the original Kretzer brass ferrule the arrow was mounted on, this also is in great untouched condition, screws work as they should. On my other auctions this week I have listed the pendant hanger and ajax topper that were on the same rod. I personally removed them from a roof and they are new to the market. The best part is this piece is marked'Kretzer' What a fabulous thing it is to find a piece marked by the maker or company. A bit of research has informed me that Kretzer weathervanes are from the early 1900's. St. Louis seems to be the home of the manufacturer. A few years ago. My brothers and I had the ominous job of cleaning out the farm house and barns our family built in the 1890's. We were thrilled to send one of our much younger limber cousin's up on the roof of the very old house to bring down the lightning rods. Old cast iron kite tail lightning rod arrow with original purple/dark plum glass insert and mounting ferrule. The glass is textured. Bubbled on one side and wavy on the other. The top of the ferrule is flared out which prevents easy removal; it has verdigris and remains of black paint. The set screw turns freely. Antique Weathervane- Zinc or Tin- Original Lightning Rod Arrow
This is a nice vintage weathervane made of zinc or tin. It may have had a glass piece at one time but I don't see anything that would have held the glass in place- there are no clips or screw holes where clips would have gone. Anyway. The weathervane is in nice shape with normal pitting and wear typical of the age of the piece. I did not try to clean it, I know the patina is important to most people. It measures about 21 inches long. I have another old weathervane arrow on now and will be happy to combine shipping. Thanks for looking.

VINTAGE WEATHERVANE LIGHTNING ROD ARROW primitive wrought or cast iron part
For your consideration is a vintage weathervane/ lightning rod arrow that I recently came across at a local estate auction. It measures 13 inches in length. It looks quite old and it looks like it may have been buried at some point. For some reason the end opposite the point is not nearly as pitted as the rest of the piece. It appears that it may be fragile so I wouldn't go trying to bend it. I have a good padded box to ship it in so that it arrives undamaged. Please inspect the photos and if you have any questions. Antique Cast Iron Lightning Rod / Weathervane Arrow Amber Glass w Globe Ends 20"
I purchased this Lightning Rod Arrow with Amber Textured Glass Tail Insert at a farm estate sale here in rural WV. It is a cast metal probably cast iron and has ornate decorative work. The glass ball had been broken years before and the farmer had tied the ends for the glass ball onto the arrow so I left them. They are some sort of light metal and one has a bend but can be straightened. The arrow measures 20" and I see no damage other than some oxidation and light scraping.

Antique Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow Ruby Red Glass Tail
This antique lightning weathervane is made of cast iron with rudy red glass tail. Please see in picture 2 there is damage to the tail. Where one of the iron decorative swirls came off at the bottom. Measures 18 1/2 inches long. There is some rusting. There is slight damage, imperfections to the glass two corners of the glass has been chipped, slightly noticeable, but not large enough to have major damage. There is also an area at the edge there is a spot where its a clear glass that has formed a slight appearance of clouding, it appears to be either manufacturing imperfection in the glass or it got hit by lighting? Orig Miller Quality Lightning Rod Weathervane Bayonet Tip, Glass Ball & Arrow BO
All Original signed Miller Quality on the brass bayonet tip. I have listed this item as Buy it Now or Best Offer. A magnet does not stick to the bayonet tip or the ring that goes around the glass ball. I am not sure if it is silver. Brass or copper. The bayonet tip measures from top to bottom 10" and the tip of the three sided bayonet has a very sharp tip on the end and has a green color to it. The steel arrow measures 15" from the tip of the arrow to the end, the end of the arrow is missing. The steel arrow is approximately 1/4" thick steel. The glass ball measures approximately 6" tall and is approximately 4 1/4" across. The ball has a non metal ring that goes with it. The lighting rod was taken off of an old 1800's barn years ago that was being demolished and was stored away in my collection. I am selling all ... morethe pieces together and not breaking them up. You get what you see in the pictures, the bayonet piece, the ball ring, the smoky glass ball, and the steel arrow. I have taken twelve pictures so you can see all the features of this unique lighting rod. There are no cracks in the glass ball. Where the ball would sit on the lighting rod rings it does have rough edges, but the glass on the ball itself is not cracked or chipped, it does need cleaned, I will leave that up to the professional.
