I found this Large Cast Aluminum Horse at an estate sale. They didn't know where it came from other than it was their Parents. It looks like it was attached to a weathervane and broke off. I tried to find one like it online but I could not. It is 19 1/2 inches long by 8 1/2 inches high and weighs 1 5/8 pounds. The number stamped in the back looks like 100023. This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. This weathervane was removed from our victorian home in Hastings. NE. the home was built in the late 1880's. It is made of Copper and has a lovely patina as you can see. The base has three holes for easy installation. It spins very easily. The vane is COMPLETE! The horse measures 13" The arrow 19" overall height is 20" I try to describe my auction as fairly as I can. It looks to be made entirely of brass but has oxidation over it. However, the fletching(where the feathers would be) is made of aluminium to catch the wind. I have seen another one of these on ebay before so I know the aluminum part is correct to the vane. There are four old bullet holes in the fletchings part of the arrow. This is shown in the photographs, as is some rust on the steel base mount. The arrow weathervane is in all original condition and came from an old farm building on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Vintage Weathervane Antique lightning rod Ball 21" Country Decor Farm Copper
For your consideration I have two copper lightening rods. They measure 21" tall. They do feature quite a bit of patina from years of being out in the elements but could be cleaned up nicely. The mounting brackets look as though they have been painted silver at some point. They both feature two rings with screws to hold the lightening ball in place. One goes on top and the other on the bottom of the ball. I am including a ball with each rod. One is a very pretty Easter purple color and the other is white. The balls are not cracked throughout but do exhibit some chips around the top and bottom rims as most all balls do. The rest of the ball is great condition. I do not have caps that go around the top and bottom rims of the balls. You do not need them but if you would like they can be purchased fairly inexpensive on Ebay. We found it in an old general store outside of the old Camp San Louis Obispo training camp( which dates to the First World War; the training area was actually sold to the US Govt during WW1 by W.R Hearst of the Sf Chronicle newspaper) The old general store was being re-utilized as storage. And they were planning on tearing it down next month. We were able to retrieve this old weathervane with their permission. It is being sold as pictured. As it is shown. Neat old vintage weather vane. This is an antique weathervane straight from New England. This handcrafted piece depicts the infamous horse pulling a doctor in a buggy. This 19th century folk art. It is well weathered and shows a nice patina. The horse and buggy measures 26" long and 13" tall. Antique Vintage Copper Horse Sulky Weathervane with Directionals
This is a lovely vintage HORSE& SULKY WEATHERVANE with original directionals. Cupola not included. Blown off a Connecticut Farmhouse during Hurricane Sandy. Total length of weathervane: 31" Width: 11 1/2" Height(from top of Horse to lower horizontal bar) 15" Distance between N to S. E to W: 22 1/4" Weathervane shows some sign of age. Including some spokes on the wheels that have come undone, bottom horizontal bar that has come away from one of the wheels, and reins have come away from the riders hand(coarse repair still in place- see photos) Fantastic authentic patina.
