This is one of the most desireable colors in the hobby.Color is accurate in the photos and condition is V NM.There are 2 small collar chips to one collar that caused a 2 inch nofeelum hairline into the ball as I have shown. Displays excellent and the chips can be covered with caps. Rod openings are 1 inch and ball is 4.5 inches, and should accommodate a spiral iron rod as well as a copper tube type rod. Antique Purple Glass Lightning Rod Ball / Moon and Star / Goshen Co.
Being offered is one antique glass lightning rod ball made by the Goshen Lightning Rod Company dating back to the early 1900's. It is amethyst in color with a moon and star pattern and measures approximately 4 1/4 inches across and 5 inches end to end from the collars(openings measure 7/8" inside diameter) There is some light chipping and rough edges on the collars which is quite common on antique lightning balls. Black scorching is visible but overall in great condition for its age. Amethyst in the moon and star pattern is hard to come by. Here is an opportunity to acquire one. This is an old original blue pleated lightning rod ball. It is in very good condition. There are no cracks or breaks. There is chipping to the collar ends which is very common with these old balls. Unusual Old Glass Lightning Rod Topper. Orange Pendant - Lightning Ball
Now this is a very interesting glass lightning rod topper in bright. Transparent orange that has spent the last 25 years or so inside as part of a local store display. This finial. Or pendant, or topper is an unusual bright orange color, sort of a mix between orange and amber. The finish appears to be applied to the glass, not mixed into it, but it is in good condition and judging by the thickness and imperfections in the glass itself, I am pretty sure this is a fairly old piece. Antique Vintage Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow White Milk Glass Ribbed Ball
Antique or Vintage. Kind of hard to date these, Lightning Rod/Weathervane. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. Also as shown in the pictures the pointed top does come off, and will be off for shipping. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so unless you have questions I'll just give dimensions. I've been told that this ball was sold by the Goshen Lightning Rod Co and they called it the Goshen design but not sure whether that is correct or not. We've added a Buy It Now for your convenience. Up for auction is a nice Hawkeye Lightning Rod Ball. This is a very light blue color. Almst white but not quite. Please view photos carefully. There are a few chips on the base of the ball rim and the top but are in overall good condition. These are over 100 years old so usually they have a few chips around the rim. See photos. Still a very nice collectable piece. I try to describe each item as best I can. I get many of my items at estate sales and I do test and/or inspect the items but have not used many of them so please view photos and ask questions BEFORE BIDDING! One of them is near pure white and it’s embossed National on the front. It has some damage to the top edge which is common on these pieces. The other has a purple tint that might just be from 100 years of sun exposure and it’s marked ELECTRA on the front. Great antique lightning rod weathervane with a silver mercury ball. This piece is in overall good antique condition. With a nice patina to it. Some signs of wear from usage and age, so please look closely at the pictures. The total height of the whole piece is 59" The finial measures 9 5/8" in total length, the exposed portion is 8 1/4" With the finial off, the rod itself is about 51" The twisted steel stand measures 39 3/4" high. The silver mercury ball measures 5 1/4" through the center hole, the inside of the opening is 1" and the outside of the brass cap is 1 3/8" The ball is approximately 5" wide. The copper rod is 49" long. I will detach this from the base and the globe will be shipped separately to keep everything safe. So it will be disassembled when you receive it. This piece has been lovingly preserved and installed on a decorative wood base for display. The center is a copper lightning rod with removable pointed top. The cow is a 3-dimensional construction made of thin metal. The other metal feels like cast iron? There are TWO glass balls. A white milk glass ball with dimples and a blue ball with stars! The top of the white ball has a few chips that you can see in the photos. The bottom of the blue ball has a few chips that are covered up by the metal fitting. Measures about 5 inches tall and is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter at widest point and 1 1/4 inches in diameter at the openings. It appears that it is a blue colored milk glass type glass. It is embossed with a diamond with"D&S" inside of it. Also embossed with Patent Pending. You can see the openings are a bit rough. But it looks like a lot of that is from the manufacturing. The one opening is stained and has more chips in it. My guess is there was a metal cap/sleeve type thing there and it rusted. This is a very cool blue colored piece to ass to your collection! PIG AND BEAUTIFUL COBALT BLUE GLASS BALL ON LIGHTNING ROD/WEATHERVANE
Beautiful iron lightning rod/weathervane with cobalt blue glass ball and hollow pig without bullet holes. I have never seen one of these rods with a pig in better condition. Rod stands 36" tall with a 22 1/2" arrow. Pig measures 8 1/2" long X 4 5/8" high. Has a small hole in the top which shows in the picture. Ball is 4 1/2" across with a crack on one side. I have tried to show this crack in the picture. Will not deter from displaying this beautiful piece as it's only on one side. This is truly a beautiful lightning rod/weathervane. VINTAGE W.C. SHINN MFG CO WHITE MILK GLASS LIGHTNING ROD BALL! BEAUTIFUL!
Hello. This auction contains one beautiful piece! This is a 100% authentic vintage W.C. Shinn MFG CO white milk glass lightning rod ball! Please see pictures, this is a super nice vintage piece! As you can see in the pictures it has W.C name across the middle of the ball. The lettering sticks out at you, very nice clean lettering! Pictures of every view! The top is perfect no breaks in the end. The grove for the cap is perfect! The bottom spout end is also very nice! no breaks, cracks and has perfect groves for the cap! The only spot on this piece is the very bottom spout piece there is a micro area of cleanable rust. Should be able to see in pictures! Not a big deal at all on this item! The end caps would cove that area anyhow. The whole ball is solid with no cracks or any problems! Coloring of the the white milk glass is very nice and just ... moreis as how it shouls be! Wonderful add on to that weather vane project! Bid with confidence and please see pictures! The only minor problem is the end caps are missing but they are so easy and inexspensive to replace and you would have a even more wonderful piece for your project or whatever you use it for once you added those! Like I said both ends of this item are ready for en caps! Won't see them this clean and solid often! The inside could use a cleaning but no big deal. The measurements are as follows even though most of you are familiar with these items butn here are the demensions; 5 inches apart from longest point. Diameter of the inner circle is 4 inches. Top open is aprrox 2 1/4 inch in diamter and the bottom opening is the same. Item will be safely and quickly shipped to you after payment! Stamping on the tip says" D x S Des Moines" This great looking old rod was salvaged from an old turn of the century era barn that was being taken down here in southeast minnesota. It has beautiful. Old, weather tarnished copper and iron patinas and would make an eye catching piece in any collection. The old copper rod is complete with a very sharp point on the top. It is just under 53" tall. The old originalGlass Ball is free of any cracks but does have the normal worn edges on the ends from weathering and wearing against the stand and rod that’s found on all old glass lightning rod balls. It measures 5 inches in diameter and has neat lavender tint in the glass. Everything is just as found. Clean and ready for display ... moreanywhere.
