In nice condition for it's age. A 10 sided white milk glass lightning rod/weather vane ball. Embossed with D& S Patent Pending. One end has some chips. The other end is discolored and also has very minor chipping. There are no end caps. Measures just under 5" long and 12" around.

Antique Lightning Rod Ball D & S Patent Pending Blue Milk Glass 10 Sided Decagon
Measures about 5 inches tall and is about 3 1/2 inches in diameter at widest point and 1 1/4 inches in diameter at the openings. It appears that it is a blue colored milk glass type glass. It is embossed with a diamond with"D&S" inside of it. Also embossed with Patent Pending. You can see the openings are a bit rough. But it looks like a lot of that is from the manufacturing. The one opening is stained and has more chips in it. My guess is there was a metal cap/sleeve type thing there and it rusted. This is a very cool blue colored piece to ass to your collection! 10 sided or panel blue lightning ball diamond mark patent pending copper caps
Howdy Folks, Hope all is well. Up for your auctioning pleasure or viewing is a blue 10 sided lightning rod ball. Has a diamond mark on 1 panel and on the opposite end it has"PATENT" on a panel then"PENDING" on the next panel. The glass has some swirls in it. The caps look like they used some kind of white caulk to hold them in place. No cracks as far as I can tell. Might be a ding or nick or 2. Some scratches I am sure. But hard to tell due to the color. Measures about 3 3/4" laying on its side measuring the flat panel to the table top and about 5 1/16" from cap to cap. Weighs about 10 ounces so looking at 1.15 pounds to ship safely. Folks the ball will need to be cleaned better. All we did was to rinse it out. Water spots are free. No pictures were enhanced but some were enlarged. Here is an antique milk glass 10 sided D& S lightning rod ball that has a subtle purple cast(but is not purple) The chemicals they used in glass back then would add a purple cast from being in the sun for so many years. This one has just a slight cast. I pictured it next to an all white one for comparison but the white one is not included(see last pic) This measures 5 1/4"T x 4"W. The top says"D&S" the bottom says"Patent Pending" It does have some age/weather discoloration even though I did clean it. It also has manufacturing flaws in the glass: has multiple lighter/white spots, most are tiny, 4 are larger.
