This item shows overall wear including scratches found throughout, missing paint, weathering and tarnishing to all the metal, bends to the metal of the brace at the bottom, minor bends to the arms of the directionals, there is a bend found in the letter, N” and this item is dirty overall. The arrow measures approximately 20.5” long. The directionals measure approximately 15” long, this item is 21” tall, and the bottom bracket is approximately 15.125” wide. Recent estate sale purchase. Bridport, Vermont. Purchased from one of our prime local vendors, we knew we just had to have this one. We do not know how old this one actually is. The few opinions we have had so far is 1940's but we honestly do not know as we are still novices in these type of items. Overall this piece measures 53" tall as mounted on the 1 1/2" wood base. The weathervane arrow measures 24" long. The rooster measures 19 1/2" tall x 15" long ... morex 3" thick. The body(including the head and the legs) appears to be two pieces of stamped copper(non ferrous? soldered at the seams. The tail is a flat piece of stamped metal soldered on to the body. The rooster is soldered on to the tubular arrow. The rooster does lift up and off the mount. With the exception of the two balls, one just below the arrow and the other below the directional markers, the remainder of this item is iron. The directional arrows are fastened to a tubular shaft with set screws. These are moderately rusted and weathered. This tubular shaft is threaded on to a round small mounting base plate which is fastened to the wood base. Very good overall condition showing atypical age related patinas, wear, corrosion, etc. We see a small spot on one of the arrow tail feathers detaching from the shaft and may need new solder or epoxy. We see the small two halved copper ball has a tendency to want to separate when not under pressure of the rooster pressing down on it. Another solder or epoxy fix. If we were to keep this for ourselves we would mount it back in the weather"as it is" A wonderful New England vintage weathervane. It is our intention to ship

Collection Of Antique Victorian Era Lightning Rod Weathervane Balls Farm Barn
Here we have for sale 5 old original lightning rod glass balls. These are all very nice quality old vintage balls. You get a SCA Moon& Star. An Amber Moon& Star, a SCA Electra, a Blue Milk Electra, and a SCA/WMG Diddie Blitzen. All balls are in great shape. Any collar chipping, a cap more than covers. There is no major chips on any of these, just nicks or small eraser size chips. No bb damage or cracks. I'm selling these as a starter collection. If they don't sell, then I may offer them separately. These are spares from my collection and are all old, vintage, hand picked items. Nothing phoney with these. A nice vintage"medium" size barn cupola from a barn roof in rural Syracuse. Nebraska. Measures 46 1/2" square and about 12 foot tall. Is attached and stands on four 4x4 wood lumbers. Some rusted out spots near crown, underneith, could be primed and stopped. About 10 bullet holes in total. The weathervane is present and removeable. Cast iron& copper weathervane. The animal from the fin of the weathervane is missing. But another may be attached. I supplied the two vintage blue glass balls. Here we have for sale a very old original lightning rod bayonet tip. The tip has the small 7/16" thread. The tip is a 10" brass bayonet. It has a nice looking bell style base. This style is attributed to Reyburn Hunter Co. and Smith- Hewitt as well as others. Has old black patina and maybe gold finish? Tip is in good shape. Not resharpened and she's not bent up. This is a great lightning rod tip and this 1880's- 1890's stuff aint easy to get anymore that isn't deteriorated away.

Old 1900's Original Franklin Lightning Rod Weathervane Farm Hardware Barn Find
Here we have for sale an old original lightning rod fresh from the loft of a Kentucky barn. Found this relic suspended from the rafters of a dilapidated barn here in South Central Ky. It has been dangling for quite some time as most of the green patina has tarnished with a rusty red finish. The tin roof was mostly ripped off and this was the only rod left. Rod is a 5' copper clad twisted style rod. Yes I know it doesn't look copper but it actually is. It's a copper plate over a steel rod, not a thin copper wrap. These were the most expensive rods on the market at the time but they didn't hold up well. The copper and iron didn't agree with each other. The copper plate is rust stained but if wire brushed will be bright copper except for were the iron has rusted thru the plating. The rod is still very solid with some minimal ... morepitting. The bottom fitting is stamped"Miller Quality" The bayonet is a 10" broad blade style stamped"Trade Franklin Mark" Stand is a 3' uninsulated style. Antique Weathervane Rooster 1940's Texas Cast Metal Art Country House or Barn Search I have an authentic metal rooster weathervane for sell. It is complete and it is ready for mounting. The weathervane was mounted on the roof of a neighbor's house in the early 1940's. I suspect it is much older than this. But I can only declare for certain that it is this old, because I remember it as a child. My parent's purchased the house at a later time and when they passed away the weathervane came into my possession. It measures approx. 35 1/2" tall and it is 27" wide measuring across the arrow. There is a round piece of metal beneath this. That they must have inserted into a small hole and then the weathervane had screws, that fastened the weathervane to the roof of the house. There is paint wear from being outside so many ... moreyears. There is some rust on the bottom round disk. But it has not harmed the metal and the wethervane just needs to be cleaned and painted or you can enjoy displaying it in his natural, weathered state. With a fan at one end and a prop at the other, the entire thing is made of wood with the exception of the fan, its made of tin. The workmanship on the prop is amazing. Entire length is 20-1/4 inches. Still has remnent of original paint on wood. Prop measures 8 inches across. In the center of the wood is the original nail that affixed this piece to the remainder of the body. Here we have for sale a very nice victorian era iron lightning rod. Lightning rod is made of twisted iron with brass fittings. Rod is 41" long with a nice big 10" brass bayonet. Rod has the bottom clamp. Bottom female fitting is stamped St. Louis L.R.Co. St. Louis. Mo. Stand is the standard style and measuers 24" tall. It is the insulated style with 2 white porcelain double collar style insulators. No damage to these. Real nice looking old lightning rod indeed. 3 Copper Twist Lightning Rod Weathervane Pennsylvania Barn Acorn 5 Spike Topper
Fresh from the roof of an early Pennsylvania barn. That has collapsed under the weight of this winter's snow, are the three lightning rods with weathervane. They are made of copper, brass, and iron, with porcelain insulators(one insulator is missing, one is broken) The lightning rods stand approx. 6' tall, and the weathervane arrow is 32" long(animal piece is missing) The twisted center pieces look to be copper-covered iron(some copper is peeling/damaged, see photos) topped with what I believe are solid brass acorn pieces, and the five spikes look to be copper(one has a few bent spikes from the collapse) The glass/ceramic balls are missing, but the ring-caps are still present(lots of balls available here on eBay) The three-legged iron mounting brackets are fair for their age; rusty and pitted, all mounting feet and insulator ... morebrackets are present. ANTIQUE Red Stained Glass Lightning Rod BALL Weathervane Dark RUBY BARN Find
You won't believe how my husband came across this beautiful lightning rod ball! He was on a farmstead here in Kansas. Looking in barns. Outside of one he found it on the ground. The owner said the dogs(5 of them) had been rolling it around on the ground. We can't believe but it had to have blown off the rod, rolled down the barn roof and dropped on the ground! How it survived all that I don't know! Anyway it measures approx. 4 1/2 inches from end to end. There is a large shallow dimple from when it was made. It is a beautiful dark ruby color. There is clear color at the ends. So it has been painted originally(on the inside) It has mold lines from where it was blown in a mold. I see a couple small areas that look like bubbles but I believe they are not bubbles only spots of lighter color, hardly noticeable. I am unable to get a ... moregood picture of them. Vintage Rooster Aluminum Weathervane Copper Base Brass Rod Rooftop Barn 38" Tall
You are bidding on a vintage rooster weathervane. It is approximately 60 years old or slightly older. It was attached on the top of a roof and was taken down and stored when the new owner of the property rebuilt there. It comes apart and if you look at the pictures you can see how it goes together. The base is made of copper with is painted black. The copper is placed over a wood base. The paint has flaked in several places. The base measures approximately 17 inches on each of the 4 sides. The rod that holds the weathervane looks like it is made of brass but I'm not sure. The directional N-S-E-W sits on this rod and there are large screws that tighten it onto the rod. The S mark was repaired at one time as you can see from the picture. The rooster and arrow sit on top of the directional N-S-E-W and will spin freely on the rod. I believe ... morethe rooster. Arrow and directions are all made of aluminum. This piece looks to have been painted a black with red markings. I am leaving it the way it was found and you may choose to repaint it to your liking. I do not see any type of markings on this piece as to who the manufacturer may have been. The whole weathervane assembled measures 38 inches tall. From the bottom of the directional N-S-E-W to the top of the rooster it measures 20 inches tall. The distance across from the front of the arrow to the back measures 24 inches long.
