WEATHER VANE: Antique"Golden Calf" Gilded Hollow Copper, 27" Tall x 30" Long This is a great old Weather Vane which I picked up years ago in New Hampshire. West of Nashua near Milford Circle. After a certain Bible Study Class, the kids began calling him"The Golden Calf" and so he has remained. Would that he were! He is actually gilded hollow copper with a wonderful patina. As he stands now on his wooden base. He is 27 3/4 inches tall and 30 inches long. He has spent a good deal of time outside, both with us and with previous owners. On the whole. He is in pretty good shape; all of his seams are tight. He does have a few dings, the most noticeable one, on the crown of his head. But he still turns cheerfully on his supporting rod. Now this was a cool find! Up for bid is this AWESOME ANTIQUE. COPPER WEATHERVANE of a DUCK FLYING/ LANDING. I am not an expert but I think this is Copper from what I can see. Has great Patina and Verdigris Look. I cannot find a maker on it anywhere. The Duck itself measures about 17" wingspan and about 11" high. Overall with the roof bracket attached to the top it is about 27" tall. Has two Lightning Balls. I think they are copper. I wish I knew how to tell this is for certain Copper. it sure looks like it to me. Light weight due to Hollow design. I would not think its Tin. Was told this came off of an old barn out in Kansas and was moved back here years ago to Altoona. The Duck spins very free. really cool. The North South East West spins but a little tighter. I did not adjust or anything. There is one" newer" screw ... moreon it. Very old. I am guessing 80-100 years? Such a great piece of Art. I see one similar on Ebay. Just the Duck, and they are asking crazy money for it, Similar Weathervanes with Pig design or Horses go for serious money, and I see Geese on, but Ducks seem very Rare. Vtg. Copper 3-D Hollow Pig Weathervane 33" x 19" Green Patina with Directional
Gorgeous Vintage Copper 3-D Hollow Pig Weathervane with Copper Directional& Spacing Balls! This large copper pig has a wonderful weathered look with its' green patina. I prefer this look. So haven't shined it up but you can certainly do so. This pig is 33" long from his curly tail to snout. He's 19" tall from the top of his back to the arrow tubing he's attached to. The body is hollow and has varying depths of about 3/4" to 2" Both sides of this pig have a lot of character and bends to give a 3-D dimensional look. I don't know if all of this"sculpting" was done on purpose, or whether some of it has been acquired through the years. The sturdy copper tubing Mr. Pig is attached to is 5/8" in diameter where an arrow could be inserted. There's also a 1/2" opening on the bottom ... moreto insert in the directional piece. The letters stand about 3-1/4" tall. The copper spacing balls are 4-1/4" 2-1/4" in diameter. They all have a green patina. The larger ball has a slight dent on the edge of the ball- it isn't apparent when it's in place. This pig weathervane is an amazing piece of of folk art to fly in the wind in your yard or on top of your roof. It would even make a great conversational piece in your house! The steel pole is optional. It's just over 39" long& adds about 4 lbs. to the mailing weight. If you want the pole. Up for consideration is this nice. Original, Hollow Body Copper Rooster weathervane. It's all there including the wood base. At 33" overall with 12" directionals and a rooster that stands 10" and 8" wide It is a diminutive size. It came from an historic Eastern Shore of Maryland smoke house, thus the smaller size. Seam separations on the body and tail. Directionals are in nice shape. Note the hollow two piece tail. You can use the original nail holes to mount to a stand or put it on the wall. Up for your consideration is this excellent antique molded copper and cut tin weather vane. We see this figural cow weathervane still has its original gilt surface. We see no signs of additional painting on this piece. We do see some areas where the gilt has worn away exposing the bare metal which has oxidized giving a great patina(see photos) We see the arrow tip and flech are made of cut tin or copper. We see this figural piece is soldered and has one leg which has been lifted off of the arrows body. This weathervane is in great condition with no weakness at its joints or signs of damage. A very nice antique large horse hollow copper weathervane. Measuring in at approximately 31" long and 16" tall this A. L. Jewell styled running horse weather-vane is a very impressive piece indeed. We're not sure 100% of the exact age but we do believe that it is late 1800's or early 1900's. This was just discovered at a 5th generation farm on a small gulf island in British Columbia. Canada.
