Rare Antique Large Copper Weathervane Goose Body Duck Bird - Never mounted
This is a bit unusual: What I have here is one-half of what would be a hollow copper weathervane goose. In full flight. Nicely detailed, the bird is 31" from bill to tailfeathers with a 32" wingspan. The upper wing is soldered to the body, the rest is all one piece. It has never been soldered to its opposite side and, while nicely aged, it's never been hung outside and is in remarkable condition. It has a cool patina but no oxidation. Two brass hangers have been attached to the back, so it can be hung on the wall- inside or outside. It's a very neat and one-of-a-kind piece. Everything on this weather vane is original. I have been told it is a J.W. Fiske weathervane but there are no makers marks so I cannot guarantee this. Up for consideration is this nice. Original, Hollow Body Copper Rooster weathervane. It's all there including the wood base. At 33" overall with 12" directionals and a rooster that stands 10" and 8" wide It is a diminutive size. It came from an historic Eastern Shore of Maryland smoke house, thus the smaller size. Seam separations on the body and tail. Directionals are in nice shape. Note the hollow two piece tail. You can use the original nail holes to mount to a stand or put it on the wall. VINTAGE COPPER FISH WEATHERVANE FULL BODY 24” FOLK ART ROOF MOUNT 2 COPPER BALLS
This listing is for a vintage copper fish weathervane that comes with a roof mount. Directional indicators and 2 copper balls. The vane was knocked down by a storm which bent the tail of the fish and slightly dented the large copper ball. The roof mount is still sturdy but there is surface rust and silicone where the previous owner attempted to fix a leak the cheap way. Then Mother Nature came along and knocked it completely off the roof. Prior to being knocked off roof the fish developed a hole in front of the left eye which is the perfect match of a large caliber bullet. The hole was repaired and is still in good condition and the roof mount does not have any pitting so you could reuse it.
