Antique Folk Art Horse Sheet Metal Weathervane Americana Architectural
Up for sale is an antique horse form weathervane recently found in the Northern indiana area. It is found in good used condition and comes attached to part of its original post. It is sheet metal and offered in as found condition with its original finish. This piece has pegged construction as it joins the post. The only condition issue to discuss is rust to both sides. The directional post the horse rests on is missing both ends and the tail shows minor losses. It measures approximately 12" x 8 1/2" in size. Purchased at an Estate Sale. I do not know much about this piece. I was told it is very old. But as I am not am antiques dealer I really don't know. Please review pictures to judge condition for yourself. I was told it is a tin zinc metal. Hollow piece.Two sided horse weathervane. Has horse hair tail. That looks to me to have been added at a later time, possibly because the original tail broke. There are some dents as shown. I noticed a crack on the front foot. Some seperation at seams as hown. Large Vintage 1920s FOLK ART Metal GIRL IN GARDEN WATERING Weathervane
Description ANTIQUE/VINTAGE GARDEN GIRL WEATHERVANE Charming vintage metal silhouette style weather vane measuring 19-1/4" long and almost 9" tall. Featuring a woman in bonnet and period clothing holding a huge watering can with long spout- stylized water pours though the head and quenches several blooming flowers. Metal appears to be either brass or copper- it has a dark patina from age. And it's hard to tell- vane is sturdy and non-pliable- cut outs are mounted into a rather crudely rolled tube base that is held together by three screws- there is a hole in the tube middle bottom for mounting on a vertical stand(no longer present) small holes are pierced in the flower heads and on top of the bonnet. I believe this is a home project, made circa 1920- condition is very good with no bends, breaks or damage other than normal patina ... moreto the metal and although it appears as if a side is missing from one flower, it was made that way- edges are all smooth from age. Just a charming large silhouette image of a woman in her garden- purchased in Ohio, I've had it hanging on the wall for years, but it could easily be mounted for display as a weather vane. Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. A great piece for the barn or house roof or used inside mounted as a classic primitive. Make sure you use the zoom feature to see the great detail. Great auction find out of Conway South Carolina. Weathervane has a great deal of aging and patina. The metal showing threw is a white metal. No damage seen as far as broken off pieces or gouging. Judging by the style of the font. The hardware and the type of metal I am putting this items age at 1920's or 30's. Over all height is 42" height of rooster is 14" length of rooster is 14"Looks like rooster was painted white with some red through the tail feathers. Most of paint on face still present. This auction is for a vintage cast aluminum. Roof mount weathervane made by the Whitehall Metal Studios. It has some waer on one side and the other side looks almost new. I don't think it was ever used outside, but it was stored where one side suffered some minor corrosion and paint loss. I have up for sale a very nice vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s American Folk Art Sheet Metal Cut Out Silhouette HORSE WEATHERVANE. It is Fresh off the Farm. Picked out of an old granary. It measures approx 31" long, approx 26" tall and is made of two cut out and riveted together pieces of sheet metal. The vane is fully guaranteed as being authentic. Dating from somewhere approx. 1900 give or take. It was purchased off of an old family farm here in Wisconsin, I've been trying to by it for over 20 years. Really Nicely Done. Unknown maker probably done by a local tinsmith back in the day. I think that its a fantastic looking item. Perfect for a wall décor or to have a stand made with a rod for proper display. Antique Weathervane Rooster 1940's Texas Cast Metal Art Country House or Barn Search I have an authentic metal rooster weathervane for sell. It is complete and it is ready for mounting. The weathervane was mounted on the roof of a neighbor's house in the early 1940's. I suspect it is much older than this. But I can only declare for certain that it is this old, because I remember it as a child. My parent's purchased the house at a later time and when they passed away the weathervane came into my possession. It measures approx. 35 1/2" tall and it is 27" wide measuring across the arrow. There is a round piece of metal beneath this. That they must have inserted into a small hole and then the weathervane had screws, that fastened the weathervane to the roof of the house. There is paint wear from being outside so many ... moreyears. There is some rust on the bottom round disk. But it has not harmed the metal and the wethervane just needs to be cleaned and painted or you can enjoy displaying it in his natural, weathered state. You don't need a weathervane to take advantage of this primitive beauty- it would be just as happy. And look just as good hanging on your wall! What I have is a vintage weathervane arrow- it's made of a white metal that a magnet does not stick to, except the pole that comes down from the center- I do believe that it may be brass, as it certainly has the patina- see my photos and if you think so too. The arrow, on either end, has a hammered metal design, and the piece has ... morea very shabby, chippy black finish that is more worn that still on. It measures 31" long at the arrow, and 7 1/2" at the center- top to bottom of pole. The pole alone is 5" long and about 1/4" diameter. It weighs 1 lb, so it's light for its size. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition, in addition to the finish wear, it is dirty from living outdoors, and cobwebby from being in the barn for so long- it could use a good cleaning, I have not cleaned it in any way. Here's a wonderful older vintage cast metal weathervane in the image of a pancing horse! It's made from a metal that a magnet does not stick to- spelter. I'm guessing, as it appears to be silver in color. The pieces has a hammered metal look on the arrow. You can see lots of peeks of the metal as the old black finish is shabby, chippy and worn- especially on the horse, where you can see more metal than paint. This is the top to a weathervane- it would have attached ... moreonto a pole at one point in time, with a directional underneath- I do not have those, so what you see is what you get. That being said, as it is, it could made for some very cool wall art if mounted on a wall- the possibilities are limited to your imagination. Measuring 33" long, it is 15 3/4" tall from the bottom of the(pole insert) to the top of the horse's ears. The hole at the base where it would mount is 7/8" measuring on the inside walls, with an interior(pole) hole of about 3/8. It weighs 3 3/4 lbs. and is in excellent solid and sturdy condition. No roosters or horses here, this is a unique cut heavy sheet metal dog standing on a primitive arrow. It has been painted a light gray color. I would probably remove the paint but will leave that you to the buyer. There is a small bracket on the bottom edge of the arrow that supports the 2.5" post that fits in the pole. Offered is a vintage metal weathervane from Long Island. New York. This weather vane features a lovely sailboat for the nautical-minded. Unfortunately, this vane was damaged in Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy, resulting in the metal rod being bent and Sandy taking the W for West with her, but leaving the sail boat intact. Antique Copper Metal Weathervane East West Vintage Parts
I'm hoping someone who restores weathervanes can use these antique left over parts I have. East/ West markers have copper stems and sheet metal letters? Magnet attaches firmly to the letters. Letters are 2 1/2" tall and 1 5/8" wide. Overall. They are 6 3/8" long. These also make excellent decorative wall displays.
