Two Lightning Rods Dated Dec 12,1893 Made by Cole Bros. Bout 6' tall brass poin
You're bidding on two Ca. dated 1893 Lightning rods that have the tri-stands to mount and both are bout 6' tall.Don't know what the twisted metal is and perhaps aluminum or magnesium(perhaps you collectors do)The spear points are round 12-14" tall and are brass as well as all of the connections.The globes are a very pale yellow and a pale purple.The pail yellow has about 1/3 of the lip gone but don't see when the caps are on the top and bottom. No other issues with them that I can tell.The old tin sleeves that go thru the globes is junk from years of rain. Etc.I took these off an abandoned farmhouse in western okla bout 50 years ago.All of the metal is perfect and just needs cleaned or polished.The tri legs are probably iron and all are in tact to mount.Please email with questions please.Good Luck.

Antique Purple Lightning Rod Ball with one original "COLE BROS" cap.
This is an antique purple lightning rod ball that measures 5" from top to bottom of collars. This comes with the one original COLE BROS screw on cap with patent date of Dec. 12-1893 for the threaded collar. There are a few bubbles in glass that is natural for this age. Also. As you can see in the photos there are minor chips on the rims of caps. Collar screw areas are in very good shape. The ball measures 5 1/2" tall from the bottom metal ring to the top. It is 5" in diameter. The one metal ring is marked Cole Bros. Pat. Dec. 12, 1893 and the other is ... moreunmarked. The Cole Brothers ring has oxidation to it. These were discovered in a box in a barn just outside of Louisville, Ky and were never mounted on a weather vane or lightning rod. Here is a Vintage Cole Bros Blue Glass Lightning Rod Ball! There is one end cap that reads Cole Bros PAT DEC 12- 1893 It is about 4 and 3/4 inches in diameter with a 1' hole through the Center. There are a few Very Small Chips at the end without the Cap which wouldn't show at all with another Cap(not included) on it. Otherwise there are No Other Chips. Cracks, or Scratches At All!This Piece Really Shines!

Nice amethyst lighting rod ball. 5" from end to end. 4 1/2" wide. Cap on top reads Pat. Cole Bros Dec. 12 1893. Still has metal shaft going through ball. Only one end has cap. Can be easily cleaned if you wish but I wanted to leave it in original cond. Cap and metal shaft have some damage from weather. Has no cracks.

Moon& Comet Cast Iron Lightning Rod Ball Weathervane Arrow Frame.Meas. approx. 23"L.This is actually the scarcer version of the MOON& COMET arrow and originally held a six-sided tin tail.Cole Bros. were the only Lightning Company to offer a SIX-SIDED Arrow Frame.Cole Bros.changed from glass tail. Overall this cap is solid and strong, use on an antique ball or for display. A clue or hint. For new collectors of lightning rod balls to remember is that authentic antique glass lightning rod balls have two openings, one on each end for the rod to run through. The openings are the same size on each end and the collars on each end are generally the same size too. There are no authentic patterns that have an overall design of"hobnail" or"spikes" or have any"etched" or"painted" surface.
