Antique House Roof Lightning Rod Ball Glass National Electra White Milk Vintage
Antique Lightening Balls This auction is for a really nice pair of antique lightening rod balls made from a thin. Delicate milk glass. One of them is near pure white and it’s embossed National on the front. It has some damage to the top edge which is common on these pieces. The other has a purple tint that might just be from 100 years of sun exposure and it’s marked ELECTRA on the front. Has some minor chipping as well at the top but lots of times they were manufacture with those chips. Great set and guaranteed old. Measure about 4½" wide. Amethyst 1891 Fleur de Lis Roof Glass ~ Lightning Rod Ball ~ Weathervane
Roof Glass was used to highlight the peaks or crowns of Old Victorian houses. It was made to sit in a channel along the peak to go along with and enhance the weathervanes also used. Roof glass was sometimes used with the Burgoon Lightning rod ball system. It is embossed with: Pat. Dec. 1. 91. 1 Sometimes the Victorian ladies would try and out do each other with weathervanes and decoration on their homes. This piece measures approx: 6 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide. Dec.1.91. 1(which from my research would be the Victorian era near the turn of the century c1891) These estate sale finds are extremely hard to come by and from what I have gathered rather rare and collectible. I have for sale an Antique or Vintage Lightning Rod Arrow Weathervane with what I believe is Amber Glass. This Arrow measures 21 1/2 inches long. The arrow itself I would say is in good condition for its age. I do not see anything broke but I do see right between the tip of the glass and where the lightning rod goes in where one of the little things comes out just the tip is missing-it would be close to the narrow tip of the glass. It has rust and pitting from age. As you can see in the photos the amber glass is original but there is a piece broke out of it. There also is a hairline crack in the glass-see photo. 1891 Arrow Shaped AMBER Lightning Rod Ball Roof Glass
Great item in good condition with only a bit of age mars. Its in great condition. This one is embossed Dec. 1. 91 As noted in photo 2. It is about 6.5 by 6 inches in size. These were often used with the Bergoon ball system and they were inserted into channels and were sealed into a channel along the crest of the roof. A a bit of the original sealant is still on the glass but can easily be cleaned. Nice item. I do combine orders to save on shipping. Amber 1891 Arrow Shaped Lightning Rod System Roof Glass
This is the 1891 roof glass that was commonly used with the Bergoon ball lightning rod system. It is about 6.5 inches tall and has not been cleaned as it still has the original stick-em that was used to hold the glass in the metal channel on the roofs. Cobalt Blue 1891 Arrow Roof Glass Lightning Rod Ball
Hard to find 6 by 6.5 inch 1891 arrow roof glass. These were often used with the Bergoon ball system. They were inserted into a channel on the roof and were very attractive. Generally used on old Victorian homes. I was fortunately to see one in use in Vincenes. Indiana in the late 1970s. Couple of light chips on the glass that was in the channel but overall very nice. 2 lbs priority mail and I do combine orders to save on shipping when possible.
