Vintage Old and Original Horse Weathervane and Lightning Rod Ball, Neat and Nice
Neat Old and Original Circus Horse Weathervane and Blue Milk Glass Quilt Lightning Rod Ball. Weathervane is called a Circus Horse vane because it has a belly band around the horse's middle. Weathervane is hollow bodied and made in the 1915-20's. The horse is tim metal and the front arrow is old cast iron. Weathervane measures 33 inches long. Horse measures 14 inches long.10 inches tall and about 1 1/8 inches thick. This weathervane style was very popular way back then for the roofs of Barns and old Victorian Homes. Horse was large enough to be easily seen from some distance. This one fit over a 5/8 common lightning rod-the most common rod. The blue milk glass"quilt" ball measures 5 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. It will fit over the common rod or the more fancy twisted star rod. Both items look great together. There is some chipping on the bases and it has some staining on the inside of one base. But. Considering it's age and use it is in really good condition. Antique or Vintage. Kind of hard to date these, Lightning Rod/Weathervane. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. Also as shown in the pictures the pointed top does come off, and will be off for shipping. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so unless you have questions I'll just give dimensions. One of them is near pure white and it’s embossed National on the front. It has some damage to the top edge which is common on these pieces. The other has a purple tint that might just be from 100 years of sun exposure and it’s marked ELECTRA on the front. I have for sale one very nice old very well designed patriotic and hard to find Rare Lightning rod piece of memorabilia. It is an original vintage company advertising salesman book brochure.that reads Government Security Lightning protection for war production and storage special equipment for the protection of arsenals magazines. Loading plants, ammunition dumps, aviation buildings, etc. Designed to meet U.S. Government requirements. It is in classic red white and blue with a great big V for victory in the center. It reads litho in the USA and I believe it to be from the WW II era. Has all sorts of different items laid out in the brochure ... morethat relate to lighting Rods and the rods themselves. It was put out by the Security Manufacturing and Contracting company in Burlington WI. It is in good shape has some staining and light wear mostly on the edges and three pin head size holes put there I believe to store it with other brochures. Hi. Auction is for a 4 1/2 inch amythest colored lightning rod ball. I have three of these and this is the nicest-best color and condition. They are from a hundred plus year old farm. Condition is very good. Ends have very slight chipping as the pictures show. There are 3 or 4 noticible bubbles in the glass-adds character I guess. Otherwise, no other flaws. Hello. This auction contains one beautiful piece! This is a 100% authentic vintage W.C. Shinn MFG CO white milk glass lightning rod ball! Please see pictures, this is a super nice vintage piece! As you can see in the pictures it has W.C name across the middle of the ball. The lettering sticks out at you, very nice clean lettering! Pictures of every view! The top is perfect no breaks in the end. The grove for the cap is perfect! The bottom spout end is also very nice! no breaks, cracks and has perfect groves for the cap! The only spot on this piece is the very bottom spout piece there is a micro area of cleanable rust. Should be able to see in pictures! Not a big deal at all on this item! The end caps would cove that area anyhow. The whole ball is solid with no cracks or any problems! Coloring of the the white milk glass is very nice and just ... moreis as how it shouls be! Very Rare, Early Vintage 3.5" Ruby Glass Lightning Rod Ball, Embossed On Rim
This is a very rare 3.5" Ruby Glass Ball with fluted ribs. It looks to have the correct embossing on rim; it is faint. But you can make out"PAT JULY.77" This came out of my Grandparents Estate. He was an electrician and rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. This was packed up in his barn with other items. Also, I sold the another of this type ball awhile back to a collector and he confirmed it authenticity. So, with all that, I'm confident that this is an original and not a reproduction. This rare vintage clear red lightning rod ball is in very good condition. No chips or cracks. It came off of an old Ohio livestock barn that was built in 1910. The globe is 5 1/2 inches tall stem to stem. It has a 1 1/4 inch rod hole.The circumference is 14 inches. Vintage Weathervane Antique lightning rod Ball 21" Country Decor Farm Copper
For your consideration I have two copper lightening rods. They measure 21" tall. They do feature quite a bit of patina from years of being out in the elements but could be cleaned up nicely. The mounting brackets look as though they have been painted silver at some point. They both feature two rings with screws to hold the lightening ball in place. One goes on top and the other on the bottom of the ball. I am including a ball with each rod. One is a very pretty Easter purple color and the other is white. The balls are not cracked throughout but do exhibit some chips around the top and bottom rims as most all balls do. The rest of the ball is great condition. I do not have caps that go around the top and bottom rims of the balls. You do not need them but if you would like they can be purchased fairly inexpensive on Ebay. Vintage Copper Lightning Rod Weather Vane with Glass Ball & Directional Arrow
For auction is a complete vintage copper lightning rod/weather vane similar to the one seen on a recent version of American Pickers. This one was one of two that graced an old barn in eastern Pennsylvania. It would make a great architectural display piece for your home. Right now. It is mounted on a board for display purposes but it will not be shipped with the board. You can supply your own and save shipping costs. The three legs and framework for the rod are iron and are rusted from years of being exposed to the elements. Just the rod is copper. The three legs were meant to be spread out and attached to the peak of the roof. The bottom of the rod has a copper loop through which ran copped cable to make any lightening strike go to ground. The glass ball was intended to explode if hit by lightening to indicate a strike. The pictures are representative ... moreof its brown light coffee color. There are no cracks in the glass but there are flakes on the upper and lower edges of the circular hole as can be seen in the 6th and 7th pictures. It appears that the more serious flakes resulted from the ball turning on the directional arrow. I suppuse there is some type of washer or gasket to prevent this type of damage. The arrow is 20 3/4" long. It is made from cas aluminum or white metal as it is not very heavy. The rod stands 65 3/4" tall and the entire peice shows good green copper patina.The ball will be shipped separate from the rod and arrow to prevent damage.

Vintage Antique 68" Copper Lightning Rod with Blue W.C. Shinn Milk Glass Ball
This is a beautiful old copper lightning rod with metal stand and blue milk glass W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. ball. The copper has a fantastic green patina and the stand has some surface rust. But it is still sturdy and functional. There are holes in the ends of the stand legs for attaching the stand to the roof or other structure. The glass ball is a bold robin's egg blue with the words W.C. Shinn Mfg. Co. wrapped around the middle. There are some tiny chips missing from the top rim and two larger chips missing from the bottom as shown in the 4th, 7th, and last photo. The ball still sits nicely on the metal disk, and there are no cracks in the glass anywhere. The white disk you can see under the ball on the photos is a thin foam disk that is there to protect the bottom rim of the ball, but it is not necessary and can be slipped right off. Vintage Old Glass Lightning Rod & Purple Glass Ball Farm Hardware
Here we have for sale an antique old original lightning rod and glass ball. Stand and rod is about 5ft. tall. Stand in a twisted wire stand. With all feet intact. Rod is a 5/8" copper tube with slip on tip. Bottom clamp is embossed D&S. Rod and tube have old red roof paint. Ball is a"D& S Patent Pending" pattern ball in a medium sun colored purple glass color. Ball has good collars and comes with new copper caps. No bb damage or cracks. This is a very nice all original D&S set-up. If my shipping seems high. Up for sale is this deep lavender glass lightning rod ball. The sun causes what was white milk glass to turn this beautiful color. This one is unique because the lavender swirls through it. Very pretty. Has normal chipping on the top and base and a small what appears to be an air bubble. Measures 14 1/2" in circumference. This came from an estate sale in south central Iowa and is in great shape for the years it spent on a barn roof. A great many of these were shot to pieces. AUCTION IS FOR GLASS BALL ONLY. Very Rare, Early Vintage, NOS, 3.5" Wine Glass Lightning Rod Ball, Embossed Rim
This is a very rare 3.5" Wine Glass Ball with fluted ribs. It is NOS and is in its original cardboard box/cover. It looks to have the correct embossing on rim. You can clearly make out"PAT JULY 3rd 77" This came out of my Grandparents Estate. He was an electrician and rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. This was packed up in his barn with other items. Also. I sold the another of this type ball awhile back to a collector and he confirmed it authenticity. So, with all that, I'm confident that this is an original and not a reproduction.
