Antique or Vintage. Kind of hard to date these, Lightning Rod/Weathervane. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. This listing is for an Antique. Ribbed Grape Lightning Rod Ball or Globe in Blue Milk Glass. The blue color is an amazing light blue with deep coloring. The Ribbed Grape pattern features three rows of circles with ribbed panels above and below. The ball has 18 circles in the center row. The pattern was produced by different manufacturers, I believe this one is a National Lightening Protection Co ball as the Fenton balls measure smaller. The piece measures 5 1/2" high. 4 1/2" in diameter and weighs 9.8 oz. The piece has chips and fleabites around the fitter ends which is extremely common. The main ball portion is in excellent condition with no cracks or dings. This is a great antique ball in a rare color and will make a fantastic addition to any lightening rod ball collection. Check out my! This is a early antique milk glass lightning rod ball signed by the W C Shinn MFG Co. It is about 14" around the part that has the MFG name. It is 5 1/4" tall. The ends are rough cut and have some chips. There are some dark stains on the top of the ball. Look at the pictures.
