I purchased ... moreit at an old suburban farm yard sale many years back. The steel cross arrow and James logo are flanked buy a full bodied zinc cow at the other end. The is 32-1/4 inches. It has a 5-1/2 inch, zinc, cone base-cover and a hollow zinc finial. The dark amber glass ball is 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall. The black and gold painted surface must be at least 50-60 plus years old. The condition is very good. There is only see a slight dent in one side of the cow. The glass ball is in great shape as are the cone and finial. It doesn't appear to have any old repairs. It's held together with cotter pins to keep it lined-up. Please look at all the pictures and if you have any questions please ask. All my items are guaranteed to be as described and pictured. If your ever unsatisfied returns are not a problem. Vintage Old and Original Horse Weathervane and Lightning Rod Ball, Neat and Nice
Neat Old and Original Circus Horse Weathervane and Blue Milk Glass Quilt Lightning Rod Ball. Weathervane is called a Circus Horse vane because it has a belly band around the horse's middle. Weathervane is hollow bodied and made in the 1915-20's. The horse is tim metal and the front arrow is old cast iron. Weathervane measures 33 inches long. Horse measures 14 inches long.10 inches tall and about 1 1/8 inches thick. This weathervane style was very popular way back then for the roofs of Barns and old Victorian Homes. Horse was large enough to be easily seen from some distance. This one fit over a 5/8 common lightning rod-the most common rod. The blue milk glass"quilt" ball measures 5 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches tall. It will fit over the common rod or the more fancy twisted star rod. Both items look great together. Antique Vintage Lightning Rod Weathervane Arrow White Milk Glass Ribbed Ball
Antique or Vintage. Kind of hard to date these, Lightning Rod/Weathervane. As you can see it has had it's years of use, the arrow does not rotate freely and will need a little work if you are intending to use this item, if not its a great piece of American art form from the past. Also as shown in the pictures the pointed top does come off, and will be off for shipping. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so unless you have questions I'll just give dimensions. Great antique lightning rod weathervane with a silver mercury ball. This piece is in overall good antique condition. With a nice patina to it. Some signs of wear from usage and age, so please look closely at the pictures. The total height of the whole piece is 59" The finial measures 9 5/8" in total length, the exposed portion is 8 1/4" With the finial off, the rod itself is about 51" The twisted steel stand measures 39 3/4" high. The silver mercury ball measures 5 1/4" through the center hole, the inside of the opening is 1" and the outside of the brass cap is 1 3/8" The ball is approximately 5" wide. This piece has been lovingly preserved and installed on a decorative wood base for display. The center is a copper lightning rod with removable pointed top. The cow is a 3-dimensional construction made of thin metal. The other metal feels like cast iron? There are TWO glass balls. A white milk glass ball with dimples and a blue ball with stars! The top of the white ball has a few chips that you can see in the photos. The bottom of the blue ball has a few chips that are covered up by the metal fitting. The platform base looks like oak and is raised about 1" for a great presentation. The base measures about 17-1/4" square. The entire piece is about 53" ... moretall. Beautiful iron lightning rod/weathervane with cobalt blue glass ball and hollow pig without bullet holes. I have never seen one of these rods with a pig in better condition. Rod stands 36" tall with a 22 1/2" arrow. Pig measures 8 1/2" long X 4 5/8" high. Has a small hole in the top which shows in the picture. Ball is 4 1/2" across with a crack on one side. I have tried to show this crack in the picture. Will not deter from displaying this beautiful piece as it's only on one side. This is truly a beautiful lightning rod/weathervane. This came out of my Grandparents' Estate and my step-grandfather, who passed about 10 years ago, was a lightening rod installer from roughly 1940-1980. Vintage Weathervane Antique lightning rod Ball 21" Country Decor Farm Copper
For your consideration I have two copper lightening rods. They measure 21" tall. They do feature quite a bit of patina from years of being out in the elements but could be cleaned up nicely. The mounting brackets look as though they have been painted silver at some point. They both feature two rings with screws to hold the lightening ball in place. One goes on top and the other on the bottom of the ball. I am including a ball with each rod. One is a very pretty Easter purple color and the other is white. The balls are not cracked throughout but do exhibit some chips around the top and bottom rims as most all balls do. The rest of the ball is great condition. I do not have caps that go around the top and bottom rims of the balls. You do not need them but if you would like they can be purchased fairly inexpensive on Ebay. They are larger rods that measure approximately 67" long and 63" long and both have the twisted spiral wrought iron holders and mounting legs. They appear to be very sturdy and in very good usable condition. They feature that great green antique patina that can only be associated with age. There is moderate of signs of wear.Weathering and use typical for these and also some minor rust, pitting on the spiral holders as found but for spending their lives in the elements they look good. Here we have for sale an antique old original 18" iron frame glasstail weathervane. Vane will fit a large twisted star rod. Glass is old and has an acid etched Fleur-De-Lis pattern. There is a small flake behind the front cast tab. All old original. Rod is not included.

Amethyst 1891 Fleur de Lis Roof Glass ~ Lightning Rod Ball ~ Weathervane
Roof Glass was used to highlight the peaks or crowns of Old Victorian houses. It was made to sit in a channel along the peak to go along with and enhance the weathervanes also used. Roof glass was sometimes used with the Burgoon Lightning rod ball system. It is embossed with: Pat. Dec. 1. 91. 1 Sometimes the Victorian ladies would try and out do each other with weathervanes and decoration on their homes. This piece measures approx: 6 1/2 inches tall by 6 inches wide. Antique Copper Lightning Rod w/weathervane arrow & glass ball-Vintage - 53" tall
Antique/ Vintage Electra 53" Lightning Rod- The rod is copper and has a nice green patina. There is a 4-legged braided/twisted metal base to mount on to roof. Globe is amber/gold colored and has a 1-1/2" crack in the bottom. Weathervane arrow is another metal- maybe aluminum? There is a nice star burst on top of the arrow finial at the top. We removed this from our old farm house. Old SNOWFLAKE Lightning Rod Ball Weathervane
