I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Vintage Antique Weathervane Horse & Rider, Sulky, Great Patina, Copper Brass
This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. I also have a magazine clipping where it shows this weather vane brought $10,450 at a Munda and Associates sale in Freeport Illinois December 15 of 2002. See photograph. Vintage Copper Whale Weathervane Available is a nice vintage copper whale weathervane. It was gifted to our family years ago by a friend who owned a home at the Jersey shore. We had every intention of using it. But never did as we own horses so, of course, our weathervane is of a horse. It has been stored in our garage since gifted and now needs to find a suitable home. I am not weathervane savvy. So I have taken plenty of pictures with the hope that any potential buyer will have a good idea of the condition and size. Below are the approximate dimensions: Full height(including rod assembly) 34-1/2 inches Length of actual whale: 24 inches long Height of actual whale: 7 inches(from belly to top of back) Height& width of wind directionals(letters N/S/E/W. 3X3 inches Ball diameter(around middle seam) 13 inches All seams/weldings are tight. ... moreIt really is a striking piece of architecture. I have chosen not to clean it up and will leave that up to the buyer. Please note that there here is an indentation on the one side of the whale(see picture 4) which is not noticeable and I would think it can be sucked out with a little plunger or just leave as it. Antique Vintage Old Large Copper & Brass Weathervane Running Horse Weathervane
This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. The Horse is almost 28" wide nose to tail and appx. 13 1/2" tall. There are two decorative balls. This weathervane was removed from our victorian home in Hastings. NE. the home was built in the late 1880's. It is made of Copper and has a lovely patina as you can see. The base has three holes for easy installation. It spins very easily. The vane is COMPLETE! The horse measures 13" The arrow 19" overall height is 20" I try to describe my auction as fairly as I can. Not an expert just getting rid of many things we have had for years. The very tip of the arrow is missing and that is the only flaw that I know of in this weathervane. Farm fresh as they say! Just picked this up in Eastern Pennsylvania. Beautiful copper deer weathervane that comes with a pair of copper orbs. N.S.W.E copper directionals and a great iron mount that has a little rust on it like you'd expect. Deer on it's own measures 32" tall X 23 1/2" wide(Schaefer can in first pic for reference) All the pieces have a great patina on them as the pics show. Pictures 7 and 8 show both sides of the deer. MASSIVE 32" Horse Weathervane/ Lightning rod Antique Vintage Copper Brass Horse measures approx. 31" x 17" and the whole piece measures approx. 33" long x 20" tall. It is being sold as found. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. A nice vintage"medium" size barn cupola from a barn roof in rural Syracuse. Nebraska. Measures 46 1/2" square and about 12 foot tall. Is attached and stands on four 4x4 wood lumbers. Some rusted out spots near crown, underneith, could be primed and stopped. About 10 bullet holes in total. The weathervane is present and removeable. Cast iron& copper weathervane. The animal from the fin of the weathervane is missing. But another may be attached. I supplied the two vintage blue glass balls. Vintage Weathervane Antique lightning rod Ball 21" Country Decor Farm Copper
For your consideration I have two copper lightening rods. They measure 21" tall. They do feature quite a bit of patina from years of being out in the elements but could be cleaned up nicely. The mounting brackets look as though they have been painted silver at some point. They both feature two rings with screws to hold the lightening ball in place. One goes on top and the other on the bottom of the ball. I am including a ball with each rod. One is a very pretty Easter purple color and the other is white. The balls are not cracked throughout but do exhibit some chips around the top and bottom rims as most all balls do. The rest of the ball is great condition. I do not have caps that go around the top and bottom rims of the balls. You do not need them but if you would like they can be purchased fairly inexpensive on Ebay. The top features a sperm whale measuring 25" by 7" The N/S/E/W spokes measure 18" across. And the pole stands 18 1/2" high. Altogether, the whale measures approx. 26" tall. I have tested the weathervane with WD-40, but it does not turn. The copper has a light green patina and verdigris which adds to the antique character and overall appeal of this piece. The weathervane is in good condition for its age. But the tail section is a little rusty on top from being out in the elements. It has natural green patina on the copper. This is a set of two weathervane balls. They are made of solid copper. They were acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. The duck weathervane( I also have listed now) was mounted on top of the clubhouse and it blew off the roof top in a huge storm in 2010. It never was remounted and has sat in a storage shed ever since. It took a major hit and there is damage to the balls as shown in the photos. I am not sure of the exact age of this vane but was told by the owner of the club that it was there when he purchased the property in 1960. I will leave the exact age to be determined by the pros. This is a HUGE full bodied Vintage Flying duck weathervane. It is made of solid copper. It was acquired from a duck hunting club in southern Missouri. Vintage Copper Squirrel Weathervane
Nice vintage copper squirrel weathervane. There are a couple of small splits at the sodder seams near the bottom of the weathervane. The vane itself is approx. 23" h x 21" w. The bottom bar is 23" long and the stem is 3" Dent on tail and slight indentation to sides. It is a hollow body. There is some remnants of lacquer and the vane has started to oxidize. Vintage Large 39" Weathered Copper WHALE Weathervane with Directionals & Ball
This is a very interesting item from an estate sale- a large WHALE weather vane. It is 39" long. Based upon the green weathering. I am fairly certain it is copper. It looks like it has been repaired a number of times in the past- the tail is crimped and a good portion of the bottom seam has been soldered- looks like it fell off a roof a few times in its history! This is a large new solid copper weathervane. It is very large. Just the star part alone is 34in long(the arrow) and 27 inches tall. Add the pole. It has only been displayed indoors a short time. The star, directionals, and balls are all solid heavy copper with a painted on patina. Copper Vintage Weathervane CRICKET, N,S,E,W w/ STAND
This lot is for a copper cricket weathervane. It was purchased over 25 years ago and never installed on top of a house. Instead it sat on a porch in the summer among the flowers. This weathervane has a nice patina. The base even more so. The cricket measures 24" L x 12 1/2" H x 3" at the widest. The cricket has green eyes. Not sure if they are glass or a resin. As you see in the first photo. It is 43 1/2" tall. There is a copper stem(pole) that inserts inside the cricket. There is the issue. It does not fit properly. Not sure if a fitting came off. Or if the seam under the cricket is too wide for the pole. CRICKET sits on his own, if you prefer to use him alone and not on the weathervane. For your consideration is a vintage used hollowed copper Canadian Goose Weather Vane(top only) It is aprox 29" long. 20 1/8" tall. It has a nice patina from being used. There are large dents in it that could possiby be fixed, more so on one side, the back area by the feet/ wing area causing bottom seam to separate aprox 2" long, also has a dent on the neck same side as seen in pics. SLOOP 3D WEATHER VANE top ornament(only, no other parts) THE WEATHER VANE MEASURES 35" IN HEIGHT BY 31" WIDE with very nice detail. This beauti gas a nice reddish dark patina due to decades in the elements. IT STARTED OUT AS A POLISHED VANE AND THAT IS WHY THE PATINA IS REDDISH AND NOT YET GREEN. This quality made weathervane has decent patina and is in good condition. The best of the 70,s era reproductions. There is one solder joint at end of upper arrow quill that needs attaching. No dents or scatches are evident, about 22 tall by25 long and a little dirty.

Looking around ebay I'd say it's likely not an antique but it is very well built and hand-crafted from formed copper soldered together with brass tubing for the structural support elements. It has been stored indoors so it's starting to get a nice patina but has not yet developed full verdigris. All soldered joints are solid. You'll notice that one of the wheels is bent in slightly and the front leg of the horse is slightly tweaked. Both could be easily bent back to shape if you so desire. This is a large weathervane measuring approximately 33" in length. 16.5" in height, and 10.5" in width. This will be very securely packed ... morefor safe transit and will include full insurance. Rare vintage architectural weathervane of American Eagle cast in heavy gauge copper measures 31" in width and 44" in height. With a wingspan of 32" The weathervane would be outstanding as the focal point for a roof top. It has the bluish green patina of copper developed over the years.
