Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age ... moreyou collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. If any one can tell me any information about it please do. From the point of his beck to the tail its around 16 1/2 inches long. then from top of tail to bottom of tail its almost 10 inches long. then from his belly to top of his head around 12 inches tall then from one side of his body to other side its around 3 1/4 inches fat. Then when sitting on the block from the bottom block of wood to the top of the head its around 26 1/2 inches tall. The wood base it self is 2 1/2 inches thick and left to right around 6 1/2 and front to back around 6 inches long. Still in very good solid condtion i do not see anything broken at all. Again if any one can please tell me who made this and its exact age and what its made of i thank you very much for your help. This was found from the same estate sale as my old antique Gothic chandeliers plus a very old hunting duck hat with old pins on it that i have listed on ebay please have a look at them if you like. Hi and thanks for visiting this auction! This is an original hand made Copper Eagle Weathervane probably dating to the late 1800's or early 1900's. It is in beautiful condition as it has been on display inside for the last 40 years or so. Look close at the pictures and please ask questions before you bid! The beak shows some damage as shown in the picture. But it doesn't take away from the overall beauty of the piece. The wingspan measures about 21" it stands about 51" from the top of a wing to the base of the mounting bracket. You are bidding on the whole unit, this includes the Eagle and the copper ball he is attached to, the small ball below that, the arrow, the directional unit, another ball, the rod and mounting base. Arrow measures 25 3/4" long and 19 1/2" long from the notch in the mounting flange to the top finial. Great age. Patina and weathering. Antique copper weathervane,, Eagle 3 balls Arrow & directionals Repair Project
Antique copper Eagle Weathervane project. Needs welded back together. The bird is intact except missing one foot. The back half of the arrow needs welded back on and the Eagle needs welded back on its perch. All 3 balls are there and the directionals are in good shape. Just needs a new mounting rod and some welding and you will have a great old weathervane. You can find this same weathervane right here on eBay to see what it looks like assembled and they regularly bring around 200.00. Antique Vintage Large Weathervane Arrow & 18" Long Directionals (Brass & Copper)
Antique/Vintage Weathervane Arrow and Directionals Arrow was broken in half near the center. I had a professional solder the two pieces back together using real silver solder. He did a great job! Arrow measures approximately 21-1/2 inches long. It has a set screw. Post hole measures approximately 1/2" in diameter. I believe that the arrow head is brass. Pole is brass, and the"feather" of the arrow is Copper. Directionals are a matching set. They each have set screws. Both measure approximately 18 inches long. I believe they are brass. I am not 100% positive. Please judge for yourself. Post holes measure approximately 7/8" in diameter*This set had a huge old molded copper eagle on it. I sold the eagle a few months ago.
