This is an old original blue pleated lightning rod ball. It is in very good condition. There are no cracks or breaks. There is chipping to the collar ends which is very common with these old balls. The collar ends are shown in the pics. It has a nice shiny finish to the glass and is a nice bright blue. It measures 4 1/2" across at the widest point. It will be well packed and fully insured. When one takes a close examination one can see old mold markings and swirls in the glass. The ball is in good condition with just chipping on the top and bottom where the metal caps go over. The Ribbed Grape pattern features three rows of circles with ribbed panels above and below. The ball has 18 circles in the center row. The pattern was produced by different manufacturers, I believe this one is a National Lightening Protection Co ball as the Fenton balls measure smaller. I have for auction a beautiful Green glass lightning rod ball/ globe. It measures approx 5.5" the openings are approx. 1 1/4" on the outside and 1" on the inside of the hole. I see the bubbles in the glass as well as the dimples too that just shows how old this is. It could use a cleaning but will leave that up to the winning bidder. I do not see any cracks or chips except around the openings(see pics) nothing to bad. If you have the caps they will cover the chips on the ends. Here we have for sale a blue milk glass lightning ball. It is embossed SHINN SYSTEM. Ball is dirty as found on a roof. No bb damage or cracks. Top collar is a little shorter than usual. It also has a chip but a cap will affix to it no problem. The bottom collar has a piece flaked off but otherwise is in good shape. It will fit a 5/8" tube rod. Good looking ball and tougher than the Shinn Belted version.

Vintage small white milk glass hobnail lightning rod ball or oil lamp ball/ globe. I am not an expert in this area. So please review the photos and you be the judge. The holes on either end of this globe are of different diameters. Which leads me to believe it is an antique lamp part. Measures approximately 1.75" tall and just over 2" in diameter. Edges are smooth and nice. However, there are some interior hairline cracks that have collected dirt. Overall. This is in lovely condition! This milk glass is not the typical opaque white glass. But has a bit of translucency to it. Reminds me of Anchor Hocking Moonstone.
