I purchased ... moreit at an old suburban farm yard sale many years back. The steel cross arrow and James logo are flanked buy a full bodied zinc cow at the other end. The is 32-1/4 inches. It has a 5-1/2 inch, zinc, cone base-cover and a hollow zinc finial. The dark amber glass ball is 4-1/2 inches in diameter. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall. The black and gold painted surface must be at least 50-60 plus years old. The condition is very good. There is only see a slight dent in one side of the cow. The glass ball is in great shape as are the cone and finial. It doesn't appear to have any old repairs. It's held together with cotter pins to keep it lined-up. This is a rare dark blue milk glass"Onion" pattern lightning rod ball. The lines are crisp and sharp and the collars are in superb condition. One small hairline crack. Barely visible, exists in the lower flare of the ball, possible the result of multiple freeze/thaws over the years it was up. I have tried to show this in the photo and as you can see it is not very evident at all. No other cracks or holes in this ball. This is a Sun Colored Amythest(SCA) Swirl" style lightning rod ball. It is genuine authentic and antique. With large threaded holes for use on iron rods. The collars are in superb condition, perfect as far as ball collectors are concerned. The ball is in amazing condition with no chips or cracks. The color is a very light sun colored amythest. With a bit of interior dirt/staining from being up on a house for so many years. Very Stunning, noce color! There is also staining at the collars, maybe from their proximity to the rusty iron rod. I have not cleaned this ball other than a outer surface wipe. So it can be cleaned further if you wish. The collars are in superb condition, perfect as far as ball collectors are concerned. The ball is in amazing condition with no chips or cracks. The color is a beautiful gray green. Almost teal. With a bit of interior dirt/staining from being up on a house for so many years. Very Stunning, incredible color! There is also staining at the collars, maybe from their proximity to the rusty iron rod. I have not cleaned this ball other than a outer surface wipe. So it can be cleaned further if you wish.
