This is a gorgeous and fully restored antique Kretzer twisted iron rod in a black wrought iron stand. The rod was blasted clean and all copper and brass hardware polished and lacquered including the magnificent brass bayonet point/ top that had the KRETZER name deeply imprinted. The iron has been twisted and there is a female screw pattern piece at the bottom that looks copper or brass to attach to a stand. This attachment piece has"Miller" stamped on it. Piece measures 50" in length. The finial itself is 10" in length. Holding a ruler up left to right and looking at the twisted iron straight on it is 3/4" in width. The female copper or brass attach piece at the bottom looks like it has been welded on and it measures 1 1/2" in length. 5 Antique Lightning Rods w/ Balls - All Have Twisted Iron Base
I have a collection of 5 antique lightning rods. The rods are copper with a green patina- 1 rod has a break close to the bottom but can be shortened. The bases are twisted iron- 1 has a real tight twist and the other 4 have a wider twist. The rods range in length from 53" to 67" There are 3 white balls- 2 have a light purple tint to them. There are 2 blue balls. All the balls are intact but have chips around the edges. The end caps that you can get will cover this. I have never shipped lightning rods so not sure exactly how to pack them. I thought I would straighten the 3 legs of the bases and pack those with the balls in 1 box. I would wrap the rods separate and place them in the 3 sided priority mail boxes. I am going to guess the shipping to be around $40. If it is less.
