This is a wonderful vintage weathervane of a sulky with rider. Trotting horse. It is all copper and brass with great original patina. This F o lk Art weather vane dates to the 19th century. Copper forms are soldered together and the figures are hollow. This is a very large piece. The measurements are 31"W x 16.5"H. One wheel is missing a spoke and two spokes are loose on one end. I can see no other areas that need repair. This has been in a private collection for over 20 years. I do not know the original area that it came from. We had it appraised 10 years ago And the value was $10.000. Antique Copper Folk Art Rooster Weathervane I really like this folky rooster vane. It may very well be Canadian. Having both a crown, an orb and a cross, probably east coast. It is artfully cut from sheet copper and is at least 19th century, though the rooster is similar to 18th century ones. This is a beautiful old weathervane. The horse. Directional arrows, and decorative balls appear to be copper. The 3 demensional items are hollow. The horizontal bar under the horse appears to be some other material possibly brass. The verticle rod(black) seems to be steel or iron. I do not know the age, I aquired it at auction in the 80's and thought to add it to a cupola on the barn. This many years later it's still in the garage. This is a very large item and will come disassembled. I'm not sure that I have it assembled correctly but it seems to work. Overall assembled demensions are appx. 45" tall and 31" wide. Large Antique Copper Horse Weathervane Running Race Cast Metal Zinc Weather Vane
This is a really nice antique copper running horse weathervane with a solid cast metal( lead/zinc)head. Fine Patina is evidence of years in the weather. No idea of age. This beautiful piece was taken from a barn roof in PA. Found at a local estate. The man having the sale said as a boy his family bought a farm and this horse weather vane was on the barn. He said they lived there for 20 years and when they moved his father took it with them. The horse does not appear to have been cleaned or polished and shows the work of nature. I did wipe it down. The horse's head is made of zinc/lead I'm told and the body is hand formed from heavy copper and hot lead soldered together into this fine looking horse. The piece is 17" from top of the ear to the top of the pipe, The pipe is 33" long and weighs over 8 pounds. Nice detail in proper ... morehorse anatomy with muscles and veins showing. Head, eyes and mouth are so realistic. This piece is as good as I have seen and in marvelous condition with no cracks, dents or other distractions. It will need to be reattached to the pole. I do not know what the head is made from but it looks like brass(just not positive) and I do not know how old it is but it looks very old. There are hacksaw cuts where the two brass rods intersect, It looks like someone was trying to remove it and didn't know what they were doing. Vintage Weathervane Antique lightning rod Ball 21" Country Decor Farm Copper
For your consideration I have two copper lightening rods. They measure 21" tall. They do feature quite a bit of patina from years of being out in the elements but could be cleaned up nicely. The mounting brackets look as though they have been painted silver at some point. They both feature two rings with screws to hold the lightening ball in place. One goes on top and the other on the bottom of the ball. I am including a ball with each rod. One is a very pretty Easter purple color and the other is white. The balls are not cracked throughout but do exhibit some chips around the top and bottom rims as most all balls do. The rest of the ball is great condition. I do not have caps that go around the top and bottom rims of the balls. You do not need them but if you would like they can be purchased fairly inexpensive on Ebay. Here we have a estate find very old antique Weathervane rooster. Im not sure if its all hand hammer or if its copper brass or bronze nor its exact age you collectors will be the judge. I can tell you its very very old i could not find another one like it any ware on the computer. It looks like the person who owned it has a old drill bit and screw it on to a old antique block of solid wood. It does screw off its not welded on the drill bit. When you look at the bottom ware screw threads are it begins with a white metal but then it turns into a brass color metal so thats why i my self think its solid brass or bronze but again you collectors will be the judge. Please see the very close up picture of the threads and you will see exactly what i mean about the threads turning into a brass color after the first 4 or 5 threads. Here's a Great Antique 19th Century American Running Horse Weathervane with Copper Body and Cast Iron Head. Offered at NO RESERVE! The weathervane measures approximately 24 and 1/4" long and stands about 15" tall. For the age and use it's in Very Good Condition; it has a variegated verdigris and rust patination which to me looks phenomenal. The head is rusty but solid, and there appear to be several filled holes here and there. Under the head the seam is split somewhat but that could be repaired. Of course there are dents, dings, and so forth, but nothing I would rate as being negative. As far as the history, it came off a barn in Fair Haven, NJ, which was built in the 1870s, and remained in the same family until I acquired it recently. Antique folk art cow weathervane 1900's James A10B ruby globe copper & zinc
This weathervane has all the character and patina a collector could want. Fortunately it has some old west style bullet holes that gives it an even more unique appearance. The ruby red globe is without cracks or repairs. It is stamped A10B. I have no idea what that means. This piece will be packed with extreme care and sent to the new owner without any shipping or handling charges if it goes to someone in the contiguous United States. Alaska and Hawaii will be charged $30.00. I will answer questions to the best of my ability. The fittings are worn from age and use, so it will need to be tightened up if it is put to practical use. It is approx. 16" Long and wing span approx. 22" The Eagle is missing one leg cover and the balls do have some minor dings from age but still in Nice Shape for it's age. What you see in the photos is what you will receive. No directional. Just the Eagle standing on a Copper Ball with a Rod and two other Balls. ANTIQUE 1900's COPPER EAGLE WEATHERVANE Complete w ARROW MOUNT DIRECTIONALS
Hi and thanks for visiting this auction! This is an original hand made Copper Eagle Weathervane probably dating to the late 1800's or early 1900's. It is in beautiful condition as it has been on display inside for the last 40 years or so. Look close at the pictures and please ask questions before you bid! The beak shows some damage as shown in the picture. But it doesn't take away from the overall beauty of the piece. The wingspan measures about 21" it stands about 51" from the top of a wing to the base of the mounting bracket. You are bidding on the whole unit, this includes the Eagle and the copper ball he is attached to, the small ball below that, the arrow, the directional unit, another ball, the rod and mounting base. The pieces come apart and I will take it apart to ship, unless other arrangements are made. This ... moreis a very unique piece of history and will be a beautiful display piece. Antique Vintage Copper Horse Sulky Weathervane with Directionals
This is a lovely vintage HORSE& SULKY WEATHERVANE with original directionals. Cupola not included. Blown off a Connecticut Farmhouse during Hurricane Sandy. Total length of weathervane: 31" Width: 11 1/2" Height(from top of Horse to lower horizontal bar) 15" Distance between N to S. E to W: 22 1/4" Weathervane shows some sign of age. Including some spokes on the wheels that have come undone, bottom horizontal bar that has come away from one of the wheels, and reins have come away from the riders hand(coarse repair still in place- see photos) Fantastic authentic patina. Antique Victorian Weathervane Floral Topper Copper Banner Cutout Unique This is the first time we are putting this weathervane up for sale and using this auction to reach more people and hopefully find someone that appreciates the folk art pieces as much as we do. The Weathervanes were the perfect ornament to forecast any change in wind speed. Direction and weather conditions, the animal motifs were generally placed on the barn were as the banners were mainly places on the home. This is a Victorian Antique Unique Weathervane; the top has a small globe and topper with four flower petals and stems. This piece features a Banner with filigree cut out design and the Initial H in Copper. It has an ornate iron stem with four directional North. South, East and West; there is another larger center globe that attached to the metal rod. There are some ... moreremnants of gray paint here and there mainly patina. The weathervane make a unique collectibles today to decorate the home in the typical fashion or inside as a wall decoration or statue.
