Description: This listing is for a ... moreChippendale Period Slant Front Desk circa 1770-80. Salem Massachusetts, in the manner of John Chipman(b. 1746-1819) It features solid Cuban Mahogany case, each side crafted of a single solid plank, through-dovetailed at the top and dovetailed at the bottom. The slant front lid features an original keyhole escutcheon over what appears to be the original brass lock, falling onto arms that slide out with brass knobs- one original, the left one replaced. The open writing surface is clean, with what appear to be two original brass hinges, though curious patching is noted below flaking each hinge. Above the writing surface is a collection of nine small drawers, the centermost shell carved, each with brass knobs, below which a gallery of six pigeon holes rest in perfect symmetry. The case has four graduated drawers. Each of which feature period bail pull brass hardware flanking a replaced lock with original brass keyhole escutcheon. The drawers are hand dovetailed front and back, the front dovetails hidden behind applied cockbead molding. The drawers are yellow pine secondaries, the bottom being deeply chamfered along the perimeter to rabbet into the frame. They slide easily in and out of the case over replaced drawer runners, the drawer dividers running into the sides behind a mahogany facade, effectively hiding what are probably dovetail joints. The back of the case has all original backboards, though many nails are replaced. The molded apron features a carved shell drop down medallion in the center that mirrors the design of the middle drawer. The case rests over scroll cut bracket feet, each with an incredible flowing design in the manner of John Chipman. We do not believe the desk was executed in the shop of John Chipman. It has claw front feet and is in very good condition, however, it does have ... moresome light surface scratches and general wear that are typical of a piece that probably dates to the early 19th century, although I cannot be completly sure of its age. It has lovely carved accents and trim. The key is intact with it and the little side supports come out automatically when the front writing desk surface is lowered. Someone has unfortunately drilled a hole in the back that is about 2" in diameter. The desk has 4 drawers with all of the original knobs intact. It stands 41" tall at the trim at the back, 40" tall at the top, is 41" wide at the feet, 37" wide at the top, and is a total of 22" deep at the bottom, and 19" deep at the top.

Vintage Governor Winthrop Drop Front Slant Secretary Desk Claw Ball Feet Maddox
This Winthrop slant top ball and claw secretary desk dates from the 1940s. It has all the original brass Chippendale hardware on the front. As you open up the breadboard writing surface. Automatic extensions come out to support the writing lid and it also exposes a wonderful multi-cubby hole section with 3 deep drawers. This interior has a carved door storage area and two cleverly designed units behind multi turn spindle posts. When I was little my parents always used to hide things in those drawers and it took us years to figure out where they were. This desk was made by Maddox out of Buffalo. NY they were well known for their high quality and stylish furniture. It is simply stunning in its Ebony/black finish. It is large, yet perfect as a multi tasking piece of furniture for smaller homes or apartments. Drop draw front open/closes fine ... moreand gives you a large work surface which when closed this desk is perfect for a small space as it is slimmer than most. When drop front is down it measures 31 1/2" deep. Giving you a large writing/work area. Measures: 31 1/2" long x 10" deep. The top part, the middle is 17 1/2" deep and the bottom is 18 1/2" deep, it is 41 3/4" tall. There are 4 drawers that measure as follows: the top two are 3 3/4" tall, the bottom two are 5" tall. These drawers are deep and this secretary holds a lot of items. The compartments are deep and large and there are two side secret stashing vertical drawers. They come in handy for storing private items as one can't tell they exist, see our story above. This piece is very heavy as it is solid wood. Large claw foot feet with hardwood floor soft pads to prevent your hardwood flooring from scratching. If you have carpet. Then just remove these pads. We are offering this item at a bargain price. Antique 1900-1950 Slant Drop Front Oak Secretary Desk - Lionhead
I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite like it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested. Antique Secretary Desk Slant Front Wood Mahogany Rockford Chair & Furniture LPU
Selling this wood secretary desk. This was made by the Rockford Chair and Furniture Co. Rockford ILL. I am not 100% certain, but the research I've done makes me believe it was made between 1920 and 1930, but I could be wrong. This desk measures about 32 1/4" wide by 40" tall. Measures about 17 1/2" deep when closed and 29 1/2" when opened. Has various signs of age/use. Such as light scratches, a chip out of the front foot and some rough marks in the one drawer. Please have a thorough look at the photos for details. I am not sure what wood it is but I believe it is mahogany? We do not have the key. Local Pick Up Only! Cash on pick up preferred.

Antique Drop Front/Slant Front Secretary Desk 1940's
Antique Drop Front/Slant Front Secretary Desk- 1940's- Solid wood. Has Ball and Claw feet. And all original brass hardware. One brass drawer pull is broken, but I have the piece that broke off. It has three drawers, and inside of the drop down has three drawers, a door and six cubby holes. The drop-down locks, but I don't have the key for it. The dimensions are 43" high x 34" wide x 17" deep. With the drop-down open, it is 29" deep. It has a 2-1/2" x 3" section of the lower left front corner where a piece of the veneer is missing. It has a few age and wear scratches. The support hinge on the left side inside of the drop down is broken, but still sits level with the good one, so it does not sag. It may be able to be repaired, and if not, can be easily replaced. These flaws can all be seen in the photos.

Condition: Overall condition is very good. One of the ball and claw feet has some cosmetic damage.see pics of each foot. Everything is original but I am not sure about the interior draw section.this could have been added later. This particular section is darker and more of a cherry color.
