I have for sale an antique Moulthrop school desk and chair. It was made in the early 1900's by Langslow Fowler. Which was a early manufacturer of Arts and Crafts furniture in Rochester. NY. They competed with Gustav Stickley. Stickly Brothers and Roycroft. It is made of oak and iron hardware. The chair has a drawer that slides open for books. There is a inkwell holder is attached to the metal brace on the side. The black metal brace has the name MOULTHROP stamped on the bottom. And it can be raised to adjust the desk height. Angle and depth(can slide forward and back) The seat height from the floor is 16.5" The desk can adjust height from 27.5" to 31.5" The desk depth can slide from 9.5" to 14.5" The size of the desk top is 12" by 16" This is a very solid well built. Up for your consideration is a beautiful antique oak writing desk. It is in the Mission or Arts and Crafts design. We have had this for y ears in our home. It is quite sturdy. The measurem e nts are 26" deep x 38" wi de x 29 3/4" tall. The front drops down and in side is a writing platform w ith an inkwell hole. Pencil rest, and cubbies in t he back for en v elopes. Etc. To the right is a drawer which actually comes completely out. The hinges have been replaced on this front piece as well as t he glass kno bs. There is an old keyhole and the lock seems to still be intact. However we do not have a key. My husband had his computer on this desk and be cause the underside of the des k is open. He was able to keep the keyboard on the pull-out platform, and the wires fit right throu gh. The wood is oak and is in beautiful condition ... morefor being old. Hello. I'm selling my desk because I have a bigger one now. This is a turn of the century school desk with a one-piece hardwood top and iron legs. It's suitable for a smaller apartment or room. It is 28 inches high. And the wooden top is 18 deep by 30 inches across. The flat top has a lip of about half an inch high at the back of it. The desk is steady and sturdy. Quite heavy for such a small thing. It is excellent quality and has a romantic vintage feel. Beautiful Antique Golden Oak Desk with Carvings & One Center Drawer
This is a very versatile piece of furniture that is a desk but may have many other uses. The carvings(feet and sides at corners photo#4) appear hand carved and the piece could very well be prior to 1900. But I listed it 1900+ to be sure. It is a solid wood throughout and in fairly good condition-VG. It measures on top at 45.5" W and 28"D. It can add a classic look to any room with its' great style and golden oak grained color. The desk top is 29" above the floor and comfortable to sit at. The center drawer is 22"W. The"paws" are all similar and are 3"X 3.5" see photo#3) There is a small dark blemish on the wood top on the left(see photo#2) that I began to remove but it is incomplete. The bottom shelf is of a nice sweeping shape and adds to the versatility. The center drawer appears to be a replacement( ... moredrawer. It needs gluing in the front where there is a few inch separation. But it is not a difficult clamping job at all. There is a light small separation on top of the front lid that could use a little gluing to make this lovely piece in VG+++ condition. Beautiful Antique Mahogany English Inlaid Desk
You are bidding on a beautiful Antique Mahogany English Inlaid Desk. Unsure exactly how old this desk is but I have been told that it is possibly from the mid to late 1800's. There is such great detail all around this desk. On the top part of the desk there are two doors which slide open and closed. Which resembles an accordian. When the doors are open there are small pull out drawers and compartments to put pins, tacks, ink, letters, ect. The desk also has two pull out drawers on the bottom front of the desk. On the pull out drawers there are two handles for each drawer and each handle has a"hand painted porcelain piece" There are two areas that may need very little tlc. There are 2 seperate key holds which one used to lock the top two doors and the other locks the bottom pull out drawers. The lip of the desk extends so that ... moreone is able to write letters. When the lip of the desk is extended you can see the key hole just below where the two compartment doors meet. This locks the top. The lower part of the desk has two drawers each with it's own key hole for locking. As I mentioned. There are two area that may need a bit of tlc. The first area is in the front of the desk there are 2 doors, which easily slides open and closed. On both ends of the doors they are missing the edge of the door, which had a small latch in the middle. When the lip of the desk extends and both doors are closed they were able to be locked by the key hole which is located just underneath the lip of the desk. The second area that needs tlc is that one of the bottom drawers needs to have a ringlet placed back on. There would be no need to purchase the ringlet due to it being inside the desk. The ringlet came off during a move. I picked up this item at an estate sale in San Franscisco. California and it is a gorgeous piece of furniture. This is a unique item. Has been in family for over 100 years. Story is that it was made by F.L. Shafer Company in Chicago for the owner(who was somehow related to me by marriage) Definitely a custom roll top desk. It is all cherry with bird's eye maple inlays on the raised panels on the sides and drawers. The top has the most amazing wood inlay. The top has been covered in glass since the day it was made. It has no scratches. The roll top goes up and down smoothly. All the drawers slide in and out smoothly as well. Desk is original. It has never been re-finished. It is 62" wide, 27.5" deep and 46" high. It has been in my possession for about 30 years. We are downsizing and just don't have room to bring this piece along. The desk has wheels, which are all in-tact and still functional. A beautiful Wallnut drop front secretary made in the late 1880s. A really nice functional piece of furniture with plenty of storage. It has four large drawers in the bottom as well as a drop front desk that measures 14 inches high and 28 inches wide. Has seven cubby holes and two small drawers. The drop front writing area is 28" x 16" The top is 31" x 31" with two glass doors and two shelves. The piece is in two parts for easy hauling. Cannot ship out. Local pick up only.

What type of antique furniture is more revered than the secretary? Useful. Practical, and beautiful to look at. This one reminds me of an cherry empire butler's desk I had for a long time. The origins are not exactly known though the previous owner said he thought it was from the Carribean which would explain the exotic wood. Everything is mint on this desk.
