As I peruse the listings I see very similar desks all made in different places. In the days of these desks they must have been made more or less locally since there weren't highways and trucks to transport them around the country. This desk. As I presume the others as well, was patented, yet all the desks are pretty much the same. I don't understand that, maybe it was hard to enforce the patent laws back then. at any rate, this one was made by the S. S. Case Co. in Hartford. Connecticut prior to 1910. If you really want one of these desks and there isn't one local for you I am willing to ship this. It really is too large for me to find a box for it so it will have to go by freight. The desk weighs around 70lbs and I would strap it to a skid which weighs about 40 Lbs I would then stretch wrap it to keep it clean. I'm putting 130 in the freight calculator as the weight. But feel free to check other carriers on your own and I'll work with you. I've heard good things about Uship.com but you'll have to check them out for yourself. Antique school desk. Except for hardware the desk top and cubby are made entirely of wood. Desktop does have a crack in the top of it with a little accompaning warp traveling the entire length of the desktop. See picture# 3. However there is a conspicuous lack of scratching. Gouging or grafitti. I don`t think this was ever sanded down either. The steel base may have been painted over at some time as I see brush marks in the paint job. Whatever the case it was done a long time ago. I`m pretty sure this was made for younger kids. I don`t think any kid beyond third or fourth grade would be comfortable in this all day. The size of the seat and base are a little on the small side. The top however is full sized. It also is old enough to be sporting an ink well hole. Seat is in great shape. Nothing loose. So you can move them up from the values described above. Adjustments made by setting a 1/4 hex nut. See picture# 6. Thats for the top. The seat has an identical set screw of it`s own. If you leave that screw loose the seat swivels. Thats a nice bonus but it only works if the seats all the way down. Base measures 28 1/4 x 18 1/4 inches. Weight without packaging apprx. 45 lbs. Or possibly three small children, more than likely from a one room schoolhouse around the turn-of-the-century. I think the wood is Ash or Chestnut, but not positive. The top and the seat is pegged to the base. There are screws holding the seat to the back support. It is absolutely wonderful. It measures 47" long by 37" wide and 38" tall. Antique Vintage All Wood School Desk Chair Top Child Industrial Machine Age
This is an all wood antique child's chair top. It is in good condition. A few of the curved backing pieces need a little glue and a vice overnight to tighten them up to the top backrest. The piece is solid other than that. This is very old. Strong wood which has some gorgeous curvature to it. The bottom of the chair which is sat on is about 14.5" deep. The back of the chair is about 15 10/16" tall.

Up for sale is a vey old wood and metal school desk in original condition. Untouched and with all the years of use. Memories, and charm, this desk dates from the early 1900's. This can be an"Eclipse" folding desk, but I am not sure as it is unmarked from what I see. It is not cast iron, and has some rust as shown. It is blonde oak, and the best part about it is the inkwell, which is not only very hard to find in these old desks, but shows the age, as this was used when inkwells were needed. The seat folds as shown in some of the photos, and there would be another desk like this in back of it for the user of this desk to sit in. Antique Child's Miniature School Desk, Wood & Cast Iron Metal Kindergarten Size
I found this miniature child's school desk while cleaning out an old farm homestead. This desk is very small 20" tall. 17.5" long and 12.5" wide. There is a pencil groove in the top. It is wood and cast iron construction. Definitely an old one and its condition is commensurate with the age. Just as I found it, the paint is worn and missing, the metal is rusty and pitted. The bottom of the legs appear to be missing some type of foot perhaps and one leg is slightly shorter. The wood has NO rot issues.
