This auction is a late 19 th and early 20th century Sidney(Ohio) School desk known as"The Fashion" that was invented and manufactured by John D. Loughlin(born 1852 in Sidney) and his Sidney Furniture Company. Loughlin patented his T-Head cast iron ornamental frame unit so that the front of the frame held a wooden seat and back that were slightly arched for comfort. And the back of the frame a wooden desk stop with an open compartment underneath it. The desktop has a single groove in it to hold pen and pencil and open hole for an inkwell. It has a metal locking plate attached to the bottom of the rolltop that is labeled"Northwestern Furniture Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The metal plate that attaches to the desk surface is missing, as is the key, so currently, the rolltop can not be locked in place. The desk measures 5' long. 2'6" deep, 3'6.25" tall in the back, and 2'6" tall at the height of the desk. The top surface area of the desk, above the rolltop is 5' long by 11" wide. The flat desk surface area is 4'6.25" wide by 2'0.25" deep. There is a center drawer that measures 24-3/8" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 2" deep. Each of the three drawers on ... morethe left side, and the top drawer on the right side are 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 4.25" deep. The bottom file drawer on the right side is 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 10" deep. There are two flat oak writing shelves on the top of each side of drawers that pull out. The shelving underneath the rolltop portion, from the left, consists of two shelves underwhich is a drawer, three alternating open shelves with three drawers, and two sets of two open shelves with a drawer beneath each of them. There are also two pen/pencil holders near the middle, below the shelves/drawers. Overall. This desk is in nice condition, but does have some imperfections to mention. It appears that it has been refinished at some point in a satin finish polyurethane. Although it presents itself very well, it isn't perfect and does have a few small nicks/scratches in the surface, but none that are very bad. There is no structural damage and it is sturdy in place. Vintage Antique Mahogany Rolltop Desk by Derby Desk Company
This Roll-top desk is a Fine antique. Solid mahogany manufactured by Derby Desk Company Boston, Massachusetts. The desk lock is by Corbin cabinet lock company with a patent date Dec 16, 1884. I think the desk is approximately 1920, but I've gotten that from looking at other desks and growing up with other antique furniture. The size is 50" wide by 33 1/2" deep by 50 1/2" tall. It has the S type tambour roll. After the roll top is open. The side panel guides have locks that when released, allow the hinged sides to swing out of the way. All the cubbyholes, drawers and hardware are original and in good condition. The desk has raised panel sides and back including back of kneehole, with none missing. HISTORY: I bought the desk from a Mr. Harmon in Phoenix 1998 and have a receipt in the desk that Mr. Harmon bought it from his ... morefather Nathaniel P. Harmon in April 1980 in Jaffrey New Hampshire. The senior Mr. Harmon bought the desk from the original owner 40 years previous. Who was from Boston, Massachusetts. He left a stogie burn on the top of the desk, which somebody partially rubbed out, and now it's called a character mark. I thought of doing an overall staining, touch up and polishing, but decided not to, pending what a buyer might want to do if anything. This desk has been in a smoke free house since 1998. A beautiful 1/4 sawn Tiger Oak Desk. made by Standard Furniture Company in Herkimer. NY. ca 1895- 1920. The top is about 30" deep and 50" wide& 1 1/2" thick. The build design allows you to get it into tight places. The top comes off of the pedestals and the stringers come out- makes it easy for one person to move. The pedestal feet are wrapped in brass and all the original hardware is intact. The drawers lock when the center drawer is in. The kneehole is braced with brass chair impactstrips on both sides and is about 19" wide. Left side- 3 separate drawers Right side- 2 separate drawers(top is standard. Sterling Desk Company Antique Roll Top Desk with FREE Antique Chair
This is a gorgeous piece in overall good. Antique condition. I did some research on the Sterling Desk Company and determined that it was opened in Cedar Rapids, Michigan in the early 1900s, quite possibly 1909, and closed in 1917. When the roll top is closed there is a mechanism that locks all of the drawers, however the lock on the roll top itself is missing. This is a very large, heavy piece. Any potential buyer would need to consider this when picking up as there will be no help for loading. I have a rather large selection of antique wooded chairs varying in size. Style, and condition. It was wrapped for protection and stored in an airport storage hanger by Sugarland. A brass plate located on the left inside panel on the desk authenticates the desk as"Property of Hughes Tool Company” with the serial number for asset inventory of the company. It is constructed of solid walnut with 24K yellow gold trim that wraps around the top. The drawers have fitted wooden partitions that are removal and are engraved with the Doten-Dunton Desk Co. logo; along with several other places. Doten-Dunton Desk Co. was based in Cambridge, Mass known as the best manufacturer of office furniture for many years; every piece was handmade by a master carpenter. This is a very nice piece. Could easily be restored to original. Solid Oak. Very Large. I would say about 58 inches long. It actually measures out a little more but I'm not good with measurements. There is a little graffiti on the inside of the middle drawer. I could remove it, but I will leave that up to the new owner, as I am not a professional restore. The key is missing for the one drawer that is supposed to lock. All drawers are fluid and not locked. Freight shipping or local pickup.

I will consider delivery. This is your chance to own a piece of true American craftsmanship. American Furniture History and American Automobile History! Colonial Manufacturing Company. Known for their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship was in business from around 1900 to 1983. Based in Zeeland Michigan, they are known mostly for making Grandfather Clocks, but also made Library Furniture and a variety of Desks, including a custom made desk for Henry Ford. We purchased this Desk from a West Palm Beach woman. She had inherited it from her Mother. She told us that Desk originally belonged to Harley Earl(famous GM Executive known for designing the Corvette and originator of car fins among two of his many accomplishments) Harley Earl passed away in West Palm Beach at the age of 75 in 1969. We were told that her Mother was related to ... morehim. I extensively investigated. And I cannot find any internet information about this desk, neither written or images. It does have a label inside that clearly identifies the manufacturer and it also has two markings on its back; 463 and 463 CO. Restoration of this Desk took about a month. It had acquired through the years. At least 7 layers of paint on its exterior surface and original hardware. With pain staking detail and respect for this very unique piece, it now has been given a new life(everything is original, including the skeleton key) I can easily see this piece in a Spanish style historical home or preserved Palm Beach Island home. The desk is made of pine and has a simple Antique white wash applied so you can see and appreciate the wood grain and wood knots. The locking left and right cabinets have amble storage and removable shelves. The center row consists of four Drawers. The top Drawer however, is actually a hidden desk with mail slots and inset leather. The Top Drawer can pull out and it has a unique front fascia fold down feature that I've never seen before. iIf you are tired of mass-produced Ikea look alikes that last maybe a year. Then, this gorgeous piece of furniture with multiple drawers may be what you are looking for. The desk is 59 1/2" long by 31 1/2" deep and stands 30" off the floor. The top, with fully functional tamber cover, is another 20" tall with a 12" wide top. The top detaches from the two pedestals which are separated by a modesty panel. Both pedestals have pull-out writing surfaces measuring about 17" by 12" The left pedestal has four drawers and the right a larger drawer with five smaller ones below it as well as another small drawer and three small shelves. The bottom of the lower, smaller drawer is open backed and has a spring to hold papers and a pasted-in index card bearing the notation"Moon Desk Company Muskegon, Michigan. The ... moreright pedestal is unique in that it pivots closed to reveal a front of three false drawers. This desk is part of a collection including an oak three-drawer file cabinet. 1950's Central Desk Company, Chicago Walnut Secretary's Desk With Custom Finish
Welcome Today's listing is for a 1950's Walnut desk manufactured by the Central Desk Company in Chicago. Illinois. The desk drawer faces and typewriter compartment door are constructed of solid Walnut as well as all of the frame pieces. The top and side panels are Walnut veneer. Originally the desk was all the same color.blah. Boring and normal. I decided to refinish the top to remove unsightly scratches and a water stain(probably from a potted plant) clean and recoat all of the panels, drawer faces and door and paint the frame pieces, bases and hardware black with a low sheen lacquer. On the right hand side of the desk is an old typewriter roll-out and lift compartment. Now if you're like me you barely remember typewriters(and if your recollection of them is better no offense)so this compartment may seem useless but it would ... moreactually work great for a printer or even a laptop that you normally keep on top of your desk(third and fourth pictures) On the left hand side is a slide out writing surface(sixth picture) The desk has five deep drawers with lots of storage space and one of those with file folder dividers(ninth picture) To put your mind at ease about the finishing that was done. I have 22 years experience in the finishing and refinishing industry so it was not applied by some shmuck with a brush. This antique writing desk was manufactured by the Cadillac Cabinet Company in Detroit sometime between 1906 and 1908. It is made of white oak and features a pull-out drawer with a writing surface on top and storage beneath. It has seen some use. There a few scratched spots and other marks on the top and legs(see photos) but is a really nice serviceable piece of furniture. I've made no attempt to restore it. The top measures 22" x 30" and it is 29-1/4" tall. The manufacturer's label on the underside of the writing surface identifies it as a Cadillac"Desk-Table" and lists four patent dates from 1906 through 1908. Walnut roll top desk - Los Angeles Desk Company
This old desk has been in my family for over 50 years. My father used it when I was a kid and I got it when he passed away. It has given me good service for around 20 years. The desk top is a single slab of walnut. I cut a small notch on the left side to provide access for my computer cables. It is a practical useful piece of furniture and the roll top enabled me to lock up work in progress and keep things private. It has been well used. But everything works. Vintage Wooden Children's School Desk by American Seating Company Early 1900's
Here is a nice vintage child's school desk from an early 20th Century one-room school in the mountains of Southeastern Kentucky(Whitley County) My mother. A teacher, obtained it in the 1960's when they were disposing of them. She refinished it. Looks great. Beautiful wooden desk top and seat on a sturdy metal frame. Embossed on the metal are the initials"A S Co" which I believe represents the American Seating Company of Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is a truly a nice showpiece. Would be a great gift for a teacher.
