They've been in air conditioned storage since that time. These were commonly used by the medical profession. They are rare. That's for sure. The finish of the paint is still in remarkable condition, though they still need a thorough cleaning. Many of the pictures show the shiny surface of the paint, which was manufactured by DuPont. The metal surface was prepared and sprayed with a rust proofer by the Parker Rust Proof Co, with their product called Bonderite. From the"How to care for SIMMONS FURNITURE guide" SIMMONS FURNITURE protected and enhanced with Du Pont satin-finished HI-BAKE DULUX. SIMMONS Steel furniture is specially finished with Hi-Bake DULUX for outstanding beauty and durability. DULUX is an exceptionally hard finish with excellent moisture resistance that protects against rust or corrosion. With proper care. SIMMONS furniture remains beautifully new for years. Overall condition is good. The drawers are in good condition. With the top drawers showing a little rust on the inside. The second drawer down has only a small amount of rust showing, and the bottom drawer shows no rust. The drawer guides could use some graphite to restore the smooth fluid movement of opening and closing. Each piece has it's own forgivings. I tried my best to display in detail the extent of the abrasions. Dents and scratches. Examine the pictures carefully. Tears, holes or cracks and the material is soft and pliable. Antique Desk & Chair Art Deco Ealy Century Maple 1900-1940 Desk Child & Chair
Here is a beautiful child's desk& chair set. Somewhere between 1900& 1940. This is a small version of the larger ones made then. Picture#8 shows some letters& words that I cannot seem to make out. Of what was probably the manufactor. It has the original stain, which has not even been attempted to re-finish. Some think that would ruin this set. Children have definitely used it, for the wear you see, but it is solid and sturdy, and has lots of wear left in it. There are three drawers on the right side, and the top one locks. you may be able to find a key for this, or ask a locksmith to make one. Above the top drawer that locks is a little slide-out board for writing on. There is a large center long drawer too. The chair swivels, and has cast iron framing, with an adjusting center screwing device which allows for the chair height ... moreto be as low to the floor as 14 inches, up to 16 inches, easily. At it's taller setting, the chair is 29 inches tall, from top of back to floor. The seat is 12 5/8" wide and 12 3/4" deep. This is extremely well made, and sure belongs in someone's home with a child who will enjoy and use it. The desk measure 29 inches tall, and is 33 1/2 inches wide and 18 inches deep.

Description Great Art Deco desk. Stamped for Goverment Issue with George VI crown underneath, the style is plain but very much Deco lines, so I'd guess it's 30's but could be 40's. Very unusual in that thought has been given to being able to move it easily. The legs detach and can be stored underneath in a custom made area! I love it's simple lines and elegance. One drawer either side, these are curved into the knee hole, again a nod towards deco design. The light oak has patinated beautifully and is now a righ buttery colour. Made of walnut and burled walnut veneer, the desk has 3 drawers in the lower section, the middle section is a drop front desk with pigeon holes and leather work space, the upper section has leaded glass doors and adjustable shelves. ANTIQUE ART DECO c1926 AGED STEEL BRASS LEG LIBRARY OFFICE DESK TABLE ONE DRAWER
We are pleased to offer this wonderful antique desk. The desk is constructed of steel and has heavy brass(does not accept a magnet) around the bottom of the legs. The desk was produced by Art Metal and manufactured in Jamestown. NY. It is dated 11/26 in both the drawer and on the inner section of the desk. The desk retains the original, chocolate brown paint on the sides, front and the back. The top has no paint(maybe originally designed this way) and is a silver, steel color. Each exterior side of the desk features a large, stenciled, Art Deco styled medallion. I think this was probably added to the desk at some point and do not think it is original. It does give the desk a unique look, however. The desk was made for reading or writing. It does not have side storage but does have a large center drawer. A partial foil manufacturer's sticker ... moreis located inside the desk. In their most prosperous years, Art Metal won exclusive rights to furnish public libraries, offices, etc. with their noncombustible furniture. They made excellent quality pieces and this desk is a fine representation of their quality. The desk is in very good structural condition. It is heavy and quite sturdy. The finish has a general aged appearance(which I happen to like) The paint has peeled in areas and the top has some aged, rusted spots. If you don't care for the aged character, you could strip and refinish pretty easily. The desk measures 28" tall. Art Deco Waterfall Kneehole Desk and Chair
Beautiful Desk and chair(I will add that picture later today) waterfall art deco style. This desk and chair has been in my family and used for 4 generations. I believe it was refinished in the 70's or 80's, I am certain it was not stripped as it would have destroyed the piece. There is a 2"x3" spot on the top that had sustained some type of damage and was repaired, it is noticeable but is easily concealed with any variety of things you may place on a desk. I have searched the internet for days and have not found anything like this desk, its simple lines make it easy to match with almost any décor, the handles are actually carved into the inside of the drawers where the chair would sit. There are 4 drawers on each side and one in the center. The drawers are dovetailed and the whole piece seems to be put together with ... moredowels, I have seen no evidence of nails. I will add more information on this piece while it is up at auction as I come across it. Other waterfalls desks of this era I have seen at auction going for $1600- $3200, I doubt if this is in that price range, but it is not a simple $200 desk. Below, there are two useful storage areas on top of the pedestals which features gallery backs and sides so that items do not fall off the pedestals. To the left pedestal there are three working drawers. In the right pedestal is another similar sized working drawer and below is a large filing drawer complete with the original file dividers. The drawers feature the original drawer handles and the drawer linings are constructed of sycamore and are hand dovetailed. This is a single piece of furniture and does not dismantle. Art Deco Desk Vintage Era 1930's with 3 drawers - RARE!
What a fantastic high style original Deco era desk. I haven't seen another like it on e-bay or anywhere else! The shape is unique and epitomizes the style of the 1930's. If you're looking for a statement piece. You've found it! The desk measures 4' x 2' ideal for smaller rooms or a special nook. It is solid mahogany which has a beautiful luster. I had it refinished about 5 years ago, there's some minor wear around the front and bottom edges of the desk, and a few dings on the surface(pictured) which don't take away from the overall elegance and beauty of the desk. this is a used desk.Its made of real wood very heavy,it has some discoloration to the desk original color, it does have a glass top in perfect condition, thiers a metal label on the inside of the one of the drawers that says robert w. irwin company grand rapids, desk aslo has lots of scrapes scatches and a few tares, but tares are visible on a couple of the drawers,and im missing one of the knobs, also one knob is missing the middle part that where the screw goes in it(3) screws missing also, but i hope you,ll find desk of good use as it is vintage or'antique it maybe of more valuable im just not a antique kind of person. i liked it because i was able to display my picture under the glass very neat! i never painted or fixed it up because they always say leave antiques in its original condition are it could lose value so my desk is sold ... moreas is, its still in very good condition! pickup only)

FLETCHER AVIATION DESK ART DECO MID CENTURY AIRCRAFT INSPIRED RARE OFFICE DESK
Fletcher Aviation company office desk. Wow extremely rare very desirable mid century modern desk made by the Fletcher Aviation company of Pasadena. California around 1945 to 1946. The metal data plate in one of the drawers reads“patent applied for” and thus indicates that the date is prior to the patent issue date in 1947. These desks were made to fit in a corner so the two or more workers could occupy space where previously on one could. There are several styles of finish and color of these desks, with some being fancy and some more simple and modern and streamlined. Many are painted black now to hide a poor finish. Ours has never been restored or touched. The kick panel on the underside where you feet would touch if you had long legs, is broken and needs to be replaced, which could be done by someone who is versed in curving and setting ... morethin plywood. Some of the drawers dovetail joints may need to be re-glued, but they still slide in and out fine. There are numerous little scratches and dents etc to the finish, and there are some places where the trim is damaged, where I am pointing in the pics pretty much, but there are more areas than that. There are at least two cigarette burns, I am pointing to them. Many of these desk have the date when they were made written in chalk on the bottom, but this one does not. Just the Stamp that reads Bleached Mahogany on the bottom of the drawer. This is a very unusual desk to be sure. As these are made by an aviation company and not furniture makers, they are very lightweight, and made like a WWII aircraft would be and not a piece of furniture. There are several nice examples of these on the internet, and a few in modernist museums. This one is a true California original. It has no doubt lived it's life here and would be nice if it stayed here, I am sure that a Modern or Googie style collector would find this most appealing.
