Condition: Used Location: Fairfield, United States We are pleased to be offering today what I believe to be a bench made custom solid tiger sawn oak Chippendale raised panel all the way around cabriole ... moreleg flat top desk that dates from the 1890's. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

This desk is all tiger sawn oak, all the way around. It has dovetail construction, raised panel drawer fronts, raised panels front, back, and everywhere you look. The only thing we’ve done to this desk is recanvas the roll, which is a job we normally charge $250 for, and we glued up some joints. The desk comes complete with everything except a key. It has the pencil trays and pullout trays, bars to hold letters, and letter slots on the sides. The drawers are four of equal size on the left side, with a pullout writing surface, a center drawer, and two normal size drawers and a simulated dual drawer that is really a file cabinet, along with another writing surface, on the right hand side. The desk has as many raised panels as you can imagine, which you can see in the pictures. The inside of the writing surface, which would normally be all beaten up on a desk like this, is really in pretty good shape despite a bit of wear and tear. Solid oak, raised panel 54" wide, serpentine ROLL TOP DESK. In as found condition. We removed this desk from a local jewellry store that just closed after nearly 100 years. It retains the original varnish, a full complement of cubby drawers, raised panels inside the knee area. And all around the outside. There are 4 drawers on the left bank, 3 drawers on the right, including the bottom oversized drawer; a center pencil and supply drawer, and an assortment of small drawers in the upper cuppyhole compartments. The desk sits on four heavy duty wheels allowing you to easily move it to clean around it. MEASUREMENTS. 50.5" TALL 34.5" DEEP 54" WIDE Problems are ... moreminor and includes the canvas on the roll. It has split in two places so it will need to be replaced. The old owner jerryrigged a thin wire system to hold it together so it was operable. The other problem is a screw on the face of the pencil drawer.It's small but doesn't belong there. Other that that the piece is in pretty good condition. Certainly restorable to look as new. The desk does disassemble. The top comes off with six screws. The back panel has four screws on each side and the spreader in front has 2 screws. Now it's very managable. Come pick it up in Chicago. Antique Roll Top Pedestal Desk, Quarter Sawn, Tiger Oak, Raised Panel
Antique Quarter Sawn. Raised Panel, Tiger Oak. Roll Top Desk I think this desk was manufactured in the early 1900’s. But I haven’t found any identifying marks. The wood grain is beautiful. The desk top is 54” x 32 ½” and the overall height is 53” The height of the desk top is about 32" There are four drawers on each side. All of the drawers are very deep and slide smoothly. The roll top moves up and down with a little effort. It takes two hands to open and close it. The caster wheels(not original) can be removed easily. Photo#4 shows the two slide-out writing panels. In photo#5 a red arrow points to a horizontal board that is not original. In photo#6 a red arrow points to a chipped board. Photo#7 includes a close-up of the lock. A drawer, and the underside of the desk top. Photo#8 shows the roll top section with all four drawers ... moreopened slightly(2 rectangular drawers and 2 small triangular pencil drawers) In photo#9 two cigarette burns are circled in red. Photo#10 shows a drawer with dividers, the underside of the slide-out panels, the underside of the roll top(laying on the floor) and the underside of one of the two small drawers from the roll top section. Photo#11 shows several holes that are near the corner of one of the pedestals. Apparently something was attached to the desk at one time. A lamp, perhaps. There are five holes along the front right edge and 10 holes on the right side, near the front edge. In photo#12 two chipped spots are circled in red. This desk has age appropriate signs of wear. Including chips and light scratches. I don’t have a key for the the lock. The front of one of the small pencil drawers has warped, and one of the guide rails for that drawer is loose. The panels on the back of the roll top section have warped, but they are intact. I know that I’ve listed a lot of condition issues. But none of them jump out at you when you first see the desk. People who see it typically say something like“Wow, that’s a beautiful desk. I can’t believe it’s 100 years old. The roll top

Vintage Raised Panel Quartersawn Oak Desk - Eastlake features - executive size
This charming raised panel tiger oak desk dates from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. It is a large desk. And it is perfectly suited for a professional. Such as a lawyer, a banker, or a doctor. The desk has a removable top. Two pedestal bases, eight drawers, and two writing pull-outs. Please note the Eastlake design on the face of the drawers. This is a rare and unusual feature. The desk was refinished about 30 years ago by newlyweds who had received it as a gift from the bride's parents. The couple spent an entire summer stripping and refinishing the desk. Please view the pictures to see the current condition of the desk. The top of the desk has an ink stain the couple was unable to remove. The desk needs a couple of drawer handles.
