The piece appears to be made of chestnut and has been refinished in the past and has some rough edges. It has excellent form with cutouts at the top and a pair of pinned through tenons at the top and bottom of each side. There is a lower shelf and the drop front flips up via a locking metal support arm. The desk is signed with a brand as pictured. The desk is sturdy and strong. We h ave an artist around here who can add tiny wood to nic k you see on the second image. It will be perfect and you will not see the nick but this job will cost you $90. We have since found out through an online appraisal company that ... moreis is an Antique Drop Front Writing Desk" from around 1900-1915. But it will really always be"Grandpa's writing desk" Unfortunately my seller is downsizing their home and grandpa's desk needs to find a new place to go. It is a lovely little piece measuring 39" tall. 27" across and 15" deep. It is in nice condition given it's age, but it does have a small chip out of the front right corner post. You can see it in the photos. The interior is plain with no shelves, drawers or cubbies. The information that I received from the appraisal company is as follows: The drop front oak(not quarter-sawn oak) writing desk is a Mission style Arts and Crafts desk; there is a keyhole in the top of the fall front and a small gallery or backplate on the top back of the desk. There is an"H" stretcher in the middle bottom of the desk and a vertical"X" stretcher on each bottom side of the desk; the legs are quadrant legs; there is one drawer with round brass pulls beneath the fall front. I would date the desk C. 1900-1915; the value would be between $625.00 and $700.00 in today's retail market. Due to the size of this item it will not be available for shipping. The Weiss(or Weis) insignia on the front is barely legible. The outside dimensions are: 5 1/2" high. 6 3/4" wide, 8 3/8" deep and the wood is 1/4" thick. The top opens up until the back of the lid touches the back of the box but it can be balanced up if need be. We have since found out through an online appraisal company that is is an Antique Drop Front Writing Desk" from around 1900-1915. But it will really always be"Grandpa's writing desk" Unfortunately my seller is downsizing their home and grandpa's desk needs to find a new place to go. It is a lovely little piece measuring 39" tall. 27" across and 15" deep. It is in nice condition given it's age, but it does have a small chip out of the front right corner post. ANTIQUE MISSION OAK BEDROOM DESK This desk is of the type used in bedrooms during the turn of the century due to the small size of most rooms during the early America years. In addition to being used as a desk they were also used as secretaries. Sewing tables and also doubled as a night stand. This desk measures 47 1/2" in length in the unfolded position. 23 1/2" folded x 23" deep x 25 1/2" high. The folding legs are turned and have wooden casters, and the drawers are made with dove tail joints. This is a very sturdy desk which I have been using for the past six years as my computer desk. There are a few blemishes which can be seen in the photo's which can be best described as scratches and a few heat scorch marks which may have been from an iron. Up for your consideration is a beautiful antique oak writing desk. It is in the Mission or Arts and Crafts design. We have had this for y ears in our home. It is quite sturdy. The measurem e nts are 26" deep x 38" wi de x 29 3/4" tall. The front drops down and in side is a writing platform w ith an inkwell hole. Pencil rest, and cubbies in t he back for en v elopes. Etc. To the right is a drawer which actually comes completely out. The hinges have been replaced on this front piece as well as t he glass kno bs. There is an old keyhole and the lock seems to still be intact. However we do not have a key. My husband had his computer on this desk and be cause the underside of the des k is open. He was able to keep the keyboard on the pull-out platform, and the wires fit right throu gh. The wood is oak and is in beautiful condition ... morefor being old. I will describe condition as best as possible and have taken many pictures which show every side of item. PLEASE NOTE- white spots on desk in photos are fresh snowflakes that just started to fall. Desk is stored indoors but photos were taken while moving the desk. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. Solid oak and all original. The finish is very well preserved with warm patina and just enough wear, stains and mars for antique character. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its soft luster. Locks work, upper shelves adjust on wooden supports. Up for sale is a Beautiful Quarter Sawn Oak Teachers Desk and Chair. This is a nice solid piece. The desk measures approx. 61 inches wide. 33 inches deep and 30 3/4 inches high. The top of the desk is leather but is in a very used condition. There are 3 small draws on the left side, 1 small and 1 large draw on the right side, a middle draw and 2 pull out writing trays. This desk come the original quarter sawn oak chair on rollers. The base has had some repair(see last picture) but is very solid. Very nice piece. NO RESERVE

We are pleased to offer this antique desk. This is a beautiful old desk dating to the early half of the 20th century. The desk is made of solid oak in the Mission. Arts& Crafts style. It is"Stickley" styled with a clean, simple design. The desk top is compromised of 2 planks which provide a generous work space. It has a single center drawer for pens, pencils, etc. Each side features two, open shelves for paper/file storage. The legs are simple and slightly supercede the height of the table top. The desk has wooden buttons which cover the screws/nails. It is in very good antique condition. There is a very slight bow on the top which is neither severe or distracting. There are some minor nicks and dings from use, but again, nothing too obvious or distracting. There is one screw cover that is missing on the back of the desk(see ... morephoto 10) The desk is sturdy and the screws can be tightened if they loosen. This is a beautiful piece of old furniture with a nice, Mission design. The desk measures 30" tall. It is 42" wide and 26" front to back. The knee height of the center section is 25.5" tall. This piece is from the early 1900s and is 100% all original with leather pads for the inkwells. It measures 15 x 8 x 1" These are really hard to come by specially in this condition. ANTIQUE OAK TRIPLE MIRROR DRESSING TABLE VANITY. Empire Mission Style Circa 1900's. Made by INNIS PEARCE& Co. Rushville IN. Hard to find. Triple-mirrored dressing table, includes 1 full width drawer and mirrors that swing in on each side. Drawer works fine, has dove tailed joints. Mirrors in good condition. Style of this vanity has influences of Mission with the straight lines, and also Empire with the curved scrolled front legs, typical of a late 19th century transitional piece. Regarding wood color, it is a dark oak. As you can see this is a wonderful piece and could be used in many places in a home. Condition is very good, sturdy and clean, no odors, ready to go into your home. As with most antiques, it has it's minor flaws, nothing to totally distract from it's beauty, or usability, aged wood has such character. It does ... morehave some marks, some fine steel wool and a bit of stain could probably remedy most, if you like perfection. Could be improved with restoration but again that is your choice. There are no apparent signs of damage or previous repairs. It measures 28" wide. 48" long and 28" tall. There are book shelves on both end caps and lovely designs cut into the legs. The drawer pulls in and out smoothly, as it should. The top's finish does show some wear from age and usage(see pictures) which can be easily refinished, if so desired. Art& Crafts Mission Oak 1905 Pat. Antique Printer Desk. Made for a printer in Oshkosh. Wisconsin about 1905, this Arts and Crafts or Mission Oak period desk marked"Pat. 1905" has fascinating features. On the left is a shallow drawer with a tin bottom for metal type. Below is a file drawer with a front that tilts open and the adjustable pusher tilts back for easy access. Six shallow drawers were made for large wooden type and advertizing logos. At the bottom right are two 3x5 card file drawers with pushers. Deep drawers glide smoothly and have dovetailed joints. Brass feet protected the legs when floors were mopped. Richly figured quarter sawn oak has an excellent deep finish. Cast brass hardware is original. But one is slightly different, presumably a replacement.
