The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

The desk was refinished in the last 10 years or so and whoever it was did a wonderful job. The desk has dainty carved cabriole legs with brass fillagree on the elbows and castors. The drawers are all dove tail with brass ribbed knobs. The doors have locks, but there is no key. The desk is in wonderful condition apart from two small cracks on the solid oak top that has nothing to do with structure and you wouldn’t want to touch it. Impressive Solid Tiger Oak S Roll Large Secretary Desk with Bookcase Top c1900 What an impressive solid Oak& Tiger Oak S roll desk this is with is large bookcase top with two adjustable shelves. And beautiful fitted desk interior with deep red faux leather writing surface and large storage drawers on each side. This desk is solid oak with the secondary wood on the interior being pine. Gorgeous detailed dental block molding and beaded trim accent the top with the sides of the desk featuring picture framed molding encasing the recessed panels of oak with prominent rosettes. This fine turn of the century desk appears to have been fully restored at some point in time and is in excellent antique condition ready to be placed in your home. The desk lock is no longer present but could be replaced if one desired to do so. A unique feature of this ... moredesk is that the drawers will not open unless the S roll is all the way up. NY Broad 5 1/2' top is solid tiger maple? with impressive grain. Handsome. Substantial solid brass hardware. Pocket panels on each side slide out to provide additional work surfaces. Beautiful. Impressive grain-matched top and front(see photos) This piece has an impressive and professional presence. Yet is simple and functional. Some Abrasions to inside kneehole edges and feet from chair legs. These blemishes may be refinished pretty easily. Top could use refinish but has since been cleaned up with decent shine using Amish Milk. Solid joinery. Free-sliding drawers, ready to go to work. Very Solid desk. 4 boards across the top with some minor wear, but it is what you would want, not abused, just wear. SMOOTH top. It measures 30" high x 27-1/2" deep x 43-3/4" wide with a single drawer in the center about 19" wide x 18" deep x 3-1/2" tall As you can see in the pics.
