Old Vintage Antique :Leather Top Partner's Desk Liverpool England Fine Mahogany
Thrift store fresh. It has a name on it that we can't make out that appears to start with the letters"M-O-S-T" and was made in Liverpool England. Large, heavy piece-measures about 70" long by 46" across, and stands about 30" high. Condition is good with a few expected bumps and bruises, and two handles that are there, but need to be put back on. A few pieces of missing beading strips are missing, but there are a couple pieces of it in the drawer, and can be put back on with a couple dabs of glue. One of the long beaded pieces around one side is somewhat loose, but again, it will take all of 2 minutes to re-glue it back into place. It has only a couple minor dings where the wood has small losses, and that one split that will need to be re-glued down, and stained over(see close-up) We were tempted to polish it up ... moreand re-stain a couple areas ourselves, but the patina and wear is so fantastic, we decided to leave it alone in case some of y'all liked it that way. One of the side doors(with faux drawers) is loose, and will need a second hinge before it can be reattached properly(see photo) All these are simply minor details, and with about a 1/2 hours worth of TLC, you will have a piece worth multiples of what we are asking. the leather top is in great shape, with no rips or tears, and only the expected wear for an old piece like this. Due to the size of this one, it is offered with local pick-up only here in the Chattanooga area. Not to sound mean, but the price is FIRM upon pick-up, as the last two local pick-ups turned into haggling sessions in my driveway, and that is not going to happen on this one. The finish is in excellent condition on this American made office or library furniture. There are minor mars at the edges and in the top for antique character. See photos. It is a true partners desk with drawers and a cabinet on each side. The unique brass corners and inset brass handles are what give this desk its campaign appearance. ... moreCampaign furniture was originally used by officers in the military and was fashioned to be broken down and moved easily from base camp to base camp as the officer progressed. The style has become more popular as time has gone by. While having been made around 1940. This partners desk was probably not used by the military, but was made in that style. Both sides are identical and consist of a large cabinet in the left pedestal and a bank of regular drawers in the right. The middle drawers have locks but no key remains. The top is a lovely black leather that appears new. This leather has a lovely gold tooling around the outside. Leather makes a fabulous writing and work surface and has an incredibly handsome look. Mahogany is the wood used to construct the desk and it has a lovely grain and color. This antique campaign desk does separate into the top and two pedestals for easier moving. Knee-hole measurements are 33″ wide x 24″ tall. Overall the condition of the desk is very good. It has some cosmetic dings and chips through out.
