This desk was never refinished. it is as it was when taken out of the school. In Union City, ... moreConnecticut. It's in good condition ready for your re-finishing. As I peruse the listings I see very similar desks all made in different places. In the days of these desks they must have been made more or less locally since there weren't highways and trucks to transport them around the country. This desk. As I presume the others as well, was patented, yet all the desks are pretty much the same. I don't understand that, maybe it was hard to enforce the patent laws back then. at any rate, this one was made by the S. S. Case Co. in Hartford. Connecticut prior to 1910. If you really want one of these desks and there isn't one local for you I am willing to ship this. It really is too large for me to find a box for it so it will have to go by freight. The desk weighs around 70lbs and I would strap it to a skid which weighs about 40 Lbs I would then stretch wrap it to keep it clean. I'm putting 130 in the freight calculator as the weight. But feel free to check other carriers on your own and I'll work with you. I've heard good things about Uship.com but you'll have to check them out for yourself. Polyeurethane or paint etc. Nicely painted red with eagle decal. Seat is wood and metal steel and marked Pat'd July 28. 1925 or 26. T he desk top is wood and lifts open to store paper and supplies perfectly. Cle an inside- compartment measures 3" deep. Both the seat and the desktop operate as they should. This is a very handsome hardwood school master's desk from the 1870-1890 era. It has wear that might be expected with its age to the finish. But nothing obvious and it is ready for display. The desk is solid and all parts function as expected. I believe that it is made of cherry, but no guarantees. There are 3 interior drawers and all have tight, skillfully made dovetail joints. The dimensions are 39 1/2" high at the back of the desk, 23" deep and 33" wide.

ANTIQUE SCHOOL DESK with Ink well and original graffitti! This desk was never refinished. it is as it was when taken out of the school. In Union City, Connecticut. It's in good condition ready for your re-finishing. As I peruse the listings I see very similar desks all made in different places. In the days of these desks they must have been made more or less locally since there weren't highways and trucks to transport them around the country. This desk. As I presume the others as well, was patented, yet all the desks are pretty much the same. I don't understand that, maybe it was hard to enforce the patent laws back then. at any rate, this one was made by the S. S. Case Co. in Hartford. Connecticut prior to 1910. If you really want one of these desks and there isn't one local for you I am willing to ship this. It really is ... moretoo large for me to find a box for it so it will have to go by freight. The desk weighs around 70lbs and I would strap it to a skid which weighs about 40 Lbs I would then stretch wrap it to keep it clean. I'm putting 130 in the freight calculator as the weight. Purchased many years ago by the current owner for a larger home than the bungalow* she now resides in. The owner of the store where she purchased it from had tagged it as about 100 years old from a one room schoolhouse in Tennessee. The photos say it best. I have included with and without flash photos so you can see its the hues in different lights. The patina is eye candy, and the strong grain stands smooth and proud with the natural sheen from decades of books sliding back and forth across it. The desk stands tight and level and is in superb original condition with all the original wood pieces, screws and hardware, including the desk latch/lock-simple yet efficient. The only non-original item is a small well done wood brace that you have to stick your head inside the desk and look up to find. The brace has brass round-head screws which ... moresuggests a post-war repair since flat-head iron screws are more common from pre-war construction and this type of fastening is what is used in the desk. It is approximately 21" inches wide and 20" deep, it stands 27" tall in front and 31" tall in back, the bottom shelf is 8" x 21" the inside of the desk storage area is 19" wide and 17" front to back and varies from 4" to 6" deep. I have looked at maybe 500 + photos of old school desks and have found only one of similar construction(and it is from England and is listed only as"Old School Desk" for $800 USD) This gives some credence to the one-room schoolhouse the dealer claimed. Probably built by a local carpenter out of Tennessee Pine or similar local wood just for this single classroom. I cannot guarantee any special providence or exact age for this item but can only tell you what the dealer told my client. How it was tagged and what I have found out in my research. It is 28 inches high. And the wooden top is 18 deep by 30 inches across. The flat top has a lip of about half an inch high at the back of it. The desk is steady and sturdy. Quite heavy for such a small thing. It is excellent quality and has a romantic vintage feel. The wood on top is in good condition and it just needs a little oil every once in a while to keep it that way. Perfect for a small desk. Antique All Wood Two Seater Tall School Desk
I've done this for 30 plus years and have never run across a school desk like this before. It's a two seater. Or possibly three small children, more than likely from a one room schoolhouse around the turn-of-the-century. I think the wood is Ash or Chestnut, but not positive. The top and the seat is pegged to the base. There are screws holding the seat to the back support. It is absolutely wonderful. It measures 47" long by 37" wide and 38" tall. Antique Vintage All Wood School Desk Chair Top Child Industrial Machine Age
This is an all wood antique child's chair top. It is in good condition. A few of the curved backing pieces need a little glue and a vice overnight to tighten them up to the top backrest. The piece is solid other than that. This is very old. Strong wood which has some gorgeous curvature to it. The bottom of the chair which is sat on is about 14.5" deep. The back of the chair is about 15 10/16" tall.

This is a sweet antique school desk is in good condition. I bought it about 30 years ago at an antique store in Ft. Worth. Tx. and refinished it. The wood is probably pine. The desk has been kept on display indoors since its purchase. If you are familiar with these desks. The kid in the seat behind actually uses this desk. These were a little before my time, but that appears to be how they worked. When the seat is down. The desk is about 30 inches in depth, 21 inches wide, and 25 inches tall. The dimensions of the top of the desk are about 20 ½ wide by 13 ½ deep. There is an indention for a pencil and a wooden‘cubby’ for papers and books. The seat in the front and flips down for seating and up if not needed. It also has a clear glass inkwell for‘real’ ink– no ball points yet. The sides are made of heavy black cast iron and have ... morethe number 4 embossed on each side. The feet have holes for screwing the desk into the wooden school house floor. Antique British Thornton School Drawing Desk. This is a rare rotating drawing desk in vintage condition. The green top slips forward to rotate so that you can attach work to both sides of the desk top and flip between the two. The top frame also pivots forward for a more comfortable working position. It has been rescued from an old school demolition project and as such carries many marks and school scribbles. A very beautiful desk and a great opportunity to purchase a design classic. Measurements. Length 118cm. Depth 57cm. Height 71cm. Collection from either Stockport SK4 or Oldham OL9. I have four of these desk in total. Antique 1900's Folding Wood SCHOOL DESK w/INKWELL! Restore or Repurpose
Up for sale is a vey old wood and metal school desk in original condition. Untouched and with all the years of use. Memories, and charm, this desk dates from the early 1900's. This can be an"Eclipse" folding desk, but I am not sure as it is unmarked from what I see. It is not cast iron, and has some rust as shown. It is blonde oak, and the best part about it is the inkwell, which is not only very hard to find in these old desks, but shows the age, as this was used when inkwells were needed. The seat folds as shown in some of the photos, and there would be another desk like this in back of it for the user of this desk to sit in. In other words, the seat on this desk would have been used for the desk of the child in front of this one) It was purchased from the original owner who was using it as a lamp table for his childs room. ... moreYou can of course restore it if you wish, and Im sure it would look amazing, or else you could leave it and reuse it like the original owner did, and leave it in its charming old condition. Worn, but built to last like all things made in the old days, this desk is about 24.5" tall and 17.3/4" wide/desktop. It is HEAVY so of course I prefer local pickup, but I will ship it if you are willing to pay for it. I am having my son weigh it now to get an approximate shipping weight. I live upstate NY but work in NYC so I am also willing to drop it off between here and my house if that works out.Similar antique desks are listed for $75-$85 and have no inkwell, so look for yourself and then come back and bid here with confidence. Antique School Desk by E H Stafford Co
This charming original desk has a patent date of Dec 31. 07 marked on the bottom seat frame. They were manufactured between 1907-1929. This therefore is one of the earlier ones. It is in excellent shape with some original markings by it's young scholars still on the top of the desk. The wood is in excellent condition- no cracking or separating. All the hinge movements are clean and smooth. This is a very tight little desk- no wobbles on a level surface.

Antique Cast Iron& Wood School House Desk I picked this wonderful antique School house desk up at an estate sale. It is made out of cast iron and wood. And has an inkwell hole. The cast iron sides have been done in an ornate Victorian style and say"PAT.AUG 7 1891, JAN 8 1894 BUFFALO NEW YORK" The feet have holes in them for anchoring the desk to a wood floor. The desk is all original but appears to have been cleaned up or refinished. Desk still has pencil scratches and marks from when it was actually used in a school house. The front fold up.
