The writing surface is covered in black felt and pulls out to provide a larger area. There is a large overhanging drawer as well as two smaller drawers and a cabinet below, for even more storage. All of the drawers have brass pulls and escutcheons and dovetail joints. The lower area is spoon carved in a charming leaf pattern. This piece most likely dates from the late 1800's. This piece is in good condition. But does have some cosmetic flaws, as is to be expected in a piece of this age. Several of the escutcheons are missing as well as the door pulls on the upper cabinet. The drawer pulls are loose as well and one of the escutcheons looks like it has been reattached. There is a piece of wood missing from the molding below the desk top as well. See picture) There is also significant wear to the felted writing surface. No other significant damage or repairs. The entire desk stands about 88" 7'4" tall. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

The desk was refinished in the last 10 years or so and whoever it was did a wonderful job. The desk has dainty carved cabriole legs with brass fillagree on the elbows and castors. The drawers are all dove tail with brass ribbed knobs. The doors have locks, but there is no key. The desk is in wonderful condition apart from two small cracks on the solid oak top that has nothing to do with structure and you wouldn’t want to touch it. This is a very fine antique American carved oak desk. It is large and very substantial with a new set in felt top framed by oak. The drawers are carved. Dovetailed and retain the original brass knobs. It has fancy carved corners and panels framed by decorative moldings all around. The doors have nicely carved raised panels and decorative moldings. Oak Desk from carved 1905 Esty Pump Organ cabinet
This is an old Estey pump organ built in 1905. It is in oak with lots of incised carvings. The original high back/top had been removed for a mantel top. The works were missing parts and beyond my expertise. So were removed. I tried to use all the pieces of original wood in the conversion. I made doors in the bottom(for storage) from the original panels, recessed the panel where the pump pedals were, for a knee hole. The carved panel that was in front of the keyboard is used on top as a splash back. 1 board was added to the keyboard cover, needed for extra width.The 2 stationary carved panels at top, left and right, were removed and made to slide for access to storage space. The original sheet music stand was cut down, hinges added to let it fold forward for access to more storage in which I added dividers for cubbyholes. I made cubbyholes ... morefor the interior and used an old rolltop desk top for a slide-out writing surface. I attached the back panel w/screws to make them removable. The shelves in bottom storage are removable. This could be a great computor desk. As far as I know its one of a kind. I am a proffessional antique furniture restorer so this is not a cobbeled up piece. If I had the space, I would have to keep it(per she who must be obeyed) I also installed casters.
