Crafted of solid quarter sawn oak about 1900. A side by side secretary desk and bookcase has an original beveled mirror and glass in the bookcase door. The deep finish has warm antique patina. The lock and key in lower door doesn't work. The key is a handle only. There is some silver loss on the back of mirror but mirror could be easy replaced. Inside the drop front desk are tiny cubicles and a drawer for papers. Bookshelves are adjustable on this American made furniture. Brass hardware is original. Measurements of this charming and functional desk are 39" wide. 14" deep and 46" tall. All our furniture is vintage. With a gloss– shellac like finish. This shows no gloss loss, color loss, stain or chips. A beautiful Victorian style decal is applied to the surface and it has a lovely rose in the art. I note some light scuff. Truly a lovely piece. This was last used in a bed and breakfast setting at a Victorian Inn. I believe it quite fitting for that setting. I used it a number of times to hold a canvas for painting and holding music and reading.

Excellent Antique Oak Half Curio Cabinet Half Secretary PICK UP ONLY
This antique oak half curio cabinet half secretary is in great condition! It is approximately 100 years old. There is no documentation we just know that is has been in the family for 3 generations. With no documentation all the information I have is based on family stories. It is the original finish and the only marring is on one foot(shown in picture) The back appears to have one patch and the mirror is re-enforced(I do not know if that was done originally or later) Also there is some type of packing material visible on the back where the secretary and the curio meet. The curio cabinet is a curved door with adjustable shelves. This is the original glass! The secretary portion has the original mirror and carvings around the mirror. It has a drop down desk and slots for letters and pens behind the drop down portion. There are three drawers ... moreunderneath the desk. The bottom one curves slightly out and the top two are flat surfaced. There is an ink stain in the top drawer(shown in picture) It measures 70" tall. 36" long, and 12" wide. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It is a solid oak piece with all the original hardware and original beveled mirror. We did add the glass shelves. They were missing when we purchased this piece many years ago. It has a drop leave desk that hides all the little cubbies and small drawer. There is a storage closet and a larger drawer under the drop leave desk. We have the original key and it still works. There is a tiny mark on the top(under the mirror) that looks like a tiny burn mark or mark of some kind. The key is meant to fit three doors. It works fine on the glass door that encloses the glass shelves and it also works fine on the drawer under the desk top. The mechanism is missing to lock the large door under the desk top. The piece is numbered with"172" carved into the wood inside the large storage area under the desk top. The original paper work is still attached to the back of the piece giving care instructions and stating that it was made in the LARKIN plant#
