The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

It is an unusual desk with drawers opening on both sides and one door on both sides. Each side has a center drawer, a right-hand drawer, and a right-hand door. The desk was refinished in the last 10 years or so and whoever it was did a wonderful job. The desk has dainty carved cabriole legs with brass fillagree on the elbows and castors. The drawers are all dove tail with brass ribbed knobs. The doors have locks, but there is no key. The desk is in wonderful condition apart from two small cracks on the solid oak top that has nothing to do with structure and you wouldn’t want to touch it. The overall size is 52 inches wide, 28 inches deep and 30 inches high.

The Weiss(or Weis) insignia on the front is barely legible. The outside dimensions are: 5 1/2" high. 6 3/4" wide, 8 3/8" deep and the wood is 1/4" thick. The top opens up until the back of the lid touches the back of the box but it can be balanced up if need be. Antique Tiger Oak Desk, curved drawer fronts, Unusual, Vintage, French maybe
Antique Tiger Oak Desk This beautiful desk has been sitting in storage for 30 years. It looks really old. But I have no idea how old it is or where it came from. The number 126 is impressed into the underside of the desk, but I have found no other marks on it. There are 5 drawers on one side. And 5 false drawer fronts on the other. As you can see in the photos, 4 of the 5 drawer fronts are curved, and the drawer joints are dovetailed. There are keyholes in the drawers(no keyholes on the false fronts, see photo#1) All 5 drawer locks are present, but I do not have the key. I’m sure that the drawer pulls are not the originals, since the pulls on two of the drawers cover up the keyholes. All 4 caster wheels roll well. The wood grain is amazing. But there are several condition issues. Two of the boards that make up the desk top have separated(have ... morecome unglued) and some crazy person(not me) drove a couple of headless nails into the boards to hold them in place. The nail heads are double-circled in yellow in the last photo. When I flipped the desk over, I saw the nails coming through an inch or so. It looks like it would not be too difficult to push them out from the underside. Also, something was spilled on the top, maybe ink. The stain is circled in yellow. The four inside corners of the desk are banged up, due to being struck repeatedly by a chair. A yellow arrow points to the most seriously damaged corner. Large Antique Tiger Oak Finish C style ROLLTOP DESK with interior drawers and cubicles circa 1900. This was obviously a mid-level managers desk. Extremely useable(and fun) with heavy solid wood and no expensive brass to polish. I have used it on a regular basis since I picked it up at an auction in 1971. Condition: signs of wear consistent with age and use. Various use marks, stains and scratches. no keys) Excellent restoration project. Please view the pictures. There was a repair to deal with a weakness in the desk when the roll-top is removed. Several minor repairs are still needed. But I choose not to make them so that I didn't mess up the value of the desk by doing them wrong. All of the original wood and screws are present for the repairs. All solid tiger quarter sawn oak with a barrel shaped roll top tambour door that opens to reveal desktop work space and interior small drawers. Cubby space. The desk has dove tail joined drawers. Original finish and original condition with plenty of character wear. Nice heavy duty desk that can be cleaned up and refinished or be used as is. Antique Roll Top Pedestal Desk, Quarter Sawn, Tiger Oak, Raised Panel
Antique Quarter Sawn. Raised Panel, Tiger Oak. Roll Top Desk I think this desk was manufactured in the early 1900’s. But I haven’t found any identifying marks. The wood grain is beautiful. The desk top is 54” x 32 ½” and the overall height is 53” The height of the desk top is about 32" There are four drawers on each side. All of the drawers are very deep and slide smoothly. The roll top moves up and down with a little effort. It takes two hands to open and close it. The caster wheels(not original) can be removed easily. Photo#4 shows the two slide-out writing panels. In photo#5 a red arrow points to a horizontal board that is not original. In photo#6 a red arrow points to a chipped board. Photo#7 includes a close-up of the lock. A drawer, and the underside of the desk top. Photo#8 shows the roll top section with all four drawers ... moreopened slightly(2 rectangular drawers and 2 small triangular pencil drawers) In photo#9 two cigarette burns are circled in red. Photo#10 shows a drawer with dividers, the underside of the slide-out panels, the underside of the roll top(laying on the floor) and the underside of one of the two small drawers from the roll top section. Photo#11 shows several holes that are near the corner of one of the pedestals. Apparently something was attached to the desk at one time. A lamp, perhaps. There are five holes along the front right edge and 10 holes on the right side, near the front edge. In photo#12 two chipped spots are circled in red. This desk has age appropriate signs of wear. Including chips and light scratches. I don’t have a key for the the lock. The front of one of the small pencil drawers has warped, and one of the guide rails for that drawer is loose. The panels on the back of the roll top section have warped, but they are intact. I know that I’ve listed a lot of condition issues. But none of them jump out at you when you first see the desk. People who see it typically say something like“Wow, that’s a beautiful desk. I can’t believe it’s 100 years old. The roll top
