The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

1890-1920 ART NOUVEAU DROP FRONT DESK/ SECRETARY + BENCH This turn-of-the-century mahogany desk has been finished in a durable satin oil-base paint to bring a contemporary feel to a classic antique style. It features plenty of storage space within a compact design. Opened or closed. This desk makes a statement in elegant simplicity. There is a slight crack in the wood at the bottom left of the door. Only on the outside. it does not go through, nor does it affect the beauty or functionality of the piece. It is a minor flaw and very common in a 90+ year old antique. As you will see from the image above(as in real life) It is not noticeable until you are specifically looking for it, or until your face is right up to it. As in the image below. The height of this desk is 50.5 inches. But don't worry about transporting it. It breaks down into ... moretwo sections. The top section sits down snuggly into the bottom section. This is a beautifully carved and constructed sled top lady’s desk, bench made and dating from 1900s. It’s a great ... moreexample of talented cabinet craftsmanship. It came right out of a fancy home, in original condition, showing original minor nicks and dings that are typical of its age. It wasn’t mass-produced, but was bench made. It has a raised panel hand-cut dovetail drawer with its original hardware. I did look for a signature, but could only find the scribe marks that tell that it’s bench made. It’s very high-quality, and is dovetailed front and back by hand. The carved lid opens with automatic supports, and although it’s never been damaged, the cubbyhole interior shows the last 120 or so years of use. We automatically sand down and refinish the inside, but on this piece we won’t because it is original and bench made. There is a label inside that says the arm supports were patented on April 5, 1907. It has cabriole legs, ball and claw feet, stick and ball spindle gallery that has been repaired at some point, and is in overall great condition. The size across the legs is 28 inches, across the writing lid is 26 inches, 18 inches deep from back to front on the legs, 15 inches deep on the case, and it is 40.5 inches tall from the floor to the gallery. Vintage American Seating Co. Child's School Desk with Bench Seat A very unique version of an item I see so often they all tend to look alike. Not only is this desk a great piece of Americana but it also serves as a nice piece of Folk Art. The art is what drew my attention. It's simple and quaint. The desk and bench seat were made by the American Seating Co. I am unsure of the year of manufacture but I know that the bolt down desk and chair were replaced by the 1 piece desk/chair unit. Also. What's nice about this piece, is that it's not small. I can sit comfortably at it without feeling cramped. The overall dimensions are 33"L x 23 1/2"W x 31 3/8"H Dimensions for the bench seat is 22"across x 31 3/8"tall x 15"deep Dimensions for the desk are 23 1/2"across x 28"tall x 16"deep The ... morewood is in rather good condition considering its age. There is a small crack on the backrest of the bench seat though. There are also pencil. Crayon, pen, and other assorted markings on the wood desk top and even a few shallow etchings. Typical stuff that kids do. I think it adds personality and charm. Pieces like this are to see and appreciate not necessarily to be functional. Although, this can be both I suppose. Local pick up is welcomed and shipping can also be arranged. I am also willing to deliver to a limited range for a negotiated and reasonable price agreed upon before purchase. It occurred to me that it would be possible to remove the desk and bench seat from the mounting boards and ship the items in separate cartons. This option would allow shipping to any location in the U.S. I will only use this option if asked to do so by buyer. I have taken a lot of pictures. J.H. Rosberg Mfg Co. Watchmakers Desk/Bench Measures approximately 41 3/4" long x 20 1/4" wide x 40 1/2" high 13 drawers and one catch tray. This mustard green workbench could use a little restoring. The wood at the top looks to have been replaced. The rest looks to be original along with the handles. A few of the drawers on right side probably need sanding because they are tight. John Henry(J.H. Rosberg was born in Sweden in 1856 and at age 16 became an apprentice for a cabinet maker. This choice would lead into a long and industrious career of creating beautiful cabinets and benches. Dentists and watchmakers were popular clients of the talented woodworker. Rosberg lived in Connecticut for a short time and then migrated to Chicago. Vintage Sears and Roebuck Child's School Desk with Bench Seat. Row bench style seating. I have seen these desks on boards and placed one in front of the other for children classroom seating. This one is one full desk and a seat in front of the desk, all attached onto an old board with screws. The manufacturer is Sears and Roebuck. The wood is old and faded but is in good condition. A bit of oils or staining and sanding will bring her right back. The seat in front of the desk has a broken seat board, it can be re glued. The cast iron on the same seat in not attached. It appears there is a snub or cast to slide into place on the seat but since the board needs glued I will not mess with this. I can offer local pick up or I will dis assemble to ship. Antique School Desk Bench/ End Seat ASC
A solid maple. Hard-to-find, end seat from a row of school desks made by the American Seating Company. This model began production in 1911. Old school desks were bolted to oak runners in long rows of 10. Only the lalst desk of the 10 had the single seat, allowing a student to sit and use the desk ahead. These are relatively rare. The wood is maple and will refinish or paint nicely. The metal can also be painted, and this one could stand a wire brushing to remove light rust before painting. If used for a child, this seat should be attached to some sort of runner, the floor, or a board to avoid tipping. Top of back stands 26" tall, seat measures 14 1/2 at the front and 12 1/2" at the rear. The seat is 11 2/8" deep. Overall the entire seat is around 18 1/2" deep. Made in Buffalo. New York. Vintage school desk. I can't confirm the manufacture date. The latest patent date marked on it is 1898, but I can only confirm that it was recovered in the early 1950's by a Portland, Oregon firefighter before his team burned a decrepit school house down for training. It's worn and has markings from students past. Including hearts and initials. There is a chunk of the shelf under the desktop broken off, shown clearly in the pictures. The desk itself is two-tone wood and the frame is wrought iron. MEASUREMENTS: The desk top is 28" high by 24" wide by 16" deep. The seat is 15" high by 24" wide by 13" deep. The seat back is 16" high by 24" wide and stands 31" tall off the ground. If the seat is folded up the desk measures 26" wide side to side.
