Some of the gold paint around the box ... moreis missing too. There is a name and year written on the bottom of the desk, but it is very faint and can only be seen while hold the desk at a certain angle to the light. I tried to capture the writing in a picture, but could only get the first part of the name. The name stands out the most. The rest of the writing, I believe would be where the owner lived and the year is much fainter. It looks like Maggie C Farr(something) something) 1876 or 1896. The box measures about 11 ¼” x 7 3/4” x 3 ½” closed) Opened and lying flat the desk measures about 16” long. The inside bottom felt writing surface that lifts up is tight and strong while the top felt writing surface that lifts up is wiggly, but still very much intact. Very nice old lap desk. For sale is a 1950s 2 arm industrial Jielde multi angle articulated machine ... morelamp. The aluminium elbows have been polished. The lamp is in working order and comes with 2.4 metres of new flex but not the plug as it is a French one. It is in very good used condition with some very minor signs of use to the reflector's surface. The reflector has its original high temperature painted surface and still has the bulb wattage/voltage sticker intact. The switch is in the base. I have included the lamp's weighted vehicle brake disc base in the sale. These lamps are very sort after and nice examples like this are becoming difficult to find. The photos don't do it justice! The lamp takes a Standard Bayonet cap bulb(B22) which are available at all DIY outlets. Bulb not included. The maximum wattage is 150w. Jielde lamps were designed by Jean-Louis Domecq for direct mounting on machine tools and for use in workshops. The lamps have now become particularly fashionable for use in loft style apartments and in homes generally as desk lamp/floor or wall lamps. So, hence I have fitted a trailing flexible lead to make the light more useable in the home. I have displayed this light using a vehicle brake disc which provides a solid base to show a typical method of mounting the light. Heavy sprockets. Hardwood- anything heavy will do the job. The light can also be fixed to a wall if required using its mounting base/bracket which has 3 holes in it. Although the light isn't heavy, it will require a solid wall and sturdy fixings to mount it as the movement required to adjust the lamp to the desired position will put stress on the mounting. If you do not want the brake disc included in the sale, then I will discount the postage by £10. Dimensions: Maximum extended height is 110cm( 44" The shade dia. is 16cm. I am not sure about the carving. The desk has 3 leather panels on top. The desk is approximately 54" wide. 28" deep and 30" tall. It has 8 drawers. The bottom right drawer is a deep file drawer. The desk is in very good antique/used condition. At the front of the desk it may have been repaired at one time. There are two pieces of wood, one is 3" by 1" and the other one is 2" by 1" that appear to have been inlaid(not initially apparent or significant) The leather top has some stain which contributes to the authenticity,age and use of the desk. Loughlin(born 1852 in Sidney) and his Sidney Furniture Company. Loughlin patented his T-Head cast iron ornamental frame unit so that the front of the frame held a wooden seat and back that were slightly arched for comfort. And the back of the frame a wooden desk stop with an open compartment underneath it. The desktop has a single groove in it to hold pen and pencil and open hole for an inkwell. Both of the metal legs have"The Fashion/ Sidney, Ohio" embossed on their outside edges, and, in addition, the left side has"L1& 2 PATD/ L1, while the right side has"R1& 2 PATD/ R1. The streamline Deco design and stunning solid teak wood(not veneer) make it remarkable! I have meticulously restored this fantastic desk from top to bottom. Teak wood. Is very valuable and this desk is solid teak(except for the drawer insides)The drawer insides feature oak with dovetail joinery on both the front and back ends of the drawers. I painted the 5 drawers with black.The top drawer bottom I added the"cheetah" fabric, which is a felt backed vinyl, making for a soft surface. I think it adds artistic flair to this desk. The beautiful hardware is all original and has aged to a spectacular bronze patina and is in excellent antique condition. I restored the finish entirely by hand. The desk had ... morean brown opaque finish which was poorly applied and hiding the wonderful grains and textures of this teak.I applied many. It has a metal locking plate attached to the bottom of the rolltop that is labeled"Northwestern Furniture Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The metal plate that attaches to the desk surface is missing, as is the key, so currently, the rolltop can not be locked in place. The desk measures 5' long. 2'6" deep, 3'6.25" tall in the back, and 2'6" tall at the height of the desk. The top surface area of the desk, above the rolltop is 5' long by 11" wide. The flat desk surface area is 4'6.25" wide by 2'0.25" deep. There is a center drawer that measures 24-3/8" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 2" deep. Each of the three drawers on ... morethe left side, and the top drawer on the right side are 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 4.25" deep. The bottom file drawer on the right side is 11.25" wide, 22.75" front to back, and 10" deep. There are two flat oak writing shelves on the top of each side of drawers that pull out. The shelving underneath the rolltop portion, from the left, consists of two shelves underwhich is a drawer, three alternating open shelves with three drawers, and two sets of two open shelves with a drawer beneath each of them. There are also two pen/pencil holders near the middle, below the shelves/drawers. Overall. This desk is in nice condition, but does have some imperfections to mention. It appears that it has been refinished at some point in a satin finish polyurethane. Although it presents itself very well, it isn't perfect and does have a few small nicks/scratches in the surface, but none that are very bad. There is no structural damage and it is sturdy in place. Antique Secretary, cabinet, walnut furniture, desk, 1900 darling!
Gorgeous piece. I hate to let it go, but I'm moving and need to downsize! Circa 1900 secretary I believe is walnut. maker unknown. This was more of a middle class piece rather than a fine piece in it's day, so I was told by the dealer. It is solidly constructed, and stands 93" tall including pediment. it comes apart into two pieces making it easier to move. the top cabinet with glass doors is 62" tall and is rather shallow at nine inches which is nice if you don't want too bulky a piece. the bottom stands 31" and is 18 inches deep at the top, the cabinet being 15 inches deep. it is 38" wide. With desk folded down it is 23" deep. It has some insect gouges, I guess you might call them and other flaws and some wear. Pediment has been repaired. but you can hardly tell. PLEASE study photos carefully and consider ... moremeasurements and ask any questions before bidding. This is the most darling piece and looks fabulous just as it is. Antique Oak Desk and Matching Chair For Sale. The desk measures 47" long.30" tall and 26" wide.The chair slides under it. There are 2 wide drawers on top and 3 drawers on the side. The second drawer needs some repair work done on it. Has some damage inside. The back of the desk has a splintered piece.See picture. This is nothing major. The repairs are minimum and we used it just find without fixing it. We never used the drawer and the issue in back no one could see. This is an Unsigned original Arts and Crafts beautiful 1/4 sawn oak desk that is believed to be an unsigned Stickley piece. Either L&G or Gustav. The desk is in beautiful condition with normal wear of early 1900's desk. The only wear on this piece is in the top left desk drawer where it appears that a ink well spilt and stained inside the drawer, showing also the age of the piece of furniture. No symbol or signature could be found. However there is a picture of a hand written name on the under belly of the desk. Antique Oak desk circa 1930 from the European Revival Line by Lifetime Furniture
A masculine and substantial heavily carved solid oak desk. Paper stamp says"Lifetime Furniture" which is from the Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Co. operated until 1956) 36 1/2" wide by 66 1/2" long and 31" tall. This desk has spent its life. Up until a month ago, in the St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, NY. which has closed down. St. Ignatius is a Tudor Revival Palace built by utilities and tabacco mogul, Nicholas Brady in the 20's. It was also called Inisfada, meaning Long Island in Gaelic. In 1937 it was donated to the Jesuits. As the photos will show. The doors across the drawers are missing and two of the feet have a small section missing. There are a lot of surface scratches and a couple deeper one on the top. The finish is worn off in many places. I took the leg off and drilled ... moreboth portions in the center of the 2 pieces and installed a steel rod 1/2" diameter X 6" length. Pin is not visible as the pin is in the middle of the wood. The leg will NEVER break there again. A new L brace on the back side unseen from the front to complete the repair.Nice tight repair. Other issue is the tamba door which rolls up& down. I had to duct tape the handle on the back side. A new cloth or woven material should be glued on the back side so it rolls nicely again as one. Probably billiard felt would work well too. With contact cement on both portions and clamp. The door rolls as shown now. I spent enough time repairing the leg on this so new owner will complete this noted defect. For ultimate show the piece should be refinished or at minimum touched up with Orange shellac as is the original finish still on the pieces.Typical of 1940s-1950s furniture refinishing. Repair shop can do this relatively easy. If I had more time would do it myself. Its noted so no surprises. That said its a nice older sturdy desk that will retain value. Oak is always desired. Hello. This is a beautiful set of antique cast iron school desk legs from Grand Rapids Furniture Co. out of Michigan. They have really nice ornate patterns and awesome embossment proudly displaying their origin. These come from a time when quality mattered and things lasted for more than a few months of use. They are commonly being used for tables, and various forms of stands. The bottom shelf(as seen in the pics) folds up. My wife loves them as plant stands, a great time to pull out those special pieces of board you have been saving. I have 5 sets of these, all exactly the same, but would prefer not to combine shipping for fear that they will get damaged, it's just too much weight and too many pieces in one box. Hello. This is a beautiful set(1 pair) of antique cast iron school desk legs from Grand Rapids Furniture Co. out of Michigan. They have really nice ornate patterns and awesome embossment proudly displaying their origin. These come from a time when quality mattered and things lasted for more than a few months of use. They are commonly being used for tables, and various forms of stands. The bottom shelf(as seen in the pics) folds up. My wife loves them as plant stands, a great time to pull out those special pieces of board you have been saving. I have 5 sets of these, all almost exactly the same.These legs weigh about 21 lbs. total per pair. The top shelf is 22" high(from the ground) and 11" wide. The bottom shelf is 12" high and 9" wide. A beautiful 1/4 sawn Tiger Oak Desk. made by Standard Furniture Company in Herkimer. NY. ca 1895- 1920. The top is about 30" deep and 50" wide& 1 1/2" thick. The build design allows you to get it into tight places. The top comes off of the pedestals and the stringers come out- makes it easy for one person to move. The pedestal feet are wrapped in brass and all the original hardware is intact. The drawers lock when the center drawer is in. The kneehole is braced with brass chair impactstrips on both sides and is about 19" wide. Left side- 3 separate drawers Right side- 2 separate drawers(top is standard. The women who have sat at this desk- from Playboy Bunnies to Women of the Church.The Stories it holds; Not sure of the age but I have been told it is over 90 yrs old. I have had this all over the world- from The East Coast Rhode Island to The West Coast California& back to Chicago. It has traveled with me to everywhere I have lived all my life. It is time to pass it on to someone who will appreciate it's value& worth. Not sure of the wood but it is very well made& heavy. It has a total of 7 drawers. It needs some repair work on the drawers& not sure if all of the knobs are original but you could always replace them. It was once painted white- ... morebut it was refinished. It needs to be done again: It has some scratches& nicks in the wood- but this would be a great project for someone. Here are the measurements: 48" Long X 19" Wide X 29" High. The large center drawer is 10.5"Deep. The smaller 6 drawers are 14"Deep. From the floor to the center of the desk where the chair goes under is approx. 21.5" High.
