Original German Antique School Desk. All wood construction. Metal hardware. Includes Inkwell marked with"D.R.G.M. The acronym D.R.G.M. stands for Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster, meaning that the design or function of an item was officially registered inside all of Germany. This registration was introduced 1891, used throughout World Wars I and II and throughout the Allied Occupation of Germany being eliminated between 1949-1952. This desk is at least sixty years old or more! It is in fantastic condition! This was aquired in Germany in the late 1990's. Buyer needs to arrange for shipping/transportation/or local pickup. Offered for sale is this gorgeous hand-made. All wood, German storage bench with custom French country theme pillows and seat pad. This is a very old original piece, although I don't know the exact age, I was told that it is at least 100 years old. The wood is a washed, stressed wood that appears to be old and wormed, but that is purposeful as to give it that old world look and feel. The bench serves both for sitting bench and as a large storage area beneath. The French country theme large pillows and pads were custom designed and are in like new condition. This is an antique oak desk. I believe German early 1900s. It is a very unique& beautiful piece that belonged to my father. It is also very large& I just don't have the right space to show it off. The top of the desk could use refinishing& the middle section is leather. Also note the leather covered button accents. Antique German Bookcase and Desk Match Set
Recently arrived from Germany! A matching desk and bookcase with beautiful carvings. Desk is a free standing one with decorative carvings all around. Built between 1925 and 1945. This set would look great in a home office. The desk lower cavities have been modified to hold hanging files, very sturdily done and can be taken out with only minor holes inside the desk. The desk itself is one piece, a hefty antique with great lions feet. Desk is 5'6" wide, 3' deep while the bookcase is 6'1" tall, 21" deep at the base and a massive 8'10" wide! Thankfully the bookcase disassembles for easy transport and assembly. The shelves inside are adjustable to fit taller books and the middle can be used to display books or items visible through the original beveled glass.
