Circa 1930's Solid Oak Roll Top Desk and Matching Chair
Solid Oak Construction. With original brass covers on the ends of the legs.Multiple drawers and two slide out platforms for typewriter(originally) or a computer. Plenty of storage. It's nice full size while not being overwhelming in any room. It measures 43" high. 48" wide and 30" deep. It is at least 80 years old. Original owner was an elementary school teacher who had it for 40 years. I got it in the very early 1970's. In mint condition. Easy refinishing to a real show piece as all edges of the wood are sharp and not damaged. No deep surface blemishes, Matching chair is in the same condition. Antique Oak desk circa 1930 from the European Revival Line by Lifetime Furniture
A masculine and substantial heavily carved solid oak desk. Paper stamp says"Lifetime Furniture" which is from the Grand Rapids Bookcase and Chair Co. operated until 1956) 36 1/2" wide by 66 1/2" long and 31" tall. This desk has spent its life. Up until a month ago, in the St. Ignatius Retreat House in Manhasset, NY. which has closed down. St. Ignatius is a Tudor Revival Palace built by utilities and tabacco mogul, Nicholas Brady in the 20's. It was also called Inisfada, meaning Long Island in Gaelic. In 1937 it was donated to the Jesuits. As the photos will show. The doors across the drawers are missing and two of the feet have a small section missing. There are a lot of surface scratches and a couple deeper one on the top. The finish is worn off in many places. This is a vintage oak desk that belonged to my great grandmother that I know she had in the 1930's. The only stamping is on the back. Please see photos. There is a drawer and the top opens up and extends. Has some minor wear and minor scuffs. Would be gorgeous with a little TLC. Measurements are approximately as follows: 40 inches high. 26 inches across, 15 inches from wall extended out with the top closed shut, 30 inches extended outward with desk top open and the ledge is 6 1/2 inches.
