The desk retains the original photograph from when it was retailed by Jacques Bodart, Inc. during the first quarter of the 20th Century, noting this as#1681. It is a gorgeous piece, the original gilt highlighted tooled green leather preserved in remarkable condition, framed in well patinated molded mahogany over five drawers. The desk rests over four tapered and stop-fluted legs with square brass caps over each leg and terminating in plain brass capped feet. Jacques Bodart. Inc. crafted very fine reproductions of Louis XVI 18th and 19th Century antique furniture, marketing these to interior designers and decorators around the country from their showroom in New York City. This is a simply outstanding selection, only more so due to the fine patina and character developed throughout, perfect for home decorators and those passionate about original French designs. Measurements: 55 1/8" wide x 28 1/4" deep x 30" high; wings are 12 3/4" across when fully extended. 21 5/8" deep. Condition Report: Nice patinated and almost certainly original surface. Sunbleached on the front and sides, color well preserved in the back. Very minor dings and abrasions here and there throughout, including minor blemishes and stains to the leather top. No key. Has one pin to hold the white glass shade and is Im pretty sure for a three way bulb. In great shape for age. Very minimal wear of black basicaly in one part that I see. Whole thing measures about 28 inches tall at the loop x 18. On the bottom is a metal plate that does have some rust but it doesnt affect the lamp. The shade is meant to fit perfectly on the white glass shade so it doesnt move. I dont know if it would hold a glass chimney or not but it doesnt look like it was intended for that. I think the hole at the top is to let out the heat. You will love it. It will need to go parcel post due to being oversize and to cut down on shipping cost. Grab it before someone else does. Stamped"Made in France" Item# 130006OLV15 This is an outstanding find for any serious interior designer or anyone passionate about Neoclassical forms true to the spirit of Louis XVI furnishings. A French Louis XVI Style Antique Writing Desk executed in solid fruitwood. Presumably Cherry, this piece was crafted during the first half of the 20th Century- this date could probably be further isolated with research into the Circular Crowned Fire Breathing Dragon brand impressed beneath the desk beside the"Made in France" brand. The broad leather top is tooled along the edges. The surface remaining in overall quite good condition despite years of use; it is framed in fruitwood edged by brass tubing, the corners of the frame ... morepinned with exposed pegs. The top projects over three drawers, these hand dovetailed with golden oak secondary woods in the sides, back and machine-chamfered bottom. The original key is retained, working the lock on the middle drawer quite effectively. Each corner of the frame is embellished with gilded ribbed rectangular panels over the legs. The desk rests over turned and tapered legs beneath round brass rings and terminating in capped brass ball feet. It is sturdy and stable. An absolutely perfect piece for regular functional use in a home office or home library. The fruitwood glows throughout with a deep well oxidized patina beneath a polished finish. Measurements: 51 1/8" wide x 27 1/2" deep x 30" high to top; 24" high to underside of apron where the chair would pull under Condition Report: Brass rim with some dents. Walnut with raised and matched panels, the top has been re-varnished for durability. The balance of the original finish is very well preserved and has been waxed and polished, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its glowing patina. Opening the drop front reveals an interior in curly or"birdseye" maple with a tooled writing surface plus tiny drawers and cubicles. There is no key for the little locking drawer. French Louis XV Style Gilt Mounted Mahogany Bureau Plat Early 20th Century. Probably c. 1910-30 Item# 130008GQJ26 Crafted during the first years of the 20th Century. When fervor for antiques of the Louis XV taste were still at a remarkable high, this very attractive French Louis XV Bureau Plat was embellished with great effort. Featuring a solid mahogany top with a molded edge, the front of the bureau plat has a long hand dovetailed drawer for storage, opening to reveal a solid golden oak interior. The keyhole escutcheon is probably the finest bronze mount on the desk, a piece that prominently features the rocaille movement around the fully functioning key and lock. The apron is shapely, the front and back mirroring the flow of the top with a slight inversion in the middle. The cabriole legs are formed with very fine gate, the tapering form ... morenearly perfect in proportion to the table, each surmounted with an intense rocaille Gilt bronze mount with the"C" form featured actively as it curls over the entire knee- a thin reed of gilt bronze continues to flow down the leg into the beautiful Gilt bronze sabot mounts with curling toes. This is a fully functional piece. Not just being a beautiful decorative art, the form being sturdy and strong throughout with a clean writing surface. For decorators passionate about the French Louis XV form, this is a wonderful find. These five keys were bought years ago from an antique dealer who imported container loads from France. They are lovely. In a variety of styles, and simply perfect for adding a note of interest to antique furniture, by keeping one in a lock. doesn't matter if it won't lock it, it looks good! Antique Tiger Oak Desk, curved drawer fronts, Unusual, Vintage, French maybe
Antique Tiger Oak Desk This beautiful desk has been sitting in storage for 30 years. It looks really old. But I have no idea how old it is or where it came from. The number 126 is impressed into the underside of the desk, but I have found no other marks on it. There are 5 drawers on one side. And 5 false drawer fronts on the other. As you can see in the photos, 4 of the 5 drawer fronts are curved, and the drawer joints are dovetailed. There are keyholes in the drawers(no keyholes on the false fronts, see photo#1) All 5 drawer locks are present, but I do not have the key. I’m sure that the drawer pulls are not the originals, since the pulls on two of the drawers cover up the keyholes. All 4 caster wheels roll well. The wood grain is amazing. But there are several condition issues. Two of the boards that make up the desk top have separated(have ... morecome unglued) and some crazy person(not me) drove a couple of headless nails into the boards to hold them in place. The nail heads are double-circled in yellow in the last photo. When I flipped the desk over, I saw the nails coming through an inch or so. The four inside corners of the desk are banged up, due to being struck repeatedly by a chair. A yellow arrow points to the most seriously damaged corner. C. 1880-1910 Item# 1404NPP26P This is an exceedingly attractive early 20th Century French Louis XVI Style desk- the type is known as a"Cylinder" form for the cylindrical top that rolls into the desk to reveal the writing surface. This writing surface is covered with a mellow blue velour and pulls outward to extend the depth of the working area. Three small drawers are arranged beneath three letter-slots. The rolling top locks with great security. Large steel bolts projecting from either side into brass catches in the case. Pairs of smaller drawers rest beneath a brass gallery on either side of the desk, these flanking an original bevelled glass mirror ... morebeneath an overhanging top shelf. The entire desk is embellished handsomely with brass fluting, these accentuating and drawing heightened attention to the clean and uncomplicated lines of the form. A single large drawer is set in the apron, crafted in the same manner as the other drawers with hand cut dovetails for all parts of the framing and oak woods in all of these secondary parts. Antique Early 1900's French Partners Desk - Very Ornate and Rare
Up for sale is what I believe to be an early 1900's vintage French Partner's Desk. All original(except for a refinish) Done in Country French/Art Nouveau style. The desk came with a one-page signed appraisal from May 10, 1982 showing a value of $7500.00. I had a current full appraisal report done on the piece(including a Certificate of Authenticity) on May 27th of this year which shows a fair market value of $3200.00 and an Insurance value of $3840.00. I was unhappy with some of that appraiser's findings and disagreed with some of her opinions, so I also brought the desk to"Antiques Roadshow" here in Albuquerque in July. Their"Expert Appraiser" had a much different opinion of the piece, but still valued it in the $3500.00 to $4000.00 range. Unfortunately, the Roadshow absolutely prohibits giving anything in ... morewriting, so the only proof of an appraisal or value given from them is if you get on TV(which I did not) I think you'll agree, however, that his opinions of the piece are much more likely than the opinions in the written report(read-on) Differences: Well. First off is a big one.The appraisal report I have states that the wood is Satin Walnut whereas the Expert from the Roadshow clearly stated the primary wood was mahogany. I'm no wood expert, but I can certainly take close-up pics and/or follow instructions to help you determine the wood type. Secondly, the appraisal report states that the original desk dates to the early mid 19th century(1800-1850 or so) and the Art Nouveau carvings as well as the"checkered" inlays on the top were added later. The Roadshow expert strongly disagreed with this stating that the entire desk dated from about 1910 and was all-original. Lastly(and what makes me most suspicious about the appraisal report) the appraiser thought that the inlays on the top were actually put there as chess boards. She even mentions in the report"Later Art Nouveau carvings were added to the desk as well as two chess boards on the top of the desk, and

Antique Leather Top Desk Darkwood Beautiful French Style 1940s
What a beautiful find here I seen a desk just like this go for a $750. I am letting this go for as little as $100 this must be picked up in Roseville. OH 43777 however, I can work with you on the hour and day that you would like to pick up. This has several drawers they are dovetailed and each drawer is intact. it's a sturdy beautiful desk. There are minor scratches which can be polished out the middle drawer is missing it's knobs which is also an easy fix and there is an ink spot in the drawer I'm only being detailed.
