T he desk top is wood and lifts open to store paper and supplies perfectly. Cle an inside- compartment measures 3" deep. Both the seat and the desktop operate as they should. Desktop measures 20 1/4" x 14" This desk measures 25 1/2" tall from back of chair to floor. I think the height on the seat and desk can be adjusted. From back to front this desk measures 26" long. ANTIQUE~ Gorgeous all wood Mitchell Lap Table. The top surface is 12”x18” as is the lower layer) with a pencil ledge that will also hold a book from rolling off the edge. With a gloss– shellac like finish. This shows no gloss loss, color loss, stain or chips. A beautiful Victorian style decal is applied to the surface and it has a lovely rose in the art. I note some light scuff. Truly a lovely piece. This was last used in a bed and breakfast setting at a Victorian Inn. I believe it quite fitting for that setting. I used it a number of times to hold a canvas for painting and holding music and reading.

French Louis XVI Style Fruitwood Leather Top Antique Writing Desk Second Quarter of the 20th Century. Stamped"Made in France" Item# 130006OLV15 This is an outstanding find for any serious interior designer or anyone passionate about Neoclassical forms true to the spirit of Louis XVI furnishings. A French Louis XVI Style Antique Writing Desk executed in solid fruitwood. Presumably Cherry, this piece was crafted during the first half of the 20th Century- this date could probably be further isolated with research into the Circular Crowned Fire Breathing Dragon brand impressed beneath the desk beside the"Made in France" brand. The broad leather top is tooled along the edges. The surface remaining in overall quite good condition despite years of use; it is framed in fruitwood edged by brass tubing, the corners of the frame ... morepinned with exposed pegs. The top projects over three drawers, these hand dovetailed with golden oak secondary woods in the sides, back and machine-chamfered bottom. The original key is retained, working the lock on the middle drawer quite effectively. Each corner of the frame is embellished with gilded ribbed rectangular panels over the legs. The desk rests over turned and tapered legs beneath round brass rings and terminating in capped brass ball feet. It is sturdy and stable. An absolutely perfect piece for regular functional use in a home office or home library. The fruitwood glows throughout with a deep well oxidized patina beneath a polished finish. Measurements: 51 1/8" wide x 27 1/2" deep x 30" high to top; 24" high to underside of apron where the chair would pull under Condition Report: Brass rim with some dents. I have meticulously restored this fantastic desk from top to bottom. Teak wood. Is very valuable and this desk is solid teak(except for the drawer insides)The drawer insides feature oak with dovetail joinery on both the front and back ends of the drawers. I painted the 5 drawers with black.The top drawer bottom I added the"cheetah" fabric, which is a felt backed vinyl, making for a soft surface. I think it adds artistic flair to this desk. The desk had an brown opaque finish which was poorly applied and hiding the wonderful grains and textures of this teak.I applied many. Antique Roll Top Desk. Circa 1920. Condition is excellent. It has a few areas that need some attention. We would use furniture polish but it probably needs a proper cleaning to wake up the wood. There are a few specks of paint on the right side. Again with a proper cleaning this can address this. The Only major defect is small burn mark on desk portion. I took many photos so what you see it what the desk has. There are 2 drawers on the shelf that were added and not part of the desk. That is why they don't match. It has been displayed in each of our homes for over 50 years. It was always stored on the main floor. Never in the basement or garage. It was cleaned and polished on a fairly regular basis. It has not dried out. We have been using it over the last few years as a computer desk. The second photo was taken by me of is of the original ... moreowner in 1959. Offered is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME PIECE. This desk is an exceptional piece of Americana handcrafted between 1910-1920 by a prison inmate in the Florida state prison system for a close relative and passed down through the generations until today. I purchased the desk from the great grandaughter of the original owner in Daytona Beach. Florida. I did not ask who in the family had actually made the desk in prison. The owners had it placed in the entrance foyer in their home with an antique lamp. This desk is commonly refered to a"Prison Art" Tramp or Folk Art" and consists of more than 20,000 matchsticks carefully and lovingly inlaid to create distinctive lines and divisions in an otherwise monotonous and repetitive assemblage. The burnt matchstick tips create the design and lines. The accents are in geometric diamonds polished and ... moreinlaid. The desk is very sturdy and the legs consist of pieces of pine glued and hammered together and the frame is constructed of polished plywood with careful attention to exposing the most attractive grain patterns.The inmates used only materials that were available in the prison. 1920 Antique Vintage Child Student Roll Top Desk Cork Screw Chair 1920's NICE

Up for Auction we have an Antique Vintage 1920s Childs or Students Roll Top Desk with matching Cork Screw Chair. Now I am not a circa aficionado. So I can only go by what I was told, but back when I bought it, the dealer informed me that the desk AND chair are a MATCHED PAIR that are from the 1920's. He said the brass hardware on the drawers are consistent with that period, but is not certain if they are the actual ... moreoriginal handles that were on it the day it was first sold. Unfortunately, I can't remember the manufacturers name, but you might be able to tell by looking at the pictures. I looked it over and couldn't find any labels or markings. I love the little chair. The fully functional brass hardware and triple banister post back. Coupled with the corkscrew design for raising and lowering the chair height is such a clever and inventive design. It is also very strong and sturdy! They just don't make chairs this durable any more! You can truly feel the history when you see this set. It is a great little set. The desks roll top is fully functional and there are little cubby cubicles inside for storage. There are 2 smoothly sliding drawers with a skeleton key type lock. No key though. The desk and chair both have the appropriate normal wear and tear marks from the last almost 100 years. But they both are in pretty good shape considering they was used by children. You can see minor maintenance repairs here and there, but nothing major that I can see. Just stuff like a couple new screws here and there. Antique Roll Top Desk early 1900-1920 Dark toned
Desk– a vintage hand-crafted double-pedestal walnut desk and chair(not depicted) Manufactured by the Los Angeles Desk Company(Los Angeles, CA) circa first quarter 20 th Century. With tambour roll-top concealing cubbyholes. This originally a school teachers rolltop desk was eventually usedby my grandparents Long Beach autobody shop used as an office desk during the 60s 70's and 80's. It has since been at my mothers home. I am reluctiant to sell it but have no room for it in my current home in Long Beach. Come check it out or make a bid.
