The secretary has a mirror, that is on the top at the right side and unbelievably gorgeous carved details and applied accents all throughout. It also has the original metal hardware, which is absolutely incredible and ornate as well. The front door of the secretary that would open down as a writing service has been broken off, and in half horizontally, however, the hinges are intact and it could easily be repaired. This door is 14" top to bottom, 20" wide. There is a lot of light staining and wear as well as scratches and dings to the finish.

This special lap desk was made of a wood with veneer over and a mother of pearl inlay. The interior writing surfice has a blue velvet fabric glued on and a black velvet ribbon acrossed the top where the hings are. There are six compartments on the inside for paper. Writing tools, and whatnots. The top lid has some cracking and veneer is missing on the side and it has damage where the hinges go(on top and bottom) See photos. The lock is present and there is no key. Locking top plate needs to be reattached. Its hinges need to be reworked. The hinges are included. But the location on the box needs to be repaired. Condition: Used Location: Fairfield, United States We are pleased to be offering today what I believe to be a bench made custom solid tiger sawn oak Chippendale raised panel all the way around cabriole ... moreleg flat top desk that dates from the 1890's. The desk comes with four raised panel dove tail drawers that retain all the original hardware. The center where the legs go have a reverse cove carving, which I have never seen in oak. It has a scallop bottom trim base, raised panels all the way around and a wide bevel edge on the solid tiger sawn oak top. The only negatives I see on the desk is that there is a little wear on the edge of the top from rubbing against something and there is a split going down the center of the top. We most likely could pull the top off and repair the top, which wouldn’t make a huge difference, but it is an expensive repair. The desk itself is high end quality.

The measurem e nts are 26" deep x 38" wi de x 29 3/4" tall. The front drops down and in side is a writing platform w ith an inkwell hole. Pencil rest, and cubbies in t he back for en v elopes. Etc. To the right is a drawer which actually comes completely out. The hinges have been replaced on this front piece as well as t he glass kno bs. There is an old keyhole and the lock seems to still be intact. However we do not have a key. My husband had his computer on this desk and be cause the underside of the des k is open. He was able to keep the keyboard on the pull-out platform, and the wires fit right throu gh. The wood is oak and is in beautiful condition ... morefor being old. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. I practically swooned when I saw this piece of furniture. This Queen Anne style is one of my favorites. With the cabriole legs in front and the straight legs in back. The hardware on this piece is simply gorgeous, but it is the patina on the old cherry that really knocked me out. Plus, it is solid as a rock, even after all this time. It was made by the Lincoln Desk Company in 1936( I believe) as the patent number is 1936113. The age of the desk is an educated guess going by the patent number. Nice large full size banker or lawyers desk that has 6 drawers in all including the center drawer. With two additional pull out writing boards. No keys to the center drawer but you can change the lock very easily. Original finish on the wood and this desk has turned pedestal legs. Minor normal wear, all good solid walnut wood with dove tial joinery and the drawers all open and close smoothly as they should with the exception of the deep file drawer. It is a little ... moretight but closes completely. The drawers all have original brass pulls. Overall dimensions are 60" by 34" by 30 inches tall and I have a glass top for this desk. Nice well made desk back in the days when quality craftsmanship was important to success. Beautiful patina reflects the age of this desk. There is a Lincoln penny or brass insert and a brass patent number on the inside of the drawer that I have pictured. Here is your chance to own a piece of history from an era gone bye. When I saved old ink wells and antique books it was set up as a victorian desk and bookcase complete with inkwell and quill pen. When I wanted to use it(as it is shown) to display my green depression glass, the glass shelves displayed that beautifully. It is a solid oak piece with all the original hardware and original beveled mirror. We did add the glass shelves. They were missing when we purchased this piece many years ago. It has a drop leave desk that hides all the little cubbies and small drawer. There is a storage closet and a larger drawer under the drop leave desk. We have the original key and it still works. It works fine on the glass door that encloses the glass shelves and it also works fine on the drawer under the desk top. The mechanism is missing to lock the large door under the desk top. The piece is numbered with"172" carved into the wood inside the large storage area under the desk top. The desk has wooden buttons which cover the screws/nails. It is in very good antique condition. There is a very slight bow on the top which is neither severe or distracting. There are some minor nicks and dings from use, but again, nothing too obvious or distracting. There is one screw cover that is missing on the back of the desk(see ... morephoto 10) The desk is sturdy and the screws can be tightened if they loosen. This is a beautiful piece of old furniture with a nice, Mission design. The desk measures 30" tall. It is 42" wide and 26" front to back. The knee height of the center section is 25.5" tall. Antique Womens Solid Wood Secretary Desk
Antique Women's Secretary Desk. This is in original condition. Belonged to my great-aunt. I am not sure of the age, but believe it to be from the early 1900's. The height of the desk is 50" from bottom to top of desk, 25 1/2" from side to side& 15 3/4" from front to back. It is solid wood with burled front arches on the top front of the door( see pictures) The doors open with small pulls& the desk automatically comes down. Inside has lots of open storage slots& a small pull out drawer. Carved wooden legs and carving around top& bottom of the desk. I have enclosed LOTs of pictures so that you can see exactly what you will be purchasing. The back dustcover was torn& removed as you will see from the back view pictures. The top show some wear(looks like someone set a glass on the top& shows a circle ... moreif you look closely.may be able to be rubbed out) All original condition, only 2 owners(my great aunt& myself) I am remodeling& would like this piece to go to someone who will love it as much as I did over the years. Antique spinet desk manufactured in the early 1900's by the Colonial manufacturing company. It is a secretary style desk with a fold down top. A slide out writing surface, 4 small drawers and 5 cubbies on the interior and 1 large drawer that is accessible when top is folded down. This desk is made of solid mahogany and is marked as such inside lower drawer. It is in solid shape structural.
