Wood Rolltop Desk. A.H. Revell & Co circa 1920
Wooden rolltop desk made around 1920 by A.H. Revell& Co furniture. Beautiful condition. But eight inch section of the top of the rolltop is unattached. That 8-inch section is original and matching, is in good condition, and is included. The top(secretary/rolltop portion) can be taken off and that section is 50 inches wide X 13 inches tall X 32 inches deep. Six drawers and one small door with non-functional key in top piece. Bottom(desk portion) is 50 inches wide X 31.5 inches tall X 32 inches deep. Seven Drawers in bottom piece. Top drawer on each side automatically locks and requires a hidden lever to be pushed down to unlock them. All drawers and doors work and move smoothly. All eight legs are capped in a dark brass and all have a functioning swivel wheel. This is an awesome looking roll top desk! Quality built for a child or petite person. This desk is made of warm maple and has original hardware. One antique dealer told us they thought it was a piece from 1908 in New England. However, we think the interior sections of all the drawers are not original. There is one drawer in the middle and three on the side; they are not dovetailed. Above the 3 drawers is a pull out panel for additional writing space. The cubbies at the back of the desk are in good condition. The chair has 4 legs that form a"teepee" and has a cast iron swivel base that adjusts the height of the chair. The back of the chair has 2 slats. One of which is loose and it appears that one is missing. The rock maple wood has a rich patina and is worn. The drawers and roll top open& close with ease. This is a steel/metal Dental Cabinet from around 1920 on Casters. It is the early 20th Century. The drawers work great. Needs refinished. The glass on the main top has been broke as seen in the pictures. Glass inside is great. It is 36 inches wide and 33 inches tall and the glass shelves are 1/4 inches thick.

Vintage English oak school desk with folding seat/top, w/ inkwell, circa 1920!
Offered for sale is an original English oak school desk from the 1920s. Not for toddlers. This desk was designed for students in late elementary/high school, and can readily accommodate any adult. It measures 32.5" high x 26" wide x 36" long. It's constructed of rock-hard English oak, and has a folding seat, and a lift-top desk with ample space underneath. The joinery is a beautiful dovetail construction. The desk is currently lined with removable black felt. This style of desk was immensely popular in England after WW1, primarily because of the development of rolled iron tubing.see pics. We have meticulously restored this desk, but intentionally left the original inkwell stains, and the carved names from almost 100 years ago. Antique Roll Top Desk. Circa 1920. Condition is excellent. It has a few areas that need some attention. We would use furniture polish but it probably needs a proper cleaning to wake up the wood. There are a few specks of paint on the right side. Again with a proper cleaning this can address this. The Only major defect is small burn mark on desk portion. I took many photos so what you see it what the desk has. There are 2 drawers on the shelf that were added and not part of the desk. That is why they don't match. It has been displayed in each of our homes for over 50 years. It was always stored on the main floor. Never in the basement or garage. It was cleaned and polished on a fairly regular basis. It has not dried out. We have been using it over the last few years as a computer desk. The second photo was taken by me of is of the original ... moreowner in 1959. Fine piece of Mahogany furniture made during the H.E. Shaw(Grand Rapids MI) first half of the 20th century. This ladies desk. With inset leather writing surface, is preciously inviting as a functional desk while discreetly unobtrusive by its small size.
